14 years of age, growing up in proper Ireland. The time of my life. Cheers Jack and the lads.
@Tim Harney did He ask for your reply ?
What’s “proper Ireland” you knobhead
Only thing proper about Ireland now is it's a PROPER FUCKING SHIT HOLE LOOK AT EAST Wall FFS

Big Jack is a legend and he done a fantastic job with the Irish
That's not true!!
@@eoinreilly3925 stfu
Incredible stuff
What a summer
Remember it like yesterday
I will always remember this world cup. we may be great again sometime and actually win it. not in my time though. we just haven't world class players.. we are a very small country and show terrific heart.. have to say Jack Charlton was a legend and did us proud...
How did he do a great job?? You said we have no world class players but he certainly did if we had someone with something between their ears you could and should have had that moment if Ireland were ever going to win it that was our best chance something could be said for 2002 with the teams that remained if we beat Spain who we were better than on the day
But as a team or overall squad we'll never have genuine quality like that again
Rest in Peace Jack 💚
Good old times when three european teams could be in the same group without anyone compalining.
RIP Big Jack
"Cascarino against... this fellow."
I remember that day so well - glued to the tv all screaming our hearts 💕 out for the Irish - Ireland could be won it that year
We had a squad capable of winning the world cup....no doubt, even had the best player in the world in Paul Mcgrath.
Let's be realistic: A great team but hardly the top 5 in the world during that era.
Haha 😂
And don't forget, Paul was pissed!
Dunphy was entitled to his opinion and I have to say, I think he was correct in his conclusion to the game against Egypt. Ireland had excellent players in 1990.
Jack you are a legend RIP ❤⚘
Remember watching this penalty shoot out, I was outside my house on my bike going around in circles and sticking my nose in the door when the shoot outs started. Dad kept calling me in lol
Gary Lineker was gracious on Irish.
Class post. Some of it I forgot, some parts left major lump in throat. Great post
RIP big Jack
What a great time
The ref v Italy was a disgrace.
We must be the only team in history to get to the quarter finals of a world cup without winning a game in 90 minutes
Samuel Robinson Portugal?
paddy mcster that was euros
Haha yup yup typical Irish luck!?! And without Packie Bonnar we wouldn’t have gotten through to the quarterfinals!?! Oh the memories!?!
We underestimate our ability to win that World Cup. So close numerous times
Should have went out and actually played proper football, never know what might have happened..
the best manager ireland ever had.
rip big jack
Great days
Good times with freedoms we only look back on RIP big jack fellow Geordie loved the craic 🍀🍀🍀
Great memories
u had to hand it to Irish people like me we are great supports
Never forget it 💚🇮🇪
Simpilar times ...give a lash jack
A true Legend rip
Outstanding penalties, so confident
Eighth final. You don't hear that phrase anymore.
If Pirlo is considered a Deep-Playmaker, Pat Bonner in 1990 could be called VERY-DEEP-PLAYMAKER.
dunphy is as important to us as a fly on the windowsill lol;
Big jack 🇮🇪🇮🇪
gread game fore Ireland and lol had he sayed "the game in Stuttgart" :o
amazin vid
Hon Ireland!
figuratively yes
Scored 2 goals in 5 games.
To people in the comment section, you don't have to have been the greatest footballer ever to criticize. However, Eamon Dunphy does look ridiculous in this.
half a million fans line the streets, sure there was only three and a half mill in the whole country at the time.
Newspaper article quotes Charlton "It was the greatest moment of my life". Didn't he win the world cup with England in 1966?
Selinor578 Yes he won it in 66 but in fairness Ireland getting to a qaurter final in a World Cup is not far off winning a world cup for us !
Yea him and his brother bobby vwere so proud of the achievement of getting Ireland a country of 5mill to the finals and then to take it to the quaters was just like Iceland in the euros recently small island nation big heart and punching way above their weight...30 years ago and we've been back twice and both times 2nd round knockout to teams we should've beaten...but maybe someday well get back there but that was a golden era for the IRISH
Ireland will win someday GO ON THE BOYS IN GREEN
No, we won’t. But we will have the craic
I was 3
RIP Big Jack!?!
come on sean
So depressing tonight role on the Euros
andy Townsend calls England 'we' on itv
Cool Waters Yeah, but it’s a pundits job to stay neutral and this was coming from a former Ireland captain !!
