- 180° or 160° T-Stat installation & review. My experience with the T-stat install & how it has held up since putting it in. If you are looking to keep your engine a little cooler a 160° thermostat will help. In this video we install a new T-Stat and review how it has performed after a few months. Is the 160° to cold? Should you stick with the 180° Tstat? I would like review & answer all of these questions.
The T-stat is one of the best cheapest mods you can do for your charger or challenger. Doesn't matter if you have a scatpack, SRT, hellcat, RT or v6 - this mod will work for you! This should work in any Hemi which includes R/T, Daytona, T/A.

Switched to 180 on my 392 and love it. Runs significantly cooler on the highway and I can feel the difference. One thing that cracks me up about these t-stat replacements videos is how people try to save the coolant coming out! I mean, caught mine with a bag and dumped it and put in NEW coolant. Don't be cheap
I went from a 91c thermo to a 82c and I had a very positive result. Before I was getting 93c to102c temps. After cooler thermo, my temps are 83c to 94c. Side effect also resulted in a cooler running ZF transmission (by about 6c), since coolant also cools auto tranny. This was on an Aussie FORD Falcon FG 6 cylinder Barra located in Brisbane Australia.
Sweet video - I actually just bought a 180, Ill probably install it here soon
Def a very easy install - you shouldn't have any issues
Also, just bought your shirt with the challenger and charger on it. Showin love to the fam💯
Thank you very much - def appreciate the support! How did it come out?
love those eibach sportlines! Glad the 160 tstat is workin for ya.
they really make the Charger sit so nice! Love it. Thanks man - the 160 is def working nicely, so far
Wow, I did not know the install was this easy. Good to know!
yah not bad. Probably 10-15 minutes total. Just need to make sure you update your tune after
Great video. Keep them coming!
Thank you - will do!
I did this to my R/T with the 180 thermostat from Mitshimoto. I expected coolant to come out, but what i didn't expect is damn near 1/2 gallon to come out haha otherwise like you said a very easy install. HOWEVER, after about 8 months I started noticing coolant on my garage floor and my coolant levels dropping rapidly so I took it into a shop and i expected a split hose or something. What I did not expect is that the damn thermostat broke in half inside the housing and somehow caused the coolant to start leaking out.
Luckily my local dealer is awesome and replaced it with a OEM one under "warranty" (thank god they were awesome) and it didn't cost a dime. I emailed Mitshimoto about it and they asked for all sorts of photos and are sending me a replacement. Unfortunately this was about a month ago and they have been back-ordered and are expected back in stock to ship on 1/1/19 :/
ANYWAYS, Hope your experience goes better than mine in the long run:)
wow that's crazy man. Glad you caught it without really running into any major issues!
Another good informative video thanks little guy is growing like a weed😊 also enjoyed the marvel ad
hahaha he really is growing up super fast! Thanks man for watching & supporting the channel - def appreciate it
I'm new but I have catching up and I luv the content. Great Vids. Subscribed
Thanks man for the support - def appreciate it. Hope some of this is entertaining and/or helpful
@@RTLife I drive a Rt challenger 2016 I had it 4 months. THIS IS AWESOME
Yeah, did a 180 on my 392. Keeps it right in this Florida heat and humidity. Don't know if I'd go any lower. Especially with the climate you're in in winter. Could be rough warming up.
The beast does sit nice ! Looks hot !
Thanks man, def made the stance look so much better - I appreciate it buddy
Awesome R/T Life《☆》If 160 is good in the winter it will be excellent in the summer ☻
Agreed. I can see if he can lower the temps a little more in the summer
3 questions :
When the temperatures dip colder if there are any issues with heating the vehicle would you be willing to do a follow-up video? The second is I in Winter I still like to drive with the window down and the roof open ( down to 15° +/- ) have you noticed any cooler air coming out when the car's heat is running? Will there be a summer video covering performance and whether or not it helps keep oil temps. down
Yes - I can do a follow up video in another month or so answering other questions. It does take longer to get up to temp though. Have to really document it though. Once the car is warm after 5 mins or so there are 0 issues blasting warm air.
