- you've all been asking and asking for @gremlita and i to do an official collab... so we did! on both of our channels we decided to restyle iconic cartoon characters in (hypothetical) live action reboots and it was an EXPERIENCE. we decided to restyle bubbles from the powerpuff girls, daphne from scooby doo, angelica from rugrats, sandy cheeks from spongebob squarepants, and starfire from teen titans. both mina and i regularly discuss costume design on our channels and we wanted to put our skills and our creativity to the test in this friendly competition! make sure to comment down below what your favorite outfit was and who you think did the best job overall. don't forget to watch mina's video over on her channel: • restyling your favorit...

me and my friends sewed our halloween costumes as the powerpuff girls and it looked better than the actual costumes for the live action 😭

I kind of agree, but I do think Bubbles would like girly and quirky artistic things that may look more innocent. Like she loves animals, drawing, and cuteness and I don’t think she needs to sacrifice those interests to look cool.

Daphne is smart, but I think she’s more subtle about it. She’s not bragging about it and she doesn’t need to be in the spotlight all the time.
I feel like she’s one of those smart people that downplays their intelligence to their advantage

She’s a very creative problem solver. She’s also really athletic, I’m pretty sure she’s been in multiple martial arts tournaments.
In some versions of her, she takes sports and martial arts classes. She’s a bad@ss hero

These networks just need to stop doing live action shows all together, it’s tiring. Every cartoon doesn’t need a live action adaptation. they never do it justice. 😭😭😭 ESPECIALLY with the fashion, they let me down with bratz smh

I think the Bratz live action outfits were cute though. I watched the behind the scenes too where they talk about the costumes and how they gave them all distinct styles that went with their personalities

I think it's because both of the heathers and the Powerpuff girls have a very single-colour oriented design? I probably explained that badly, but I mean that each one has a certain colour

They’ll need a huge costume budget because the spies wore different outfits in every episode and were one of the only animated shows that did that.

i love it when channels do collabs with people who have the same audience as them, unlike when people do collabs to get viewers from each other's channels because I'm pretty sure everyone who follows you also follows Mina. it just feels so much more authentic, shmoxd and curriegoat did something similar as well, and it was great!

For the powderpuff girls leaked photos , all I know is that those costumes are from a flashback scene , kind of like remembering their “glory days “ cuz the show will take place years after they have stopped crime fighting and grew up ( they will get back to crime fighting tho )
Every look is so on point. My only thing is that the Starfire outfits looks like she can readily fight in it but also wear it daily. While Bubbles' outfits wouldn't be crime fighting ready but she'd totally rock those.
Last thing I had a thought Angelica Pickles would really like the mantra "Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss"
I just love seeing how different you two interpret the characters to give them different styles of outfits, but keeping the key elements so we can tell you've got the same character!

Honestly, at first I was mad about starfire in the titans live action series BUT, Anna Diop KILLED those outfits.
I love Daphne's styling! I actually take a lot of inspiration from Daphne, and always loved the idea of a soft mint green and a lavender color combo so, I love this!
This channel and HauteLeMode have single handedly made me question my major and if I should pursue a career in Fashion Merchandising.

I loved both outfits for Starfire but I can totally see Mina’s interpretation being more of her sister Blackfire’s outfit. In the cartoon Blackfire still lives in space so it would make sense that she’d still have a intergalactic feel to her outfit. Whereas the other outfit shows how starfire is more accustomed to earth but ofc still have the alien space vibes incorporated to it. Loved both outfits super cute

Both of you killed it for Daphne. Mina's Starfire fit was sick! For Bubbles, I would merge the best ideas from both your outfits. All four of the outfits for Angelica and Sandy were perfect!
Power Puff Girls could go Old Celine minimalist since they do live in a midcentury modern house. Very sleek lines, color block colors, no pattern just solids but maybe some interesting textiles and textures.

I make the argument that Daphne was never a label girl. Her family was definitely, and they saw Daphne as the odd one. She never showed a lot of skin either, so your choices were actually a bit shocking to me. But the color schemes and the two coats really make both outfits work.
I love that interpretation. Daphne needs her own movie stat! She's rich but pursues her passion for detective work/criminal justice. I think the live action made her out to be a stereo type of an airhead sassy girly girl.
The thing with the promo shot is they just took really basic, out of style outfits and then went with each girls color. Like in Scooby doo, daphne rocked like a big sun hat, some latex, like actually cool cuts and accessories that someone would feel fashionable wearing. It was still fun and campy with the colors, but you could easily see someone wear those outfits in different color ways and look super cool.

Yes! The Powderpuff Girl costumes looked really cheap! I am so glad you both addressed this. The Winx Saga had both horrible costumes and terrible hair styles. What is the reason for this? Low budgets?

you guys should analyze some of the cartoon network redesigns they did for the mmo fusionfall back in the day. the powerpuff girls got really good updates and there are some other iconic ones too! i wish the live action took more inspiration from it

I think if they approached PPG with an almost 'magical girl' concept with transformations, then I think Mina would work well for everday Bubbles and Tessa's would be really cute for superhero Bubbles
Honestly every outfit is like the characters closet or like them as different ages & that’s really cute
Ok I think I made the perfect Starfire outfit that combines both Tessa's and Mina's ideas while still being able to see Starfire as a teen. Imagine if Mina's corset top was the same colour as Tessa's purple skirt, and was laced up at the sides with strings hanging (the bottom part of the corset would be tucked into the skirt, to give that bodysuit side cut out illusion). Keep the purple thigh high heels and cropped jacket (have it be the same colour and fabric as the purple heels) but make the jacket more fitted and connected to the middle finger (just like how Mina's corset curves downwards, it's basically a smaller version of that but going towards her middle finger). I would've preferred if Mina's corset had a straight neckline and Tessa's heels were platforms but my outfit can still work. Lastly I would give her one accessory, an emerald ring on her pinky (maybe one on both hands). I also wanted to say that Mina's outfit alone could be something Starfire uses for a date or something.
