You had me at âjust because itâs smut doesnât mean it canât be art.â đ Sounds pretty fantastic, thank you!
That score though!
I loved it. So funny and brutal, but dirty and intelligent too. The music reminded me of Last Night in Soho in the way it compliments the film and time. But Chelsea Wolfe is one of my favourite artists, The cinematography is great, it looks so good.
Firestarter looks good. I quite like the original and love the novel so I want to see it.
This movie is good to watch at the movie theater with a crowd of people. Hearing everybody's reaction to certain scenes is just great, highly recommend.
Iâm so sad I missed when this came out- this wouldâve been a great packed theater experience
My crowded theatre was insane!!! Cherished the experience and reactions to the twisty and shocking ride! Loved it a lot! Glad to see that you like it as well đđ
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
I'm so glad you mentioned those rhythmic transitions that cut back and forth between scenes. I thought this movie was expertly made from top to bottom but those transitions especially impressed me. It brought already tense moments to entirely new levels. I don't remember seeing anything like that before.
Congrats on 100K!
I absolutely and completely loved "X"! I left the theater wanting to turn around and watch it again immediately.
(And I hope you're able to see the post credits scene soon - it's a lot of fun!)
I wish I could have seen it again! But itâs not out properly until next week here
There was a post credits scene???
@@nicolegraviett4882 Yes! After alllllll the end credits!
The first kill traumatized me, omg! Brutal and slow pacing, yet beautiful? Like you said, itâs layered! Loved it!
Prior to *_'Hereditary'_* , I remember *_'The House of The Devil'_* being the first 21st century Horror genre film to come across to me (personally) as a return to the feel of 20th century Horror genre classics.
Years ago, I met _Tom Noonan_ here in NYC. He is in _'The House of..'_ , but our brief convo was focused on his appearance in the Michael Mann classic *_'Heat'_* _(Dinero, Pacino, Kilmer, Trejo, Sizemoore, etc.)._
Just got back from seeing it in the theater. I definitely want to see it a second time.
Everytime I pick a movie to watch with my husband, he says they're weird. So of course I have this one on my record now. He's probably not going to see anymore that I pick đ
Yeah I donât watch horror with my partner heâs just not into that kind of film.
Omg filmed in New Zealand with Martin Henderson, he was in The Ring and Brittany Spears's Toxic music video đ€Ł
I was already psyched for this one...A24, Ti West and Mia Goth; how could you go wrong?..but the raves this is getting from everyone, especially for the characters, who aren't usually very highly praised in horror, has me seriously stoked for this film.
I hope you love it!
Congratulations on 100K!!! I was already looking forward to X, after your review I am even more pumped!!
Absolutely beaming, seeing your reaction. Canât wait to see this movie now. Congratulations on hitting 100kâŠ.
Congrats on 100k!! Soooo well deserved your channel is such a gem
Thank you!
AHHHHHH! Your review has me sooo exxxcited to see it! I love how excitable you are talking about it. I appreciate the No Spoiler review! Going this upcoming week with a group of friends! Can't wait! Also congrats on 100k !!!đ
I love that Iâm uncertain how you feel about it at first with your nonverbal reaction and then you freaking love it!! â€ïžâ€ïž Also, congrats on 100K! đ
100K subs well done and thanks for the years of content!!! spooky to the moon
Yay congrats on 100K!! Also I just wanna say that I really enjoy your "come with me" format; it gives a fun, unique twist to your reviews.
Congrats on 100k now let's get to 1million guys! Emma deserves itđ„°
âI loved it. I absolutely loved this filmâ loved your energy. Movie was soooooooo good.
Also congratulations on 100k
Congrats on the 100k!
I have such a goofy smile on my face over your enjoyment of this film. I NEEEEED to see it!!
Hope you like it as much as me!
Congratulations on hitting 100k. Super excited to see this film tonight.