If in install a 180 can I self adjust on my Diablo or do I need to bother Hemifever to adjust my tune? If so what do I adjust?
Just installed my 160 finally without a tune i went up to like 180 stayed in the 70s a little bit too lets see how it goes but so far so good!!
What are your avg coolant temps and outside temps?
@@cat5tracker581 well if im on the free way n its a decent day maybe pushing like 80 my car goes down to 160 coolant temp my engine temp can go as low as 180 or 85 but it jumps back up too the 200s in the street but also cuz I haven't got a tune for the car
@@that50skid67 Thanks for reply. Whats difference from engine temp and coolant temp? If I can get mine to stay at 180* i'd be happy. Just ordered mine.
@@cat5tracker581 well coolant is just how much air is hitting your coolant it don't really matter bro my boy had told me that lol but anyways the engine Temps go down on the highway for me so its perfect for long drives cuz my engine is cool asf but when I start driving in the street the engine will shoot back up too 220 or 230 depending on your driving because I don't have a tune so I would recommend a tune as he says in the video
@@that50skid67 I was confused so I looked it up. So Google says one is anolog and the other is digital. They both use the same sensor. Thanks for your time.
Better monitor your oil temps. If the oil doesn't get to at least 220 it wont burn off crankcase condensation very well. Ideally, oil temp would be more like 230.
Man I watch all your mod vlogs and consider what’s best for my build. I have a 2017 Durango r/t. I wishing I can get it to at least 575whp. I what a sleeper so bad.
You can get there - these 5.7L hemi's have a ton of solid options for modding/upgrading
Hey R/T I know it's been quite a while since u installed your 160 degree thermostat. Have u had any issues whatsoever during all this time?
Yeah man she sits real nice!🔥🔥
makes the stance just look so much nicer right! I love it - thanks man
@@RTLife oh I finally figured out how to order your shirts 😁👍
Just got my 180• thermostat installed , would you recommend me going with the diablo tuner ?
Great video, I've seen 160 thermostats but was thinking the car would run to cold in the winter. And did you have to change the setting for the fans, if so... to what?
I have a custom tune from Greene Racing - he factored the 160 into the updated tune. Not sure what he adjusted in the tune.
It’ll still heat soak eventually... unless you only make short trips and don’t let it warm up before a short trip.
I have a 2006 300 srt8 would it hurt my car to install the 160 t-stat would u recommend i have the hypertech power programmer too i can set it to run on that degree cus mine runs hot all the time it doesnt kick on til 203% degree i want it to run around 180 under 200 for sure what do u recommend?
Very nice vid. Always dig the content. I plan to buy a shirt next payday...went a wee bit overboard for Christmas on the kids...in the meantime I'll watch all the ads without skipping...Not to be that guy...but it should be 'too' cold...
Thanks man, def appreciate the support! I hear you on Christmas bills stacking up. Overall the 160 has been a solid add, def no complaints here.
After much deliberation.. screw it im just going to go with the 160. Thanks R/T!
I dig the one with the reticle on the pony. Might have to get that.
I had some work done to my Challenger last year and asked them to put a 180 in it, but it didn't change the operating temperature and still reads 200 +. So, does that mean they really didn't put one in and just said they did it ?
Do you know what makes the 5.7 in the trucks produce 20 more ponies then the passenger cars, and think that would have been the other way around
Very nice. Did he put some sealer on the back of the t-stat? i couldn't tell. I've got a 160 and 180 but I'll likely got the route you did. Run the 160 but have Jay Green update my tune for a 180.
I need to ask him, I don't believe he did. I have 0 regrets about going 160. Was def a nice add on
Hey RT, do you use the Mopar Coolant 10 year/150k miles (purple) OAT coolant? My coolant for my 2016 sxt looks like it's more dark pink/red and was wondering if I could just run universal coolant to top off and not risk mixing HOAT and OAT in my coolant and causing sludge in my tubes.
Yes I use the mopar coolant. I would just drain the mopar coolant & use royal purple coolant if you want to use something else.
