The fact that Quinn and her lover are both the 8th kills in the kill graphic to show that her death was fake is such a fun detail that makes this channel great.

Dang, I didn't notice that. And I had a whole explanation planned out for why Quinn's fake death should count (basically, that Bailey killed someone matching Quinn's description offscreen).
Also, James kept implying that Richie was Wayne's son and Quinn's brother at 10:45 and 18:34.
@@justaghostintheseawell i dont think there was any hints. Her lover was also killed offscreen to make us believe her offscreen kill wasn't suspicious. So if her "fake death" was the only offscreen kill then it would make it obvious something was up. Also greg was the first OS kill in this movie so it makes sense why they did it again
It’s pretty remarkable that scream has now had 6 films. And not a single one can be deemed terrible. By horror standards, the quality of this franchise is insane.
And the 7th coming out next year too.

To be fair, the kill graphic for Quinn is still somewhat valid because the dad cop said he switched her body with a fresh one, so someone did die in Quinns place so I find it alright
Honestly, it's so awe-inspiring we've gotten to a point where James has to preface these with "I can't be objective because this movie was made by my friends and I'm in the credits." So very proud of you two, and the team.

I love the fact that they gave a nod to Stu being alive, as much as it is a stretch, i would love to see more of Matthew Lillard chewing scenery
Stu being alive is about as much of a stretch as homeboy surviving a total of what 16-17 stabs when 12 were in the chest and stomach 😂 scream isn’t about being realistic. Like the killer is 6’2 250 pound in the suit then we find out a 5’2 110 pound person is the killer😂 when they did the ‘double wipe’ both killers are the same height and size then 10 seconds later when they are standing on each side of their dad their is a 5-6 inch height difference between them 😂
I mean its not really a stretch, the original Scream 3 plot was Stu getting teenagers to become Ghostface from prison but had to be changed because of a school shooting. Yeah we might never seen him but considering the original writers and director planned for him to survive it pretty much means he's alive.

The fact is, Craven didn't went through with the idea because as you just said, school shooting and also because his work is taken after he passed away and the idea to this day is scrapped. A fakeout kill of a main character is a disgrace to the Scream franchise tbh. Scream V and VI both had main characters who had plot armor so thick that you could push them off the Empire State building and they would walk it off.

I've rewatched this killcount so many times. The cold open twist seeing the killer immediately is also so fascinating.
In case anyone's confused about what James mentioned in the latter half of the video with the 'Slenderman killings', the stabbings were an attempted murder by two pre-teenaged girls (both twelve-years old at the time), Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, on their friend Payton Leutner. They lured her into the forest under the guise of playing hide and seek before stabbing her 19 times. In fact, many hit her torso, and one had just missed a major artery of her heart, and she still managed to crawl just enough to find a cyclist. The two girls claimed to have done it to appease Slenderman, genuinely believing that Slenderman was real and that he would come after them next if they didn't offer a sacrifice. This happened in the state of Wisconsin in May 2014.
Neve Campbell is the heart and soul of the franchise, she deserved to receive more money for all the hard work she's done over the years on it!

While I agree, I also hope Sydny doesnt return anymore only because I want her to have her happy ending. If she comes back, theres always a chance they will kill her off for good and I dont want that for her character. It would also be messed up to kill her off screen and the fans would be pissed so I hope the team knows that and doesnt try to pull that stunt either.

I swear, this franchise is one of the only horror series that is never bad. All movies, even when they are weak in the franchise are still good horror movies. The track record is amazing even after Wes Craven not being involved anymore. I honestly cant wait for Scream 7 next year. As long as theyre this good i dont mind a new Scream every year.

2 has terrible villains and final set piece, 3 jumps the shark a bit, 5 is entirely uninspired and stale, and 6 is just awful all around.

When Kirby threw the TV at Ethan’s head at the end, I think she referenced that to Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. She mentioned she loved that one bc she had a crush on Corey Feldman and after she took out Ethan she said, “I saw that in a scary movie once.”

I love how a few of these stories and the shoutout he and Chelsea got in the credits of this movie show that James himself has become a pillar of the Horror genre.

Yeah especially with Anika’s death. Her screams about not wanting to die coupled with the way her head hit the dumpster made the scene absolutely brutal

Gale wasn't alone when she was attacked if her boyfriend was with her, so she didn't break horror movie rule by being by herself with a killer on the loose. It was just a shame that not being alone didn't save her boyfriend and almost led to her own death

Anika’s death always struck me as particularly cruel, and i say this a diehard Scream fan, the “baby i dont wanna die” hit me like a ton of bricks, and I honestly don’t get effected by slasher deaths but this got me. She deserved better, and Mindy getting over it so closely made it all just weird.

