Something I really like about Sam is that unlike most final girls, she isn’t a “good” or “innocent” one. She’s brutal and aggressive. She def has capability of being a killer/evil but she uses her killer instincts for good and to protect herself and others
Sidney was the same dude, she wasn't hesitant to kill the killers

i disagree. Just because shes aggressive about her self defense doesn't make her less innocent than Sid. I don't buy the whole stabbing 37 times = bad. In the scream universe, I think the writers is oging in that direction and you're right in a sense. But to me, its her equivalent of shooting them in the head. I see it as her just making sure these freaks are dead.

Its wild to me because in mexican soap operas she was so under used and they made her act as the same bland character basically, then I wouldn't have thought she was a good actress, until this, seeing this acting from her was soooo satisfying and interesting, you never know what people got until they're at the right position

@@vlalelrlila Her work in everything else in the last 6 years or so has been great. I think in Scream 5 the bigger problem was the writing, 1. And 2, everyone was still comparing her to the original cast. We saw a big glimpse of THIS Sam in the climax & even the hospital scenes. But going after Richie at the end was what solidified her for me as the new lead. Scream 5 was an excellent passing of the torch to the new cast, Scream 6 was world building for them. Even though we know Neve refused to return because of pay, I’m honestly glad she wasn’t in it and that they gave her an offscreen happy ending. It both makes sense (because why would she come to NY), and Sam/Tara’s story is a great way for them to keep it fresh.

So many people call Samantha boring or emotionless but in both SCREAM and SCREAMVI, Melissa shows such unbridled energy when stabbing. In SCREAM she nailed Billy’s wild posture and Stu’s knife wipe. In this one she comes full circle, imitating both him AND Sid, killing in costume.
How is that? Billy killed Casey, Himbry and Tatum. None of them died with frenzied knife stabs. Billy stabbed slow and let them see their own blood.
Stu was the faster frenzied killer.

You took my statement out of context. Wild POSTURE, not frenzied knife stab. When Billy cornered Sid on the floor, him and Samantha both had same postures. Just as Billy choked Sid, Samantha slit Richie's throat. Both went for the neck. Both raised the knife the same way.
She grew on me with this movie. In Scream 5, her existence felt rather contrived and not as interesting as the film thought it was. Here though, they took her relation to Billy and made it into something really compelling.
Sam literally is Billy but she using his kill style for the good which I believe is very interesting.

This is also what Sidney in Scream 1 did. She also wore a ghostface mask, jumped out of her hiding spot and finally ambushed the killer with a weapon until he was down.
But Samantha is the first one to kill one of the killers using it, which Sidney didn't do

Melissa silenced a bunch of critics about her acting with this movie. Nobody is topping Sidney in this franchise, but Melissa definitely showed someone else can be the main character.

One of the best scenes in the movie 💀 Sam stabbing Bailey multiple times, was crazy. More stabs than Richie got before he killed 😮 Daaaamn
It was crazy and jaw dropping but it is also for the fact that Bailey could've been wearing a bulletproof vest so she has to get through it with the stabs

To give Sam some credit, considering Bailey and his family NEARLY killed Gale, killed several innocents, and overall trying to frame _her_ for everything because they couldn't process through their skulls that Richie was a POS, I don't blame her for essentially becoming Ghostface this one time.
@AtrocityEquine Well, Quinn put Gale in a comatose state. She stabbed Mindy on the train wearing a fresh GhostFace mask and not a broken down one. I find it weird in that scene. It's confusing considering why Quinn wears a fresh mask if the point was to wear the older looking GhostFace mask. I understand she needed camouflage in this scene, but still, that scene where Mindy gets stabbed by GhostFace on the subway train seemed kind of weird. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know it was Quinn Bailey, but still hello New York for Christ's sake there are millions of people that live in New York that could've possibly done this to Mindy. I mean, why the fresh GhostFace mask instead of a legacy GhostFace mask.