It’s always better to change your coolant every so many miles/years
Definitely next mod I'm getting done... I have to get it ready for summer time, it gets real hot here in Vegas. What brand did you get? Got my Alpha Pack decals in today....😁
I really do recommend this, solid add on. The link below will take you to what I bought. Once you put on the Alpha decal def hit up the alpha instagram. We will add you to the group chat.
I'll check out the link. I installed the decal already couldn't wait any longer lol. I"ll head up the Instagram page.
Thanks.

That is the link, forgot to include it
I run without a thermostat on my rt challenger. In the summer you can’t tell. What’s more high flow than no thermostat at all? I ran it in the winter and temps would hang around quarter of the gauge and car freaks out and turns fans on at full speed.
Keep an eye on that. I've never done this on a hemi, but on many GM's. 180 was the coldest you ever want to go N/A, unless you are running some sort of crazy boosted setup.
Will do. So far the car warms up without any issues & gets to about 180-185
Nah!! I run a Hypertech 160 with Hypertech Tuning in my Chevy 4.3 S10 SS with zero issues.
You have to change the ecu setting for the thermostat which is what the hypertech tune did.
And yeah adjust the electric fan or fans accordingly.
And my 4.3 is N/A not boosted. Been running it that way for nearly 20 years
Did You have to Adjust Your Radiator Fan Setting to Lower Temps? And/Or Can You?
180 is perfect just make sure you turn down the temps on your fans with your tuner
yah it's usually between 180-185 once the charger is warmed up
Just have to make sure it doesn’t get put in backwards! I have had to fix backwards thermostats many times in my career. Yes this thermostat is easy. I have done several thermostats and water pumps on these engines. I wonder how this affects performance whether it’s positive or negative. Engineers design engines to have optimal performance at a certain engine temperature! Just curious
I don't think it tips the scale all that much in any direction. The only point I can make is when they design an engine from factory it's to get more a combination of performance & economy. When you mod you remove that economy side more & more. I believe stock it's 220. If I run into any issues at any point I will def report it back to you guys
Factory is 203°, so high for emissions to get a complete burn. I believe they recommend running at 190°+ tho because of the heat expansion. I run a 192° in my 5.7 for that reason but a few degrees colder at around 180° shouldn't cause any kind of problems even long term unless you're forged
@@732Mopars didnt know that. Very interesting information from you 2 gentlemen. I always thought that if it was running the 180° thermostat, then it's perfect. But as you explained, it might have emission issues. But the engine will be more chill and the performance will be better
@@732Mopars curious why would it have an issue if forged?
+Bright White Hemi (JJMoto243) I ran a 180 in my 2014 RT and the coolest I would get once warm was 185 on the freeway. The RT Road and Tracks have a slightly lower thermostat than the standard RTs. My 2014 RT ran at 203 like you mentioned and my 2016 Rt Road and track runs at 197. I never bothered getting a 180 because the road and track runs a little cooler and the fan settings will cool it to 197. It's only 12 degrees warmer the the coolest I could run a 180 on the highway. In theory a 180 would be a little better with the factory fan settings on the road and track vs my RT. Only draw back with the 180 was in the bitter cold. My car sometimes wouldn't get to 180 degrees on my 14 mile drive to work because I get on the freeway before the car gets warmed up. In bitter cold spells I did worry about it not running warm enough.
What temp thermostat should I use in the summer
Aways felt like the 5.7 ran a little to hot, 180 running temp makes alot more sense, and gives a lot more wiggle room before overheating than the 203 I believe that is stock.
Couldn't agree with you anymore on that
With the 180 in my Challenger, the temp gauge will usually hover around 190 degrees. Stop & go driving makes the temps jump, but cruising on the highway they stay low. I'm in AZ, so I'll be switching to the 160 as soon as I get the silicone hoses.
DJ G-Roc why not just go with the factory hoses?
@@riology2234 Have you seen the silicone hose kit from HPS Performance?
Question for ya, I’m trying to snag this thermostat, but the link you posted is sold out sadly. Was the part number you used 16405? I have a Motorad 170 but it swings to 200+ on pulls. How high does yours swing full throttle?
