Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands and makers as well as the collectors!
In this channel, I will give information found in my research about the brand, the construction, and the materials, but I will express my personal opinions about how I feel about the boots reviewed.

If any video is sponsored (where I receive cash payment), I will declare it clearly in the video and in the description. Even if a video is sponsored, I will review the product openly and honestly giving you my personal opinion, warts and all, of the product. I will refuse any sponsorship deals where I am fettered in what I have to say.
I may be given products to review, which is different from receiving cash payment for reviewing an item. In these cases, I insist that the provider of the goods has no rights to what I say and may not review the video before I publish it. Again, my opinion will be honest and my own.

Hello. I am currently considering buying a pair of Jadd chromexcel boots and I was just wondering whether you have had to do much to prevent/repair scuffs in your boots, and whether yours are fully or only surface dyed?

@@Bootlosophy Thanks. I'm getting my first pair of better quality footwear and hoping for something that is on the smarter end of casual for work and pleasure (i know chromexcel is not inclined to be 'dressy').I see such variety in the finishes people end up with. Some get a refined look, while others look like they have beaten their shoes up behind the wood shed. You make some lovely videos and I have enjoyed watching several.

Exactly why I don’t understand the Edward. And returned them. It’s a dressier boot with more casual leather choices. Makes no since to me. Though I do love my black cxl diesel boots. The Leo last fits me perfectly.

Thank you for your video. I have the 8111, and I used the Red Wing boot oil - big mistake, they got dark and bland looking. I used some saddle soap and it's brought back some of the amber but I don't think it'll be like it ever was. I still love 'em, though, and it's given me more excuse to wear 'em to the dog park and mud and get them dirty knowing that I'm not going to do any damage to 'em, and maybe get some nice patina in them now, haha. Love the iron ranger in copper, though. I have the Weekender and 1907 in copper.

I don't understand the obsession of many people in these comments sections about how well something would go with a suit at a gala (which seemingly is the standard for "business casual" on the internet?). These look perfectly fine and decent as everyday shoes, and if well kept, can go great with jeans & dress shirts (which is what we would consider casually dressy here in Sweden). And importantly, they work AROUND the human body rather than against it - that to me is hugely underrated, and I'm happy that Jim Green also offer more "dressy" options while keeping the ergonomic benefits of a wider fit, and even giving you full custom options to chose size and styling independently rather than as a pre-baked and compromised package deal. The more I see of them as a company, the more I respect and become a fan of them. I own two sets of Red Wing moc toes currently, and am seriously considering some African Rangers as a better built sneaker alternative + Numzaans where I was thinking about some Iron Rangers before.

Ablation surgery is a hit or miss procedure, hopefully it works...The good news is that it is a relatively minor surgery as far as heart surgery goes, so complications are very unlikely. I'd say you might want to surprise the wife with some new shoes or boots :) The synthetic heel counters are really kind of tough, then do eventually soften up as the resins get broken apart on the fibers...I wish they'd go with a soft leather heel counter, even maybe consider using scraps. Compared to Nicks JIM greens break in fast, about a week or 3-5 days of wear. The round wide toe is so superior in fit to Nicks HNW last...it allows a lot of free movent of the toe joints but no slippage. Although slightly cheaper materials than Redwings...you are getting a lighter boot which adds a ton of comfort with each footstep. I think people in between a genuine wide E width or wanting somemthing in between EE and EEE width will love the fit. I take my JIm Green Razorbacks hiking more than my Nicks because...they fit better, are lighter and more agile. If Jim Green would build a 400$ boot with thicker higher quality leather components, I'd buy it for the last alone...its a great last for certain feet shape/sizes.

As boot enthusiast there are multiple American companies. One company you’ve mentioned in the past is thorogood. They used to have a heritage line 1892 line. There is a roofer boot called portage amongst these as well as a roofer boot line. Looks like they are bringing back the roofer boot. Love your channel, your knowledge, attention to detail and level headedness make for very interesting and informative videos. I wouldn't worry about training the tongue, Russell says you can use either method, on mine just smoothing the sides in makes for an easier lace, maybe some of their models have a wider gusset, but these don't need a PNW fold like Nick's and others do. Give your feet some time to adapt to these, you might not need more arch support. My soles cramp up after a few hours wearing Thursdays or Red Wings, but I could wear these hiking all day and not feel a thing, in fact they let my feet do their thing naturally, your foot musculature might change a bit for the better if ou wear these enough. For info the leather is made by S.B. Foot and is heavily wax and oil stuffed, the water resistance is amazing, and they need very little break-in at all. I love the way they smell ! Mine felt like slippers after only a few wears, and now after a 100km + wear they just keep getting better and better. I've been wearing my identical Backcountrys for a month now, mostly for hiking and dog walking in quite wet weather, with a few warm days. I'm used to wearing all leather hiking boots and shoes, these are a whole different level of comfort and they perform very differently, the main differences being the low drop, the flexibility of the soles, the suppleness of the shaft, and most importantly, the way they hold your heel down while gripping the instep, all the while leaving the forefoot to move quite freely. The difference in performance and comfort is appreciable due to this, not having your forefoot locked down actually reduced fatigue considerably for me, and the boots are incredibly surefooted with amazing ground feel when. you are side-hilling or on uneven terrain. They are quiet and there is minimal heel strike, another huge advantage over traditional hiking boots. All in all the best boots I've ever owned by far, I still love my Hanwag boots and La Sportiva shoes but these are in a different league. I wrote a big review on the Fedora Lounge for anyone who wants more in depth comments and impressions : www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/russell-moccasin-co.115085/