I love this scene not because of the gnarly death scene of a killer, but the fact Sam uses the killer blood within her to do what she can to protect the ones she love.
Just because her father was a killer, doesnt mean she's gonna follow in his footsteps and become a killer herself. As she said it herself, she's better than that.
However just incase you need to, use that killer blood for good, to protect yourself and your loved ones from the true psychos. We all have a dark side we need to face head on in order to move on.

All I'm saying is that Sam uses the psychopathic killer blood within her to kill the true psychos that try to kill her, her sister and her friends. She also came to terms that her father is a killer, but that doesn't mean that she's gonna follow in Billy's footsteps like Wayne's been trying to make her do.

Honestly, they were the next best thing.. they could’ve carried the rest of this franchise, but of course.. we just can’t seem to ever have nice things. I don’t think I’ll be interested in the franchise going forward even if they brought back Neve to play Sidney again.
I think Spyglass should just hold off on Scream 7 for a few years (3-5 years) until everything is resolved. They rehire Melissa, Jenna is available, Neve returns with a sizable role and check, and we get a nice conclusion for this storyline.
@mtd1089 There never going to do that though unfortunately. They blacklisted Melissa and Jenna quit because of that and I don't think these 2 will simply forgive the studio for that. I know I wouldn't.

They could do more with the characters, but the way 6 ended was a nice send-off in a way for Sam. She leaves her past behind and whatnot. This could kind of be a blessing in disguise if they don't want to recast the Carpenters-get some new people to follow, ditch Ghostface and go in a new direction with the franchise.

This was a perfect scene. She allows herself to become what she was always afraid of becoming and avenges everyone who was hurt or killed. She was a perfect fit for being a Ghostface and she was able to snap out of it with her sister's help. I do however think she should have kept the costume and knife. Nothing like chasing down the next murderer with that outfit.

This is one of my favorite finale scenes from any scream movie since the first one where Sydney wore the Ghostface outfit to attack Billy. Sam is so brutal with her kills and is definitely one of my favorite characters now after this whole scene. Melissa killed it and has definitely got better since Scream V

What a fantastic movie. It's genuinely shocking how good Scream has managed to be throughout the years. 6 movies in and they're still dropping bangers, unlike some other franchises, like Friday the 13th and Halloween, which only had a few good films each.

As much as I like the idea, Ghostface as just evil is more inclined to its character, there's an appeal to it that it just fits right for it to be a villain.
I like how the new Scream movies are taking stuff from the old Screan movies Wes Craven did, the killer being the boyfriend, his relative becomes the new killer, Sam calls Bailey like what Sidney did with Billy, just… *perfect*

It was so cool seeing Sam become Ghostface in this. Gives Bailey exactly what he wants but takes full control of who she is and not what he wants her to be.

When I saw this scene in theaters I literally got chills.
I think this scene also supports Bailey being the bodega ghostface because look how good he is with a gun. It would make sense for him to be great with a shotgun as well.
He was the one wearing the very old mask...Quinn had the other old mask...Bailey was the attacker in the bodega, Quinn attacked Gale (still not sure how she easily threw Gale's muscular boyfriend through that glass so easily though)...not sure who Ethan killed though...Every kill and attack seemed to come from Bailey or Quinn...the only one I can think of is the ladder scene, but it was mentioned that his alibi checked out and that he was in a class.

@@MadSkillz76 You’re mistaken I’m talking about the apartment scene where Quinn was seemingly killed by Ghostface while talking to her dad detective Bailey on the phone when in reality she wasn’t actually killed, that Ghostface was Ethan, it was confirmed to be him the alibi was fake, Ethan lied to Chad the next day by telling him that he was at E Con but in reality he was the Ghostface that attacked them the previous night in the apartment, he killed Anika and Quinn's hookup. Apparently it was also confirmed that Jack Champion the actor who played Ethan in the movie was also under the costume in the apartment scene.

