    We've spent several months testing out this Specialized e-bike. The Specialized Turbo Levo Expert has been one of our favorite eMTBs of all time. It's fun, lively and playful, BUT it isn't perfect!

    For an incredible, full-featured readout as well as comprehensive motor parameter setups, use the BLEvo app with your smartphone mounted on the handlebars with a RAM mount. It makes the perfect interface for all Turbo Levo bikes. Simply purchase a low-cost smartphone if you don't wish to use your expensive primary phone. You can buy a Galaxy S8 for around $160 on eBay which works perfectly with BLEvo. For all-day use and protection, simply add a battery pack case. This setup is worlds better than any factory display for any e-bike.

    Hey guys, did you feel the suspension curve was pretty linear and set up was easy and done at 30% sag as recommended or did you feel it was pretty progressive? I weigh 220lbs and have the pike set up at 125psi/30% sag and the rear shock at 265psi/30% sag and feel it provides enough support and compliance.
    Keep up the great content fellas and look forward to hearing back. Cheers!

      Hey Steve, Funny you bring that up we have been dealing with the same issues. Stubbed toes primarily! We just saw Shimano released "EBIKE" specific shoes, but haven't yet tried them. We've been enjoying our Ride Concepts shoes as they've got a pretty stiff toe, which we find important! We're constantly pedaling through rocky terrain we didn't used to and are slamming toes into rocks. We need to get 160mm cranks and stiffer toe boxes in shoes! haha.

    Thank heaps!

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey Chris, thank you very much for watching. In stock settings with both bikes out of the box with comparable level builds, we'd have a hard time picking. The Norco may SLIGHTLY edge out the Levo in a couple areas of ride feel and performance, suspension primarily and rides a bit lighter. However, the Specialized has a removable battery, better range, quieter motor and is a ton of fun in the 29er platform. In short, you won't be bummed with either but the factors above could help make your decision...

    I know it may not be as competitive, but I am really wishing someone would review Haro's I/O 9. It's more affordable, which makes me curious what is sacrificed. It's a hard market for the average guy that is ready to buy but doesnt have the ability to test. I ride a 2017 Haro Shift plus and a love it. But, if you're looking to make a decision before that, keep searching around. There are great options and not so great options. Overall we've been very impressed with Norco, Devinci(2020 only), Kona, Specialized and the Pivot and YT and Giant are pretty good too, and Trek has some great attributes for certain riders, but you should watch/read our review on that one for better info.

  • @EnergyNewsToday

    I have a 2019 Turbo Levo Expert and the motor rocks. Why because it’s the Brose S Mag and it has 90nM of torque and customizable. I personally think you should chuck the stock tires because the stock rims are only 30mm and the stock tires are very soft and flexy and too squishy. I changed mine to Maxxis Assegai and Aggressor rear both in 2.5 and it is a much faster and more lively in my opinion and changed the whole bike for the better.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Před 4 lety

      Solid input Thomas. Despite our initial impressions and preconceived notions, we always do our best to test bikes in the OE specification to review them as they might 1) change our minds. 2) give us a better feeling as to what a consumer will experience when they make a purchase off the showroom floor. After that we'll begin experimenting.

      Yes, that is the big-con job of the mtb industry. I bought a new Yamaha YZ250fx for less. It really makes no sense to me. Someone on here will no doubt tell me the reasons why...carbon, light parts, top end materials, engineering, state of the art, blah blah.....yes I know. The exact same reasoning can be said of the motorcycle I mentioned. So, in summary, it makes no sense. I can only say....massive profit margins in the business model.
