@3:44, was that offside? The replay suggests Baggio was well onside! Maybe the officals thought that Schillaci got a touch, but he didn't. @5:31, what a stupendous shot from Schillaci, listen to that smack against the crossbar! This really was his world cup. Looks like it hammered down onto the goal line. Thanks for these great uploads.
Baggio was well onside. If you pause the action @3.49, the ball, in flight, can be seen on the right-hand-side of the screen. Baggio was approx half a yard on side. Italy was also robbed of Berti's goal (great header off a fantastic Baggio pass) in the third place game against England.
No it was not offside, neither was the 89 minute goal that was also ruled out. I am from Ireland but we were well beaten here, only one chance on target (Quinn, from a super cross by McGrath). 3-0 would not have flattered Italy. They should have won this world cup, leaving Roberto Baggio on the bench until extra time against Argentina has to be one of the most baffling decisions ever taken by a manager. Maybe he was not fully fit (not surprising given some of the tackling here).
Jesus Christ that was a penalty at 6:24 no offside! And yer man from Stans free was right on top of him when he hit it. I'd forgotten what a homer this ref really was!
Lol what a reach. Ireland only gets anywhere if luck is on their side, that was offside & this Italy team was superior, they only did enough to win, they could have thrashed Ireland
Looking back objectively, Bonnar was a pretty awful keeper really. If he spills a rocket then fair enough, but how he managed to get all the way over there leaving the goal wide open. He let in similar howlers against Netherlands that led us to get knocked out of 1994.
I take it you've never been a goalkeeper in your life? The ball got a slight deflection on the way to him, he had to readjust and that shifted his balance enough to the point where his weight shifted to the right and knocked his balance off. And the goal itself wasn't that simple if you watch other videos it shows other angles of the goal and the Italian player had a really odd angle to put the ball into the net so he did pretty well to score in the end.
v England, Stuttgart 88, v Denmark Copenhagen 1992, not to mention Genoa and he had his share of top performances for Celtic too. Yes he was no Shay Given and maybe even Gavin Bazunu will prove a better keeper too but at worse he was bang average not awful. Against his case however I would say that he often had bloody good defenders in front of him compared to Given and Bazunu today.

Schillaci's shot that hit the crossbar crossed the line + his goal in 90th min was also onside.

Ireland also had a wrong offside call but let’s not let facts get in the way of your fantasy or continental supremacy
Baggio and Schilacci goals were well onside too.
Cascarino is the only Irish surname the Italian commentator is truly comfortable pronouncing lol
Exactamente. Franco era un crack en su rol.
Even though we lost, a flukey schillachi goal was all that separated us
Bonner always spilled the ball instead of catching it
Super ltalien

Back in the days when Italy could field a team of Italians and leave out other Italians that would make the starting lineup of most other teams
And they still only beat us 1-0😂

Zenga best save
Against England, save was better
Yes that dive to the bottom post was brilliant against England@@paolosstories9481
Ireland were brutally outclassed in this match
6:28 an absurd impediment, arbitration full of errors
Cambiate lavoro

Forza ltalia 💪🇮🇹

Yes should of pushed it around the post, brutal
@@anthonyeastwood970 yet these days keepers push everything right back into play and no one says anything!

Awe no he was not. Yes sure he made a few mistakes but he was/is only human. He made some great saves too.

Imagine playing mcgrath in midfield, idiot stuff. Was exposed
Really? Quinn almost scored on the McGrath cross.
@@Pdmc-vu5gj he would not need to score if mcgrath in back 4