This is another spot to get the 160 www.jegs.com/i/Milodon/697/16405/10002/-1
My temps seem to never go over 185
R/T Life really? So even if you held it full throttle from a standstill to, say, the end of a 1/4 mile pull, it’ll still chill around 185ish?
@@04EP3Hatch I wanted to know the answer also.
what shop have you gone for the cam other installs? location and name?
It's my Friend in NJ that did it
Was there any cons for installing this on your car? I'm thinking about getting one before I send in logs to Hemifever so he can adjust fans also. The 180 degree one was the one I'm talking about.
Just gives the tuner the ability to lower the temp past 180. When I had it in my temps were around 185 on a regular
@@RTLife When you had the 180 in or 160 in. Meaning you swapped which one out?
So how did it perform when your stepping on it multiple times in winter ? Then how did it end up performing during the summer with the ac on and stepping on it?
My temps stayed around 180 no matter what - that is what it was tuned to be. The 160 just gives the tuner flexibility if they want to go down further
I just got a 170 thermostat from Jet Performance. Have you seen info on it?
So can I go with a 180 without a tune to get the little longer cooler engine affect as well?
I wouldn't mess with anything but an intake/exhaust without updating the tune
Ooooh copy
What temperature do you have your fans coming on ?
Great video.
Thank you Sid - hopefully it helps some people looking into this down the road
Does your heater work ok, I may switch mine to 180 for winter
Do the 2011-2014 chargers share the same style t stat as the newer models?
I believe they do. 203 range T-Stat
I would like to hear about your cars temperament in hotter weather with it. I just bought a milloden 160 for my 71 440 challenger. In Houston heat it’s runs way different in mid afternoon vs mornings with a 180 stat. It heats up . Honestly temp control starts in the radiator. Moving to a more efficient design that can pull more heat off engine is in the near future.
I used to run a 160 in my 1997 camaro. The only thing I had to do in that car was program fans to come on early. Some say you have advanced cylinder wear with a colder operating temp. Some also say your oil never heats up enough and you get condensation in the oil.
I think it has to do with your climate you live in. Like you say in the video, it doesn’t keep temps at 160. It’s higher up around 180.
I will check but the every time I have checked in the past it was around 185 no matter what weather it is outside. I will check again now that it's blazing how out though.
If you try and buy it off Amazon it says it won't fit newer Hemis...I'd love to have a 160° for this FL heat in my 5.7 Challenger. Any advice or YOLO? lol
Buy it here - I haven't had any issues to report back www.gaugeperformance.com/collections/engine-cooling-challenger
Dang says sold out brother.. I guess 180 it is..
Just got the mishimoto 180 stat for my c what temps do I set my programmer for my fans?
Around 180
Hey R/T, I noticed my operating temps in my Jeep are around 220ish. I want to get that down a little without doing anything crazy. I recently changed my water pump, it was on the way out so I changed the thermostat with the oem temp one. If I changed the thermostat to a 180 or even a 160 would that help lower my temps? I don’t want to do a tune due to my warranty
Thanks bro stay safe out there
Do 160
Which one would be recommended for a 6.1 hemi?
Another thing for guys swapping theirs out to watch out for is that in the winter if your car doesnt get up to operating temps fast enough, you will throw a check engine light. This would happen to me multiple times last winter when we would have temps around 0 degrees. After about 5 minutes of driving a CEL would pop on talking about low operating temp. Nothing to worry about, I cleared mine with my Tazer or my Diablosport I3 tuner. Unfortunately without a custom tune, there is no way to reprogram operating temps.
Just a heads up. Happy Hemi Days!
Nice info. This will def help people having any issues down the road
If it doesn’t get to 160 within 15 minutes twice it throws the code. I’ll run in manual mode to keep the rpms up a little higher to get it to 160 a little quicker.
@@CJ101RC Explains why people warm up their vehicles before driving. I bet it helps.
I got a question i got 13 challenger rt just install 180 degree thermostat u think i can go 160 only just for summer cuz i do like taking to the track lol
It's def an easy enough install & it's not expensive. Just update the tune back & forth
Gotcha
Do I need a tune right away to install the 180 thermostat?
