  • Lower temperature thermostats are pretty common modifications with a wide variety of performance cars. The cooling benefits are obvious, but does this translate to any additional power on the dyno? We answer that question in this video with our test 2021 Ford Mustang GT!

    Man I’m really excited to trade in my truck to get one of these bad boys. I’ve been missing my 2016 gt a lot and it looks like all of the upgrades to the 2018+ are making it a straight monster after a few bolt ons.

    Do a ported cobra jet test
    Till this we don’t have any real Dyno numbers other than head say, this is specific to the GEN three car fyi
    We know how well it does on the 11-17 engines

    I was recently tuned on E85 and some other mods. Will I need to re-tune after installing this?

    This is only on a dyno not in the real world driving around though. Theres a reason why manufacturers want the engine at a set temp range for the materials and gaps in there engines, to low of temp will cause wear issues and possible water buildup in the oil.

      More you boost the engine with bolt-on more he will heat up. I have install a 160 degres thermostat on my Fusion 2.0 big turbo with full bolt-on and never have a problem since 2019.

    Just purchased this for my 14 yote. This proves efficiency with the product. My tuner keeps steady on its not needed especially with the mods i have. But living in Tx with temps out here i think otherwise. What was the constant marginal head temps between the stock and this product besides power made?

    • @NationalSpeedInc
      @NationalSpeedInc  Před 2 lety +1

      I do not believe we logged cylinder head temps during these runs, also, I believe those temps are inferred with no actual sensor in place.

    Will the computer add timing on a stock tune with the thermostat?

    • @samintrepid
      @samintrepid Před 7 měsíci +1

      Steeda said in a video, when a engine heat up the computer lower the timing by himself and when the engine run cooler the computer increases the timing.

      He said at lower temps they can disable the ECM & add/set the timing. So yes to your question…dummy. Just kidding. But seriously folks iDK if those small numbers are worth the change are they? As i recall when i was in Fla all the cars came w/170 thermostats. If u live in the south u might wanna check what your car typicaly runs at.

      Did he say or does anyone know what the original thermostat was rated at? I'm assuming 195?

    • @timmarston2258

      It does not require a re-tune, however it is recommended to adjust your fan settings to maximize the full potential of the lower temp thermostat. The installation instructions from Reische Performance provide the new recommended fan settings for your low/high speed fan. I am running the Reische 170 thermostat on my 03 Cobra and it made a significant difference in my coolant temps.
