📖 GLOSSARY: 📖
► False Vocal Folds: False vocal folds, also called ventricular folds are a pair of thick folds of mucous membrane that are located above the larynx. They close when swallowing to protect the lungs.
► Thin Vocal Folds: When the folds thin out when you go higher in the range. Also known as head voice.
► Falsetto: When the vocal folds are stiff and let out air.
► Thick Vocal Folds = When you are in your chest register (so lower than an A above middle C ish) the true vocal folds are thick, and therefore we call this thick vocal folds.
► True Vocal folds = Vocal cords. They aren't cords at all but folds of tissue and ligament, so we stay clear of you thinking they are like two ropes in your larynx.
► Larynx: the place in the throat where the Vocal Folds / Vocal Cords live.

We were at the Eurovision Village in Liverpool when Gustav was supposed to perform his song, but the backing track wouldn't play (several times). He kept everyone engaged through all the problems and came across as such a nice fella. He ended up singing it acapella with his backing singers. It was fantastic!
Actually he teaches singing at the Royal Academy of Performing Arts in Belgium. He actually was two times before at Eurovision as a background singer.
If you want to hear more of him, the easiest to find is what he did with Hercules and Love Affair. In the Belgian music industry, he is known as a backing vocalist and vocal coach (eg for Hooverphonic and Sennek in previous ESC's). His journey is quite remarkable, before the preparties he was 35 in the betting odds.

I see people mention Estonia and Armenia, but I have to say that the most impressive vocals in my opinion came from Spain. They are in a flamenco style and likely sound jarring to people not used to them, but it's an incredible technique.

I suggest that you take a look at Latvia's semi-final 1 performance! Sudden Light's Aijā was 3 points away from qualifying but sadly it seems like indie rock just wasn't really Europe's thing. I think their lead singer had one of the most stable voices this year and the song's time signature is really interesting!

It would be really intersting to are You react to Milim by Harel Skaat from Eurovision 2010. As far as I can tell, he sings it beautifully apart from two major mistakes.

Out of all the Eurovision 2023 analysis videos I currently find on your channel, this song is the only one I disliked, because I found it forgettable and boring, but I love your positive attitude in all of the videos. You make me like all of them more than I did before!

I really don't understand how people can like this song. As a belgian I was angry we send this one, the song has no power and neither has his voice. For me this song is so boring.