A horror film that truly is the word...horror. A movie that pays homage to 70s cinema, takes the tropes of such movies as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and elevates it to a story that leaves you with a lot of intensity, makes you think "I shouldn't be watching this"- and it also gives a lot to think about. The best horror makes you think of real life. The best horror isn't about body count or blood, it's about the story and characters. "X" tapped into one of my deepest fears-and that fear is something tangible and real. I can't reveal it. It would be a disservice to the brilliant screenplay.
This film got under my skin, made me squirm, and had a sort of sad and tragic sprinkling. The way the film talks about its 'deeper meaning' is totally 'show don't tell'...best way to do it. I'll be thinking about certain elements for a long time while also being on edge.
It also poked fun at screenplays and poked fun at 'the lack of plot' in some movies. Some really, really nice dialogue.
The editing of the film was incredible. Really felt like I was watching something from the 70s and shot on film. The camera work and the way the director lingers on uncomfortable scenes-so effective. From the cinematography to the 'splicing' of scenes. The gore was intense, but don't let that stop you. It's not just 'gore' for the sake of it really. The violence isn't over the top-it's brutal and realistic.
What makes this is the themes and the characters. That's why you should see this. A perfect 5-star film.
Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers Emma. I discovered your channel about a year ago and I love your content. Keep up the good work.
Congrats on 100k. Always looking forward to your reviews !
Thank you
I hadn't even thought much about this movie, but you reviewed definitely makes me want to go see it. Thank you. And congratulations on 100,000. I'd love to see my favorite CZcamsrs grow.
Thank you so much jasper!
Congrats on hitting 100k I can't think of someone who deserves it more đ€©
Congrats on 100k, you always produce the best content. Here's onto 1 Million đ„ł
Hey Emma,
Just wanted to take the time to wish you Congratulations...Well deserved!! Although we have disagreed on certain Horror topics in the past, I have always enjoyed your work and I have a healthy respect for you!! Keep up the Great work, and I'll keep watching!!
Omg! I am so excited you did this review! When I left the theater last night, all I could think is "when is Emma gonna post a video on this?"
I am going back tonight to watch it again because I loved it so much.
That film score was everything đ
I did as soon as I could! I wish it was out properly here so I could watch it again!
@@spookyastronauts yeah you actually did it faster than I expected bc I checked the release date for Australia and was sad for you lol
Iâve been anticipating this since they announced Ti West was making a new horror movie. Then I got even more excited with each new announcement. Slasher set in the 70s, I was sold. Then the cast, I love each person on the cast. I just saw literally 5 minutes ago, itâs my favorite movie of the year so far.
I am an hour away from seeing this. You couldn't have timed this video better!! đđđ€đŒ
Jenna Ortega was amazing in this! New scream queen for our generation :D
Looking forwards to seeing X soon. Also 100k whoop whoop!!
That 100k beside your username is soo satisfying. Also I LOVED X! Probably one of the best movie going experiences I've had. Such a fun ride.
So glad you loved it!
I absolutely loved this film. Saw it yesterday and havenât stopped thinking about it. I was very excited to see you felt the same way. Love the channel, thanks for creating such an awesome offshoot and extension of the horror community :)
I agree! This was a great movie and fun time. Also congratulations on 100K, Stay spooky Emma!
emma congrats from chicago on 100k keep it up
I'm glad to hear you loved this too. I was genuinely surprised by parts of it, especially towards the end
100K YAY QUEEN
Congratulations on 100k
Congrats on 100Kđ„łđ€© Just saw this film last night and holy shitđł itâs like The Visit on steroids. Iâve been thinking about it all day today, and also going to see it again tonight lol. Sadly during our screening the lights came on right before the âBrittany Snow on the dockâ and I ran as fast as I could to ask them to turn them offđ Definitely my fave movie of the year so far! Also the end credit scene/trailer was INSANE.
AhhhhâŠno spoilers please!
@@oneANGRYelf there isnât any spoilers in this, donât worry!
Thanks for the review, Emma and a big congratulations for reaching 100K subscribers! đ My jaw dropped when you gave the film your scores. It's been a long time since I remember you giving any new film that high a score. I will definitely check it out as soon as I can. Ti West has been a pretty hit-or-miss director with me, but the trailer for X definitely caught my attention and I am glad to hear how good it was.