Makes you wonder how they will do part 7 since the two leads are gone.
It would have been a much stronger choice in Mindy's monologue about the rules to a horror franchise, if she'd said that main characters are virtually safe, because they need the franchise to continue. It would have also added to the "Core 4" theme. Then when the Core 4 characters start getting brutally stabbed we would have been extra surprised. And then when they end up surviving, it would have become a clever callback. At least then the ridiculous survival-after-being-brutally-stabbed phenomenon would have at least been acknowledged somehow. Still ridiculous though, especially Chad after his brutal double stabbing.
OMG hearing the dad say “you mess with my family you die” is worth the rewatch by itself

Mindy saying Stuart could still be alive is a meta reference to on the internet, some people over the years would say Stewart is still alive despite him meeting his demise in the first film. Most likely, they have good reason for feeling this way, given the fact that the original plot of scream 3 was supposed to have him return from the first film to be Ghostface again, but the Columbine shootings in the real world made the script change.
I love how James tried to pull a sneaky with the kill graphic for Quinn. Having Quinn and the shower guy both listed as #8 was a fun way to balance out the numbers
Im gonna go out on a limb and say this was James' favorite scream film. Understandable in his situation, but he seems so happy with every line he delivers.

3: Completing trilogies and how they always go back to the beginning
4: Sequels to Trilogies and making a Franchise
5: Reboot-Sequels or Legacy Sequels
6: I’ll guess is Sequels to Legacy Sequels
And with Scream 7 announced, idk where that can go but I’d like to see it as “Sequels completing another trilogy but trying to mirror the originals”
The scene where Tara and Sam are hiding behind the shelves in the bodega looks like a reference to the kitchen scene in Jurassic Park. Amazing video James!

I love how Dead Meat has so much cameos in Scream 6. Also Scream 6 was one of my favorite Screams because this is the first one I saw in theaters.

i just _love_ how much radio silence loves this franchise and how beautifully it shines through in every single aspect of their two entries. all the easter eggs from costume design to props to production design to set dressing - it’s all _so_ well done and makes watching such a delight for fans.

Absolutely loved the brutal take on a Scream movie. Maybe not for everyone, but one of my all time favorites.
I guessed it was the dad/cop because he was on the phone with Quinn when she got murdered, but still acted surprised as if he didn't hear her screaming and begging for help. So I was like, oh it's him. She's prob still alive too. Didn't see Ethan coming, I thought it was too obvious to make it be him.
I loved how superhuman Ghostface seemed. Also loved that he didn't care what he killed them with including a gun. Idk this scream was just so brutal also it's refreshing seeing the Core 4 survive. Tara did annoy me a bit acting as if she can go back to a normal life when she literally know Gail & even Sydney (even though she not in this movie) been going through it for decades at this point.

Tara is definitely immature but I like how she was portrayed. She clearly can't handle what happened to her and she wants to pretend it didn't happen. I know that feeling too well...
I get it however it's just interesting in The Scream/ Stab universe to completely try to forget it ever happened knowing the history of everything.@@Wifgargfhaurh

In regards to Gail not dying in this movie, I bet it’s likely at the start of Scream 7 (After the pre-titles kill), it’s revealed that Gail has succumbed to her injuries and died in Hospital. (After all, Dewey was killed in a Hospital)
If that’s the case, and since Dewey died in Scream 5, and if Scream 7 is set to be the last one, and if Radio Silence apologises for not giving Neve Campbell a fair pay; it’s likely that in Scream 7, we are going to have to prepare for the worst and say our final goodbyes to Sidney Prescott.
..... You made so many weird assumptions here. First of all, where the hell was it said 7 is the last? Second of all Radio Silence is not the one that fucked over Neve, they have no control over pay, that was Paramount. Producers and directors don't control pay rates, studios do... As evidence by the strike right now.
I said goodbye to Sidney. Three times already. Her story is over. Radio Silence has nothing to apologise for as they don't control the money and didn't make the decision. They wanted her to come back. Finally, Radio Silence aren't directing the next one, the dude who directed Happy Death Day is.
I think this movie did a lot of things new and did them pretty well. My main complaint is the killer reveal. I think having 3 killers is really nice but the people they chose werent even in the movie that long. When i first watched it i had to be like "oh yea... That person we saw twice". I like the idea of someone so obsessed they would have a bunch of souvenirs but thats not even really the case, they were mostly mad bc of the bf guy dying in the previous movie.
It's a shame bc they did a lot of things that on first watch you enjoy and its new but still realistic until you get to the reveal.
I'm so glad Hayden Panettiere is back in Scream series. And also being back in the acting industry since her 2018 hiatus when Nashville ended.
After Re-watching all of the kill counts recently, I am amazed on how this evolved from a simple web series to a fully fledged TV show formatted series! This is a great example, thanks James for another amazing episode!

Sydney’s character ending up happily married to Mark (portrayed by Patrick Dempsey in Scream 3) is wild when I think about it as a fan of Grey’s Anatomy since Neve Campbell portrayed the role of his sister in a few episodes on the show, years after they filmed Scream 3. 😂
The Kill Counts scripts only get better I swear. I love the jokes and references my favorite being "BAM! bitch went down" I love that callback to an earlier joke from the previous Kill Counts!
Also wanted to say I love the transparency from both Chelsea and James to say hey we have a bias to this movie cause they're being thanked and are so close with the makers of the film. I don't know anyone else who would own up to that but also I think anyone else would also have bias if they were even the slightest involved. Overall to me great film and just aahhh I LOVE DEAD MEAT!
I really do love how nuts Sam goes when she stabs someone. Feels like you don't see that enough from the heroes in horror movies.