Yes you do
Hey bud i have a question. When he did the thermostat did the use the old stock gasket and put it on new one.
You just drop that new Tstat in & that's it. Just make sure you're tuned for it
The reason I was asking was the new thermostat didnt come with new gasket.
This is off topic. But I think the 2019 charger scatpacks have the same exhaust system as the 345 hemi. Because when it revs down, it has the same wet fart sound as the 345 hemi. But it can easily be fixed with a carven exhaust. The tone will sound more old school and deep, but it will be quiet down a bit. But I like it that way
I believe they use the same active resonators, which is why they sound identical now. The 392 I believe still has a wider exhaust pipe 2.5" over the 345's 2.25". So the 392 is a little louder
@@RTLife yeah it is.
So you installed, or rather had installed, a 160 degree thermostat. Your car runs between 180 and 185. What benefit does a 160 t-stat give? Running between 180 and 185 that 160 t-stat is constantly open. Please explain the benefit because I'm not seeing it.
When I put the thermostat 180, how do I set the fan?
Whats it do performance wise? And if its a 160 degree thermostat why is your car running at 177 in the video? I honestly just don’t know that much about this particular mod but it seems easy and inexpensive- which is my favorite kinds of mods haha. Thanks and yes I got the eibach sportlines put on last week and I can not stop staring at my chargers new stance- it looks so good it should be illegal! Haha
my RT usually runs around 180-185 degrees because of the tune. I do have a 160 so in the summer months I can use it to run cooler if I want. Keeping the hemi running cooler will slightly help performance. Not a game changer but it all adds up in the end
It does look pretty damn cool sitting low & sleek man, and have been thinking about doing the same with my Challenger as well. Although I am leaning more towards coilovers, and just like it that you can easily adjust them to any configuration you wish. Hey I'm lookin to get a Tstat and found some good quality US made ones, but wanted your opinion on which temp to get. Dusterhoft tuning has them on sale right now for a little under $15 and was going to get it last week when it was 30, so I'm glad that I waited and must be a Corona special going right now or something LOL. Was also looking at the ones on high horse performance and are $27, but they are 160 and wondered what you think would be better for the desert climate. I don't run it much in the summer months anyway, but when l do it's easy does it and is usually at night when the beating sun has gone down. The only reason that I take it out at all in the summer months, is because it's just too much fun to drive and can't take going very long without that adrenaline man. So anyway the other one is 180-degree, and just thought that maybe the 160 would be better for this 1k' elevation desert that we live in and wanted to know what your overall opinion is before I purchase one. Do you think the difference really wouldn't matter that much to justify not getting the one on sale ?
having it lowered really gives it a nice stance - you will like seeing your Challenger with less wheel gap. Let me what you end up doing & if you like it.
@@RTLife yes exactly man, and definitely has alotta pluses. Went back and edited my comment because I had a question for you, so will you please go to my original posting and that way I don't have to write it over again

I love the look - makes the stance so much better! Def happy I did it - Thank you
Hey R/T where did you get your hood from and for how much.
it's called Killer Bee - I got it on BMC extreme website. I think it was around $650-700
Hey I know it doesn’t have much to do with this video but I need new tires and I was wondering if 275s all around would be a good choice. I have an charger road and track pkg with the stock 20” rims ...thanks for your input in advance
You shouldn't have any issues at all. What tires are you looking into?
To be honest I’m not sure...it will be the first time buying for this car. It’s a 2014 if that makes a difference
@@jessealtland7934 is she a cruiser or performer and are they 20x9 and what kind of climates do you experience? I'm asking because this might help other people give you better advice. Do not blindly take my advice I was the person asking about tires a couple of months ago
T/A Plus Hemi they are the stock rims so I think 8.5? And I live in Philadelphia but it’s not necessarily my daily because I drive my truck as well. I won’t be driving it in the snow that’s for sure lol
I have 275 all around and was thinking of 245 in front for weight savings lol
Bro i did this and unplugged the MAF sensor right above the hose so it wasnt in the way i failed to disconnect the battery! Now i got a check engine and remote start shuts off 10 secs after starting help!
