Third, when the time comes to service the watch, it'll be more expensive than it's worth. Fourth, what kind of legacy will you leave? There are pro's who will actually do it right, I know I had buddies who made hand bags and would run them threw 5x inspection for any issues and such. Once it is exactly a replica you can call it the real thing NOBODY except the company themselves can even attempt to prove it's fake. They might even be stumped
You can spot even a super clone under magnification, you don’t need to open it up. But admittedly it’s getting harder to do. The best way to spot a fake is look for the crown etching, which even cheap clones have, but what they don’t do is etch it at multiple layers of the crystal. Ie each dot of the crown is a different layer to others. There’s also other tells with the quality of the engravings on the interior bezel, but even these slight differences are quickly disappearing. The movement is sure way to ensure authenticity and the difference even on cloned movements is huge.

Along the way learn as much as you can.

Knowing Rolexes are actually mechanical sometimes does encourage me to think about buying one, but the fact that they patented the default, easiest and cheapest way to make a watch movement which forced other companies to make watches more expensively, and then stopped those manufacturers from selling them for more than Rolex could, just makes me very reluctant to support Rolex.
I bought a fake Rolex many years ago for 100 dollars which was a lot of money then. Back home it stopped working so I took it to a jeweller and said ok it's a fake, can you change the battery. He opened it up and said that it had a Rolex movement that wound up with hand movement and not battery !! 30+ years on still works perfectly.
The first thing I would do is install a timegrapher app on my smart phone and place it near the suspected fake to measure the frequency of the ticks. Rolex is unique in that it has 8 ticks to a second where as most mechanisms available to private watchmakers have six ticks to a second. If you're really sharp eyed, you can just watch the second hand and see if it moves six times between second markings or eight times. Of course the Highbeat Grand Seiko put Rolex to shame during the 60's with ten ticks per second and the modern Grand Seiko Spring Drive doesn't even have an escapement (ticks) as though it is a mechanical watch, it uses a quartz vibration negative feedback through induction to slow down and regulate the unwinding, when first wound, the Grand Seiko Spring Drive's second hand runs really fast till the induction and quartz vibration builds up, it's a fascinating way to use quartz oscillation in a mechanical watch, it's almost worth it to wait till the spring runs down just to wind it up again from the start to see the inductive effect build up again.
I held a clone of my Explorer side by side and it was literally identical down to the tiny engravings. The only way to know if your Rolex is fake is to open it up and inspect the movement.