On a related note, it looks like we will be getting our first PG-rated Rob Zombie film this year with "The Munsters". I'm not surprised that Rob Zombie is doing a real tribute film, since he has been a lifelong fan of the TV series. So, Ti West picked the perfect time to release a "70's style hardcore horror slasher" without competing with a Zombie film.
Congrats on the 100K!
Damn thats a huge scoređđ now I'm even more excited to watch it
Emma AKA the Queen of 7's. đ
đ
Congratulations on 100K subscribers.
Canât wait to watch this tomorrow!
Iâd be so interested to see a video on your top 9 or 10/10 scare rated horror films!
Someone else said this! I think Iâd be crucified for my taste haha ⊠cough⊠paranormal activity đđđ
I'm really looking forward to seeing this one! Do you lock your car door when you give us your thoughts after? Lol. Asking as the mom of adult children.
Haha yes they do automatically
Congrats on 100k!! I'm seeing it tonight and this has me amped!! đœđȘ
Iâm so pumped to see this.
Love your review!
Thanks Riley!
this was SO GOOD. i watched it last night and canât stop thinking about it. I feel like everything i watch these days sucks so iâm so glad thereâs still good stuff coming out. OBSESSED
Congratulations on 100K! I saw X 2 days ago. I really enjoyed it. It was sssoooo creepy, very uncomfortable moments that really work well. Another great A24 film. Not as "out there" as some other A24 horror movies ,I think general movie goers will be able to enjoy this also
Congrats on 100k! đ„ł It's bc you got that X-factor đ€Łđ€
đđđđȘ
'Just because it's smutt, doesn't mean it can't be art' Emma's version of ' it's call hentai and it's art' qoute by Stanley from the office
I hope to watch this on Monday. Congrats on 100,000 subscribers
X was definitely worth the hype! Mia Goth was incredible in it, as was the rest of the cast. If you had told me 5 years ago that Kid Cudi would play a pornstar and a marine in a movie and be convincing at both, I would've looked at you crazy lol. But here we are. Can't wait to see Pearl!
I was excited before for this and after your video Im HYPED for this movie !!!
im going to see X today! Thank you Emma! IM SOOO EXCITED!
I'll def be looking for this on VOD once it's released. Sounds right up my twisted little alley!
Hope you love it!
Your enthusiasm makes me want to watch this movie right NOW. Can't wait to see it
Excellent review, Emma, Exquisite!... Although... I don't know if it will only happen to me. But every time I see you in the car, so calm and confident and telling us what you think of the premiere... I get tense, as I listen to you, thinking that at any moment... A zombie or a murderous psycho will appear. in your right window. Sorry Emma, I'm very easy to scare.
Great review just watched in liverpool it was set in texas but was filmed in new Zealand
So excited for this movie and my new scream queen jenna Ortega
5 hours later and I'm still speechless. Man this was a masterpiece . So many things I loved. I give this a 5/5. I can't think of anything that would take the score down. EPIC ride!!!!
I can think of 1 thing. But not a big one.
X has been my favorite theater experience of 2022 so far, nothing special happened in the theater but the movie was just so fun to see on the big screen. Definitely can't wait to rewatch it!
my best horror of the year...cant wait for prequel with Mia Goth!
Thank you as always Emma! Thank you for putting this into my radar! Sadly we don't get to watch these movies in Turkey because they don't get airing at the cinemas, I have to wait for the digital release :/
I left the following comment on another review video, but one size fits all. đ
Ti West beat Rob Zombie at his own game with this movie. From the cinematography to the sleaze and gore, but mainly with the authenticity of the characters. Mia Goth gives such a layered performance that I want to see this again for her alone. Of course, it's nice to see Jenna Ortega evolve her horror credentials with this after Scream and Studio 666.
Looking forward to Pearl.
Wait whatâs pearl?? Is that the book abojt the pig are they making a movie of it
I donât really think zombie and west are similar? Totally different styles to me. Especially in directing actors
Pearl is the follow-up to this movie.
