    Who Am I?
    I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot-related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands from time to time!
    I have owned boots for decades, but to be honest I have owned them as functional pieces of footwear. It wasn't until early 2020 when COVID struck that I started online shopping boots to an obsessive degree. I love the aesthetic of boots and I love finding out more about how they are made. I now own an insane number of boots, and one day I may sell some of them (just not right now).

    Natty CXL is my favorite iteration of CXL. I have the natty Indy boot, but it’s proven to be a real B to get some good patina on. All my other examples in natty CXL have been easy to gain some beautiful character from sun and use

      @@Bootlosophy don't know yet. The leather balm (Not exactly the same as shoe cream) darkens the leather very slightly. Sahir makes no color change @ all from what I've noticed.

    I believe Jojoba oil has replaced whale oil for most commercial applications, so not a marine oil but a vegetable oil.

    Do you recommend or have experience with the use of any sort of protectant spray to use following cleaning and conditioning. In Canada, during the winter months, any source of moisture the boots will be exposed to will contain a heavy concentration of salt. On my top grain leather golf shoes I use Collonil's "Carbon Pro" spray. It does not darken the leather, makes cleaning much easier and still allows the leather to benefit from the oils and waxes in the conditioner I use.
    I know that both "Carbon Pro" and "Apple Guard" are in popular use by women on their extremely expensive Louis Vuitton handbags.

  • @DM-ul5yc

    I've got a pair of cheap Caterpillar boots whose leather shows the same behaviour. They've cost me about 100$. The loose grain on them is pretty bad. I guess some asian producers poorly replicate the process of tanning.

    • @Bootlosophy
      @Bootlosophy  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Not the tanning so much as what part of the hide is chosen. Loose grain will generally show in parts of the animal with fat, so belly and so on. Makers of cheaper boots use all of the hide. More expensive ones tend to throw away more and hence raise the cost per square foot.

    • @DM-ul5yc
      @DM-ul5yc Před 4 měsíci
