If you are considering changing your 203° Thermostat to a 180° this is what happened to me with the Mishimoto one. Not sure that this happens with all the other brands too. But in this video I tried to explain my experience with this thermostat.

I have also changed the water neck using Racing Red color from Billet Technology

Another great video bro!!! Yeah Mishimoto is a great company overall brother
I just ordered one today for my 22 rt, I’m glad I saw your video. Now I know what to do if my engine light comes on! Thanks for the video
Yes sir! You are very welcome!
Just installed onto my 22 R/T
How did yours do
@@despinoza805 any updates? im thinking of installing it on my 19 rt
Good video bro! Very informative and now your car will stay at a color ten when you visit Mexico !!
Love that water neck! You may continue to have intermittent CELs cuz the PCM still has the factory fan settings. My tuner adjusted all those settings for my 180 thermostat. You will get the "mechanical" benefit were the thermo will open at 180 degrees, but the fans wont assist until 214 degrees, hence u will see >185.
Yes I like the water neck! Looks so much better! Will do that after I unlock the PCM. Will be in the future and will be asking you advice at that point!
I noticed the temp gauge needle was in exactly the same position at 199 and 185 degrees. My Jeep is like that to. I think that is as high as the needle goes. I wish I had your digital read out.
Odd thing is I bought and have a 180 degree thermostat but I'm sitting at 168 to max 176 at the moment. Kinda confused on why it's not hitting 180 degrees. Also replaced the rad, rad hoses, and t stat housing. My thought was because it winter atm and now I have a 2 core rad over the original 1 core rad. So interested to see what yall think.
What is the benefit of cooler water?
What’s the part number for the thermostat thanks
Has the light stayed off? Usually disconnecting the battery resets the lights but they can come back after driving a little bit. I'm guessing that light just means the engine "didn't warm up fast enough", due to the t-stat. I had the same issue in my 02 Ram when I put a 180 in it. Running in the summer in Texas was never a problem and no light. But when we get weather like this past week it's too cold outside and up comes the light. I actually have the same tstat, but I'm waiting until after winter to put it in for that reason.
Oh, I had a question for you too. How heavy did the stock inlet feel compared to the billet one? I know I'm insane but if I can save even a few ounces I'll do it lol
You nailed it!
After I took the negative off battery it stayed off. I'm 3 days out since that so far so good. Gonna doba review mid summer see how it's working in 100+ degrees.
@@Scavenger1320 uhhh good question. Did not really focused on the weight. Will meed to email billet tech to ask bout that.
I thought once you did this mod you had to get a tune or re tune if you already did one too the car to change the pcm and the cooling fans so they come on at 180 degrees. I’m also doing this mod soon to my 300 it already has been tuned so I guess I’m going to take it back after the mod so I don’t have this check engine light
Hola saludos.
You have to re-tune your car and have the tuner set the fan settings to match the new thermostat temp probably low speed on at 194 off 189 high speed on 210 off 199
Hey man. Sorry for the late reply! You are correct. Everyone is telling me that same thing. Unfortunately, I sold the car before I got to tune it!
how much does a tune cost for this
Have the same question…
Going to do this on my SRT8 if the CEL pops up and I disconnect my battery will that stop the light coming up in the future ?
Also is this a good mod even if I don’t tune my car to change the fan temp ?
It has come back up. My car has not been tunned. The colder it is the more chance you have it pops back up. Now that is getting warmer it hasn't popped in a month. When it's cold it was a weekly thing.
About the fans that is a good discussion people who has their car tuned says it makes a difference and I spoke to many other people w/o and our opinion is. That we see the temp steady lower and it looks like it helps. But we are not 100% sure.
Would this also happen to a 2006 charger rt?
I would guess so! Because you are out of warranty, you can actually tune your car and be more efficient and at that point and they can make the fans turn on earlier and avoid check engine light.
I'm still getting the check engine light after disconnecting the battery
With my 2016 Challenger it kept bugging especially when it's cold weather. I took the same thermostat out of my 2016 and put it in the 2021 widebody and no check engine light yet in 7 months of ownership.
Yo tambien quiero uno de eso themostats perro no quiero el check engine light
Si mano. Eso no me gusto para nada! Espero q no vuelva a prender. Sino los contactare de nuevo y tengo el original alli guardado!
You still have it?
Nopes. I sold the car.
Fans don’t come on sooner based on thermostat!! It’s computer controlled.
Sorry for my late reply! Yes, a lot of people mention that to me. You are correct. Unfortunately I sold that car already. Got a LS engine nowadays and still new to me.
This video makes me loses brain cells. he didn't even tune the car and expects it to work normally.
I know multiple people who has this done and did not tune their car! But the difference is that they where all 2019+ models.
Today I have a 2021 model and placed the same thermostat in. And it has never done that!
I have a 2019 392 Daytona Im trying to swap my radiator as well as my thermostat you’re saying the 180 thermostat on newer 19+ models won’t throw a check engine ?
Save money and get one from local parts store. But its a good mod.
