I went back and forth in my mind between White’s MP’s and Nicks Americana’s. I ultimately chose the MP’s in black CXL. We’ll worth the six-month wait. I still plan on buying a pair of Nicks. Really like the look of their mock toe with leather midsole and Vibram outsole. Love your passion for boots. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with us.

I have around 6 pairs of the MP boots. Bakers Boots also had a clearance pair in brown shell I bought. I agree that the MP boots are also my favorites. Have other boots from Nicks, Wesco, Red Wing and others. Most quality boots, I have to size down a 1/2 but the MP boots, had to size down a full size.
@@williamswiger7547 A full size down from your normal heritage boot size? Their sizing guide is telling me to go down 1/2 a size from my normal boot size and go with EE width. I’ve been burned too many times before, definitely want to get it right on this one!

Nicks Urban Logger in brown waxed flesh (camping, parks and yard work). Whites 350 cruiser brown chromexl (casual attire) and finally Whites MP Sherman in burgundy (polished for dressier occasions, but still casual. Note, I only have 3 boots so you’ll have a tougher time deciding than I. Greetings from The Pacific NW (Seattle)
I have these in black waxed flesh and they’re astoundingly comfortable. They seem more elegant than rugged to me, though the matte finish isn’t something I see in a lot of the MPs featured online
i see way more creased Vibergs around than White's.. imo,, Viberg's leather often lacks 'rolled wear' with their CXL.. wheras White's.., I always see rolls rather than creases.. I still do want some 2030s.. or 2020s.. but I went MPs first bc that was what I was initially drawn to anyway.. I just love the tight double stitchdown on Viberg and the overall shape of their Service Boot.. I wanted black CXL.. but since I just got black MPs.. maybe I'll go with brown CXL instead now

These are the boots I want so bad. I know the PNW boot companies are best known for work boots, but their service boots are sooooo much better designed and built than literally anyone else's. Most other boots lack the silhouette of the MP. Now if only I could afford one... Also: love your videos, keep it up!

I have a pair of Alden 403 Indy boots in 9.5 D which fit me perfectly in width and arch. Do those MP fit similar to 403 in the same size? I asked this because you have both boots. I just bought these boots a week ago after I saw this video. I was already in the market for another pair of service boots, and honestly I wasn't looking to spend $700 on them, but this video just spoke to me, and those boots look amazing. I had to order them as a custom build directly through White's website. I got an email from someone in their orders department a few days later asking me to confirm the order before they sent it to the factory to be built, and to expect it to take 18-20 weeks, which means I won't get them until the end of this year, possibly early next year if there any delays. As my Dad always said, good things come to those who wait, which should be the case here I'm sure.

I like the look of the Sherman MP, but I'm teetering with the Truman Shrunken Bison (not in stock). I would like your opinion on the leather between the positive attributes of bison and Chromexcel (the concerns you mentioned in this video and others). I watched your Truman videos where you said you like the Truman's, but have enough pairs. White's are your Grail boot, but does the bison leather and having to guess the size/width make a difference to you. I'm shorter in height so my concern is the appearance of a long foot. I have Truman's and like the fit so I'm worried about going to a different last and all the guessing around the right size. That was a mouthful, but thank you in advance for any guidance.
There’s a great advantage in having a last fit you! Leathers are a personal preference IMO and shouldn’t be the deciding factor other than the look - comparing bison to CXL isn’t about performance as much as look.
I can't believe I'm making this comment, but: your left and right boot are laced differently with the left boot starting across the top and the right one starting under. Is this a boot lover thing? Love your vids, thanks, Tek!
My understanding is that aniline dyes are water soluble and therefore do dye all the way through the leather. Whereas pigment dyes only dye the surface. Wouldn't tea core leather be pigment dyed as it retains the original leather colour on the inside ? Or at least aniline dyed and then a pigment layer added on top to give the outer colour ?
Try the original 350 cruiser or the ‘bounty hunter’. You can call whites and order them custom if you want to add a cap toe or get them unstructured… I personally prefer them over the MP.
Im a 11.5 D in Redwing Iron Ranger, 12 D in most Allen Edmonds, Truman 79 last Im between 11.5 and 12, Whites MP in the mp last Im 11 EE. Redwing scanned my feet and it said Im 12 1/8 D left foot and 11 7/8 E right foot. I'm flat footed and have a high instep. The whites mp in 11.5 D is .5 too long and my right foot wouldnt make it in. Left barely and it was snug. You should get an E for a true D and EE if your brannock is bordering on D-E area or an E. If your brannock is EE or bigger dont get an MP you have no chance.
At 18:28 did you mean to say "7.5 in a E or EE width" instead of "7 in a E or EE width" as that would be one full size down from 8.5D, Teik? @Bootlosophy Just curious as I'm planning to get an MP myself
Thanks so much for all of your very informative content! Because of your videos I purchased two pairs of the White's MP last Shermans (natural and British tan). I must have watched this specific video at least half a dozen times and decided that my next pair will be in the black chromexcel like yours 😅. My question for you: if I want a slightly more dressier silhouette with a wider toe box (like the GS Diesel) do you think going with the 55 last in the same size would do the trick or sizing down in the MP last and going one width up would be best?

Does anyone have an opinion on which PNW boot company has the most accurate and reliable fitting method? To explain, I have relatively short, wide feet with a narrow heel. Duck feet as I like to say. I ordered a pair of boots from JK and they are too large. I feel like a kid wearing my dad's boots. I was concerned about JK's sizing method from the start. I expected the boots to be sloppy, and they are. I'm still deciding on whether or not to try an exchange, or just get a refund. These are my first pair of PNW boots. Do any of the companies utilize more measurements, other then length and width to find your correct size? Are any of the companies a true "custom" boot maker?
If there is a danner store, they can measure your feet for a custom measure Whites boot. They also have a fit sheet you can do at home I've worn whites and nicks and the nicks was WAY different at the same size.

We are not in North America. You would do well to learn the cultural protocols of other First Nations. Educate yourself by googling “Acknowledgment of Country in Australia” and the website Reconciliation Australia.

You should try these in their black wp leather! The leather has a matte look to it which makes them look super rugged

My personal opinion is to go 9E assuming you take your 9.5D as a half down from your Brannock of 10D

No, I changed laces over and got them turned around. Fixed it after the shot

My feeling is go for the 55 last, but for dressier, it may be time for a Viberg 😁

A pain! Frankly I just make them as flat as possible and tie the laces.

Try contacting Bakers Boots who represent a few PNW boots and will do a custom fit