I still don’t understand why you have to change your Thermostat (for what reason) and what are the benefits of changing?
What coolant do you use? Have you tried Royal Purple?
mopar coolant - I use royal purple oil
R/T Life well I suppose you would have to use the factory suggested coolant for warranty purposes. Great decision on the oil though. Royal Purple is life!
The only issue I have with the 160° thermostat in my cammed car is that it takes longer for the coolant to warm up to get heat going in the car on cold days.
yah it does take a little longer. What is your operating temp once it's warmed up?
@@RTLife about 175 to 180 right now.
Uhhhh... its a colder thermostat. Its gonna warm to 160 & open before a warmer one. Then close earlier.. did i miss something on this comment??? Wowza
What size tires do you have in the back?
I have 315's in the back
So what if I don’t have a j green tune and I got a stock hemi 5.7L can I still use this 160 degrees one
You're going to want a tune with the 160 - your computer should know you messed with the Tstat
So what can I just get the 180 degree then without a tune
Hey rt my Dodge Charger rt is running 215 coolant temp is that good
yah that's where the stock temps should be.
Is there any reason 2012 to 2014 does not have locked ecu's and 2015 and above does
Not 100% sure why in 2015 - I've heard some blame Fiat for this
Could we run it with out a tune ?
Is your fan constantly running?
I have an RT Hemi too From 2005 Era.. I don't have a Tune Yet.. I have been thinking about installing 160 Tstat and every possible thing that comes with it... So I thought, Cooler Engine temp Means Radiator Fan will Not/Never Come One.. ?? Since they kick on around 210-220. And the Coolant will always around 160-180 F.
So if I put 180 stat would I need to tune my 15 charger RT?
Yes update your tune
What tuner do you recommend? Also I have another question a little off topic... what radiator would you recommend?
I’m going to buy a 160 thermostat for my 19 charger rt, this Texas heat ain’t playing
Even though it says for all Chrysler models it’s still fits perfect with dodge 5.7 it’s not very Explanatory on the website????????
I pulled my thermostat on my '11 392 and it said 203° is that really the stock temperature?
Not sure what temp is tuned for stock
Hello thanks for the info. If I don’t have an unlocked pcm or a tuner will buying this thermostat still help at all or will it still go over 200 degrees? I don’t have a tuner yet but can I just buy thermostat and pop it in?
You should really tune your ride if you change out the T-Stat.
I just put the 180 in like 10 minutes ago. Warming the car up to see if my fans kick in when I tell them to. MADE A MESS xD
How did it go?
Well my oil pressure spiked alot so I increased fan temps to 185 to get the oil a little warmer, it was alot peppier though, but max psi was 12 more than it used to be
Update, it sat for a full day and instead of flowing back into my overflow reservoir, it is damn near empty so unless I have a coolant leak.. smh -_- nothing's easy witha Chrysler lol
MR Hyde ONO did you have a coolant leak as I have similar issue as I replaced thermostat now a seem to be losing coolant but pressure test shows nothing
I recently bought an older Buick with the 3800 motor. I was having all sort of codes popping, from transmission to emissions, 5 in total. I ran around the car checking vacuum and voltage and could find nothing wrong, or a reason why.
But, I knew of one issue, seeing as it is winter here in Michigan... The heat, there was not that much, sufficient, but not how it should be. The temp gauge was only hitting the 1/4 mark on the gauge. I plugged my scan tool in and discovered the temp was only getting to 140*. My first thought, stuck thermostat. I pulled the old one, and discovered it was a 180* unit, vs the 195* that GM calls for...
I replaced that, now have heat, the engine temp is getting up to 200*, and then I discovered all of the codes are now gone. The most frightening code was the dreaded P1811 code regarding the transmission and shifting.
The car now shifts normally, and runs much smoother, as it is now getting up to proper operating temperatures. This is all makes perfect sense, especially with the transmission. It was never getting up to proper temps, same with the emissions. The ECU was loosing its mind, and throwing codes galore for good reason, and possibly damaging the transmission.