And I agree Ti West and Rob Zombie are very different, and wouldn't normally compare them. But this film in particular has an aesthetic and plot that one could expect to find in one of Zombie's films, however West's direction goes beyond the sleazy call backs and dialogue to offer something more relatable and genuinely eerie.
Oooooo, I can't wait to see this one!.... Also, congratulations from Texas, on your CZcams 100k mark!.... You earned it.... :^)""""""""
I'm gonna have a double feature this weekend with this and The Batman
YES! You did it! 100k WAY TO GO!
Thank you!
This is one of my favourite movies of 2022 & so happy itâs an original movie(not a remake, reboot etc) went to watch it the day it was released in the U.K. on 18th March
I see you love this one just as much as I did Emma. Love the characters, the story, the nostalgia look of 70's horror, and of course, the kills. What I like so much about the film is the motivations of the killer, such was something different that what we normally seen in a horror film. Oh, loved the post-credit scene and I can't wait to see that one. Nuff said!
I am very excited for this one! I'm really hoping to see it this weekend!
Hope you love it
I love Gromit so much
Maybe it's because I grew up with the 70/80s school of slashers, but I've always liked the "smutty" aspect of horror. Back in the eighties, there was no better way to advertise these movies were for grown-ups than including some risky stuff. You can feed people into a meat-grinder and no-one bats an eye, but sex and nudity? Now THAT shows the movie really means business!
X and The Sadness are my top two most anticipated films for 2022.
Yes! I love Brittany Snow and her character had my mind blown cause it was so not Brittany Snow. This movie was so difficult for me to describe to other people I just said watch it.
Thanks for an awesome video Emma. I am so looking forward to this movie
Iâm about to go watch this in about an hour by myself, which I NEVER do! đ You have inspired me to be brave and start going alone since my husband has a weird schedule. Lol. Really looking forward to this because everyone is raving about it! đđ
I went in fairly blind on this i only think I've seen one or two trailers in passing.. Long story short I loved it but seeing Ti west name pop up as director made me smile since I'm probably in the minority who enjoyed both Cabin Fever 2 and the Exorcist TV show
Saw it last night and Iâm still thinking about it now. It was fucking brilliant.
I don't get what people see in this movie. There's nothing new happening here. One of the primary motivations of the action doesn't make sense (The "good" girl going bad) and then everything you could see coming from a mile away happens.
Long fan of Ti West, seeing X in an hour! Stoked!
In all honesty Ti West is my favorite current horror director. Imo he has total reverence for the genre and so willing to have fun with it. So glad he didnât disappoint. I canât wait!!!!
I cannot wait to see this Emma, looks right up my street⊠you know I love your come with me vids however next time can you do two videos one come with me and stay at home with grommet vid please đ
Cracking bud as always and congrats on the big 100k itâs taken way to long to get there đ
Probably go see this weekend, per your recommendation đ€
Congrats On The 100K. 200K Next. Saw The Movie, Expected Much More & It Was ONLY Fair In My Option
Emma I remember watch og Firestarter movie was so good along time
This movie came way closer to capturing the vibe and spirit of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre than that recent sequel.
ive been waiting for him to get back to his horror roots cuz hees one of my favourite directors in the genre
Canât wait! I feel like such a jerk for being a Blu-ray guy so I better get my butt to the theatre this weekend! đ thanks Emma happy 100k!!!!đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
Yes do it!!!â
Hi Emma, im a huge Twin Peaks fan and im super curious to see the rest of your poster behind you
Youâve got me so excited!
Hope you love it Morgan
It Xceeded your Xpectactions! Ok Iâll stop. Lmao
Emma takes control of my radar screen once again! Thanks.
Hey itâs interesting the score sounds somewhat like your intro. Loved this movie. It was Xcellent.
Mia Goth is such a versatile actress. She can do horror, drama, period, etc.
I absolutely Loved the movie. Definitely want to go see it again. The music, sounds, camera shots. Actors. Everything was perfect.
Most fun at the movies in years. Absolute blast of a horror movie.