I feel like Billy really came out in Sam in this scene but no matter what happens in her life, sam will never kill someone to kill unlike Billy did. Sam only kills to protect the people she loves.

What's more terrifying is that she could have killed him if she wanted while he was unconscious. In other words, he never had a chance, but killing him while wearing the Ghostface suit from her father is a more satisfying kill.

This was hands down of the best kills of the franchise top 10. This movie actually delivered on the gore with 3 standout kills that I know got reactions out of ppl Greg (decapitated body), Anika (Gutted then bashed in face) and Bailey (30 stabs and then stab to the eye) I would’ve put Gale’s bf cause in a bts pic his throat was cut open but you don’t see that in the movie cause of the way the body is positioned. Like it was fine enough with the stabs like nothing new for this franchise but the moment anyone in a horror movie gets stabbed in the eye it’s an S tier kill for me so brutal and gory. I remember being in that theater and going AHHHH when the knife went in his eye cause I didn’t suspect that🤣.

Ethan's death was pretty brutal. Stabbed in the freaking mouth, then crushed by a TV. Although, Anika's was the one I cringed at the most, it was brutal as hell and I'm pretty sure it was Ethan's kill from what I've gathered.

melissa's acting is awesome. Her accent is brilliant. I really thought she was american. She and Sydney make a good team.
This is one of my favorite parts of scream 6 because of the way Sam saves everyone and get the best of ghost face too

Edit: now if you were to add Billy into the mix, aiding in making the decisions she choose conflicting and getting a better backstory of the Loomis history through dialogue, I would honestly pay top dollar for that lol Billy is truly an underutilized character and even as a fan of the Sidney era, Sam and Billy’s relationship truly works on its own in a way
This was a nice Easter egg to the original movie where Sidney hides from Billy and stabs him with an umbrella while wearing the costume.

Sam is not typical final girl or scream queen in franchise like this. She is the star with killer attitude. At 2:38 eventhough she didn't show her smirk explicitly but we, as viewer, knew her expression was the smirk she inherited from Mrs. Loomis (her grandmother, Billy's mom). Added with Tara's expression towards her which talked "Really? After all that happened you're gonna set him free?" which showed their sisterly bond which IMO was so cute and sweet gestures before Sam proceed to kill Richie's Dad. This Ghostface is the one kind that we are so lucky to have her on our side. At least she used her controlled insanity to do the sane thing: to protect her family. I ❤ the addition of new blood into this franchise and if Scream 7 is made I hope that requel can close the franchise before people are boring and running out of gas (just did it like John Wick 4 so people will remember this franchise with great memories) like we feel right now with MCU and DCEU.

Difference between sam and her father is the switch to be able to turn it on and off a lot of people once the switch is switched on there’s no going back and the fact she does it to protect her sister and her friends and after it’s all said and done she is able to put it behind her and stay on the path of good

Sam is already seen as Ghostface by almost everyone in the franchise now. I wonder if she'll do what Corey did in Halloween Ends and give in to her evil spirit. If she becomes Ghostface in any future Scream film, she will be the second best Ghostface in the franchise. Her father Billy was number one!

@Life Of A Survivor Think about it? If Sam was doing the phone call, then Bailey would've heard her then be like oh I know where you are now so that I can shoot you in the head." Basically Tara did the phone call while Sam did the grunt work kinda like a Nancy Loomis and Mickey Altieri thing in which Mickey does the heavy stuff while Nancy does the scheming kinda like Jill Roberts and Charlie Walker.

I just gotta give props to Melissa for her job in Scream 6. In Scream 5 I wasn’t into her acting. Some things she said came off as cheesy or whenever she learned Tara was attacked at the beginning her reaction didn’t seem believable. It was clear that Jenna Ortega was the better actress in that movie. But WOW she absolutely killed it in Scream 6 from opening tip. Hands down not only the best acting performance but the best character for me