He admitted himself that before he knew he qualified for Ireland that he supported England,no harm in that he has an affinity with both countries.
Was that the game that Lineker shit himself lol
I forgot you could pass back to the keeper then.
Lineker dress the irish t-shirt.
brazil cmon coybig
A lovely man ...A true British warrior
Rio Jack
More European teams needed in the world cup. The std is vey poor with all these dodo teams. Lineker always a gentleman. Rip bobby robson. Dunphy was right although big Jack got results.
Tony canaescoragoal cascarino
Dunphy was bitter, bitter to the core. Some cheek - a former millwall player.
That explains a lot - "no one likes me, I dont care", right?
Eamon "I'm ashamed to be Irish" Dunphy
Should've won the game against Egypt. Would've had a far easier game in the quarters then.
Nigel mckenna i am too lazy to google it...what way was it falling...who would we have got ? what way would it have worked out....i am just thinking... was romania a handy draw... not takng the piss... it was a piss poor world cup ... i spose the hosts in the quarter final in rome was a step too far ... i was only 13
My brother put this on my channel sorry any girs
You and your huns could only dream of the like
what's the goalkeeper doing pooing
Dunphy was a good player, but he had potential and could have been better
no
@reuploading tiktoks Sis
Unfortunately ireland 🇮🇪 these days are a million miles off the pace,
2 million
Back when Ireland was a nice country.
As much as I love Irish football I really do think it's time for us to get over Italia '90. We played puke football and scored two goals in 5 games. That new Paul McGrath ad references it and you still hear it mentioned so often in the media. The likes of Costa Rica, Senegal, Ghana and Bulgaria have reached at least the QF in more recent world cups and they probably still don't bang on about it...
Oh shuttup
How do you know? You been to any of those countries you mentioned recently? In fairness Italia 90 was a low scoring tournament on the whole.
@@carrauntoohil86 so low scoring that they actually went ahead and introduced the backpass rule. It was dreadful stuff altogether and fifa knew that they couldn't risk any future world cups being as shit it was..
@@bc2194 the backpass rule was ridiculous then, no doubt. The best change of rule ever introduced to the game.
@@carmel5765 He's actually right. We only made it out of the group because of a horrendous Dutch defensive error. Didn't win a match at all over 90 minutes. 2002 team fared far better, they just lost (barely) to a better team than Romania on penalties to prevent quarter-final progression happening again.
dunphy was right though. looking at those highlights make me cringe, what a waste of talent, think of how well we played against ussr in 88 when the players took matters into their own hands and actually played football....we were just enamoured with jack and he could do no wrong because he brought us where no other manager could, he was the golden goose, the sacred cow, the hand that fed us and how dare anyone burst our bubble with reality?
joe, it is the one and only way a team can play with inferior quality. maybe bar egypt game. and even then...don'tchange your tactics to get automatisms.
by the way the germans always play like that to a certain degree.
@@jeannotschumacher1024 yeah but look at the individuals we had at that time? Go through the names, Brady, Whelan, Aldridge, Mcgrath, Bonner, most of them playing in the top flight, they were great players, trophy winners with their clubs. Jack found a gimmick and stuck with it, he was just lazy.
Dunphy was right about the football. Top class players and we made it through the group stage simply because of a Holland defensive blunder. The 2002 Ireland team did a much better job than this - people overlook that only because in 2002 we happened to be terrible at taking penalties. If we'd been better, we'd have played South Korea in the quarter finals and Jack's work would have been a distant memory.
Oh the 2002 team played better football agreed but this was the most important moment in the history of the nations sporting history.
dunphy is good but not great lol
God we didnt know the risks we where taking back then. Young men shoulder to shoulder, a virus would tear though them like a knife through butter. Stay at home save lives x
All of Ireland's players back then we're English anyway, and the players they have today are English too!!!
actually they are not