I see no reason to do this. The folks that design these systems know what they are doing, they spend millions of dollars and time working out the operations, don't go screwing them up like the fool that installed this 180* thermostat in my motor. I was looking at time and money fixing all of these codes, throwing money away for parts that did not need to be replaced, all because some moron thought a 180* thermostat would create some sort of magic.
The folks that design cars do so for performance & comfort purposes. This 160 or 180 Tstat is meant for those that are looking to keep their engine running a little cooler for even better performance not overall comfort. Many aftermarket upgrades sacrifice comfort for performance. I've run a 160/180 t-stat for 4+ years & with a proper tune update - all is great.
@@RTLife Still does not pass the smell test. I see this in the diesel community, never ends well.
Milodon is saying on Amazon that the #16405 high flow 160 degree stat is only for 1978 and earlier Mopar V-8's, not for Hemi's.
These hemis really do need to run cooler. Mu Daytona would freakin pour off heat it was crazy!
oh yah, I agree with you on that. That engine works up a lot of heat!
These work on the 3.6?
Which rims are those ?
If you put a 160 stat in your hemi and you have the tune turn the fans on at 160- if you have a radiator and cooling system of sufficient capacity in your car then it will run 160 or 165.
Yes - I have my RT running 180-185 though. I got the 160 for the potential to go lower if ever needed
That was a catch can right, witch one is it?
yes. I got a z-bracket billet off of ebay for $100. It has done the job pretty good.
@@RTLife I liked that braket I will search for it thanks
Quick question why isn't anyone going to auto parts stores to get these why are people going to miss him motor and other companies get it be some kind of superior thermostat I know at events in AutoZone they have the 180s that fail open just curious
Not sure. seems like most just like buying online now
I live in south Florida where it gets higher that 90 with an 85%+ humidity during the summer and the lowest it gets here during winter is in the 60s. Would you recommend the 160 or 180 for me? Im constantly getting heat soaked with the factory thermostat
Crazy how you showed the Merch on this video my 345 Hemi hurting feelings t-shirt just came in today lol

Where can I get the murch what's the website
Should you not do this if you don't have a tuner?
you can do it but it's not worth doing unless you re-tune
@@RTLife a regular tune or performance tune I'm new to my 57 but I don't have this type of vehicle whatever SUV working on slowly
Purchased 160 from Gauge 2 months ago...sent me 2-180s. Still haven't gotten the 160.

i have Dodge Challenger SRT V8 hemi 392 6.4Ltr 2013 model i am having overheat issue don't know what to do. Workshop/ garage asking too much money and saying they will open engine. Please advice. I live in UAE Dubai
Radiator issues?
@@RTLife actually there was leakage coolant was spilling down then i took it to garage after inspection they told me that the leakage isn't in Radiator. Leakage is in the heater. Then with a hose the disconnected the connection to heater to stop leakage.
@@RTLife one more thing i would like to mention there was an issue of fan belt , tensioner and main crank pully there was sound coming from it upon checking they said main pully was damaged and need to change all. So i got them new
@@RTLife the pin on temperature gage going up and down while driving
Shoaib cheema was the sound like a supercharger whine mine is doing that at a idle when i accelerate it goes away but when i hit a stop it makes that noise
Just keep this in mind everyone..........too low of a stat will cause your engine to overheat. Most stats are full open at approx 20 deg over initial opening temps. At 180 deg, this 160 stat will not open any further to help cool the engine. If anything, it won't slow the flow enough so the coolant has time to disperse the heat thru the radiator and will just get hotter and hotter. I t seems to have a natural running temp of around 180. I'd put no lower than a 180 in it and you prob wouldn't see a diff in normal temps but would prob help cool it better when you are running it harder. I've seen engines than people ran their own weight of oil and their choice of stats because they "read it somewhere" that's what they should do and have major oil sludging problems. Just something to think about.
even though I had a 160 - my tune was for 180. The 160 just gives the tuner some flexibility on hot races days etc.
Worried about your temps yet when buddie was installing your crank he was hanging over it with a cigarette in his mouth haha
not an ash dropped either
