- If you've never used Parafilm to seal an agar plate, chances are that you'll use too much of it. Here Dan shows how just a small strip of Parafilm is enough, and how you don't literally "wrap" the entire plate.

Really helpful. :D
BTW, reason to use Parafilm is because it can exchange air but prevents contamination.
Thank you! I was wondering why we were using it to begin with.
isn't that what the 3m micropore is for? I thought micropore =/= parafilm?
@@Rakusa1337 micropore has no stretch paper tape will not work for plates sadly
Thank you! You saved me a ton of parafilm, very helpful
THANKS!!!!!! I'm in Microbiology and just finished an experiment but had no idea on how to use that paper!
Thank you man! Very useful.
Thank you so much, really helpful our teacher never explains anything and this is so helpful
Hi,
Just discovered it and will buy & use it. Hope that it will stop contaminations in my flasks.
Daniel
Thanks for the tip.
Thanks so much for this. I need to seal mine for Bio II today and the lab instructions didn't tell us how to use the film.
Thanks. Just what I was looking for.
Don’t hold the Petri dish too tightly, they crack easily.
Tq so much its helping me a lot thank you
This thing Just save my life 💓
Thank you!
Thanks mate ❤️
Can you use glad cling wrap instead? Does it breathe? I have read of many people saying you can use it.
Thanks good video
Thank you😻❤️
Thank you. Seems really easy
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!
thank you
Great for shipping spirits. 👏👏
Ohhhhhhhh that looks smooth. So glad I picked some up. Horticultural grafting tape is much cheaper and made using a fairly sterile process
I have both. I like parafilm better because it stretches
I do not see a sterile process ! The tape is already contaminated with ambient contaminants, So how to apply perfectly sterile ? Perfectly sterile. because the tape is not sterile as we can see. I need an idea!
Thanks
how did he get paper off so easy ? I dread those . especially with gloves
Awesome :) Thanks :)!!!
Ha!!! It's the little things in life that sometimes matter the most!!! Thanks!!!! This was in my at home Bio Kit and I had not a clue what to do with it!
Thank you so much. I wasted so much parafilm, i thought you would need a big piece xD
There is a sealing film cutter that can be used without scissors
Hi ad, can we use the parafilm M for wrapping a erlen glass (contains culture medium inside) and then autoclave?
Nope. Melts at 60 Celsius
Hey thanks ! Just like Heather Acosta, my teacher didn't tell us anything.
Tnaksss :D
But how can you sterilize the parafilm?
I do this and the shit cracks a few days later.
me too, thats what I'm on here trying to figure out
If you have cracking you can take more and stretch it over 2 to 3 times around.
Same! And it sticks to the plates above and below in a stack and then rips when you take them apart. So frustrating! Any tips?
This stuff is very expensive. In our lab we use a thin electrical tape and it works perfectly.
Oehhhhh. Any brand names for us?
@@reedleatherware best ones are from Le Mark. 12mm is perfect.
@@caioambrosioleal-dutra3825 you rock! Thanks 😊
