Great post - really brings back the memories. I was 18 during that World Cup and without doubt it was the best summer of my life and one that I don;t think will be bested.
fantastic times.. i was 12...and it was an absolute glorious time to be a kid... an amazing summer i will never forget.... all my neighbours on my street ran out of their houses... hugs everywhere... great times. the whole country went mental🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪😘😘😘😘
12 as well, unreal ... Still get emotional watching this 30 years later. The country went absolutely mad that summer. We'll never see the likes of it again.
The summer of 1990 is one of the best I've ever experienced. Everything was different then: values, people, music, football... I'm Spanish but I really loved and supported the Irish team too during that magical summer... 💚🤍🧡
7.47 watch those reactions!!!!!!!!! It was amazing. Imagine it now, 500 mobile phones and selfies. Missing out on the moment. Pity the kids now. Nothing like this will ever happen again. I I am delighted i was 7 when this all happened. Brilliant.
Such memories, can remember watching the Pen shoot out in a pub in Balinteer in Dublin , then the scenes in O Connell st that night was something il never never forget.
i heard that the ole lad crying, was a writer for the irish times years ago,and died a couple of years ago, just shows how much things like that mattered to people back then, people re-morgated their homes to go to italy and still went with nothing in their pockets.
No sport ever could touch football for the euphoria anywhere in the world and it touched us in 1990 and what a time, never ever forget that summer. Greatest ever sporting achievement.
That summer was mental. After the penalty shootout there was people signing and dancing on the streets in Dublin until well into the next day. It was something I have not seen since that day. Great memories. I just hope they have not become too posh to do it again in the future.
I'd like to say that this CZcams channel is without a shadow of a doubt the best of the best ,I love how the Irish fans enjoyed themselves,at that time we were going to win,we had aims, and we will never see it again,we have great players, they have done brilliantly for the team, the country, the fans as well,I get that you want to do it again just like the old days, but remember we've got the best fans in the world, I'm so proud and privilege for being a fan,my mom would be so proud of me. Coybig! You'll never beat the Irish!☘🇮🇪
My cousin, who had no interest in football, had been working in Boston at the time and flew home during one of Irelands match’s. After collecting his bags he walked through an empty airport. Outside the only car to be seen was his mothers waiting to pick him up. He asked her what was going on and she said that everyone was watching the match. Not a soul or car to be seen anywhere on roads as they drove home.
Peak Ireland 1990 to 2007. Sadly Ireland will never be the same again , I was privileged to live through it and got to witness it, sad to see the country become what it is today but at least I lived it .
@@rossmorebaz Ireland is now a woke, liberal, globalist, dump. Where free speech is dead and only one narrative is pushed. Pride flag has replaced the tricolour. Our culture, heritage, identity, and Christian roots are destroyed thanks to your Varadkar, Martin etc who are selling Ireland off bit by bit.
seeing all the crap thats going on in this country at the moment its watching this video that reminds me why im still proud to be irish, i think we have such a unity bigger than any other country during a world cup or european cup, roll on 2014 hopefully we'll be there so we can go through this all over again
Great times now we are full of championship and lower tier players, most players in that era were division 1 players with some from utd and Liverpool struggling to get on hard to believe.
@ronan32 we are far more backward today, withg are SUV's and Lattes. Everyone looking dow their noses at each other. Today we are just a carbon copy of the UK.
wish we could go back to them days when we had a great sense of community, we all had fuck all but helped each other out. nowadays we still have fuck all but still try to play keepin up with the jone's,. the celtic tiger turned us all into pricks i wsh it never roared...OLE OLE OLE OLE OOH AHH PAUL MCGRATH......
We comprehensively had the beating of Spain at most points in that match...I am actually quietly confident we can do the business against France in the play-offs...
It did show how confused Ireland was. A fella with an Aston Villa jersey @1:12 - young child referencing "Manchester'@1:40. @2:05 a full pub boos and jeers the English anthem throwing bear mats. @3:56 Kevin Sheedy born in Wales but reared in England scores against England. @4:38 fans holding up a cardboard cut out of an Englishman and World Cup winner for England. But yet after all this it enabled the Irish to reclaim the tricolour.
I'll never forget Italia '90. What a time it was to be alive. The whole country was rocking. Thanks a million, Jack.
I'm from Holland, but I definitely respect the Irish. Great passionate people.
We'll never see those days again. Even if we won the thing in the future, it'll never match that summer.
Your dam right
Well if we won it that would top Italia 90, come on now 😲
@@dzg189 10 years late pal 🤣
I know. That really was the golden era of Irish soccer ❤
We might win it alright. Italia 2090 with a team full of ngrs

I feel sorry for the young generation who weren't born or don't remember this. They have missed out on the biggest party this country has ever seen.
My dad always talks about it to me you don't know how baldy I'd love to witness that
@@olankelly6193 I was only 16 myself at the time but they were the best days ever. The country went mad for about a month ha
Fingers crossed Dave we get to experience something similar for Euro 2024 or WC 2026. I pray for it every day
Great great times. . The whole place went mad. ..great atmosphere in the country. .everyone was in great form. . It was brilliant
those times will never come again
not a mobile phone in sight......when life was so much more pure ...real and peaceful

I was 13...i was forming my first band....it was an amazing summer...everyone suddenly turned into hysterical football fans

The idiot wearing the villa jersey supporting Ireland 🇮🇪 v England 🏴
I wss only 17th years. My nerves was going. Best irish team ever. Great atmosphere in dublin. Now cheering on for Holland for the 2024.

Oh man it makes me cry watching this
lump in my throat watching that, thanks for uploading :)
When Ireland was still Irish. Life was so much better in those days, hate this "new Ireland".
on the contrary ... ireland is a much better place now than it was then .. back then it was a depressing s.hit.hole

I was 8 that year. That summer was glorious.
Eoghan Callaghy , I was there from start to finish, greatest holiday I ever had . Not bad for an Irish Scot 🇮🇪☘️
Same. Best World Cup ever.
Never seen this before..unbelievable scenes...the face on the guy just before the winning penalty is amazing
The Golden days
The innocence, the impartiality, the relief, i really thought at the end it was going to say Calvin Klien !
I wish I was alive for this 😥. Rip Bill

Liverpool, United and Arsenal first teamers. few Villa boys too back from their golden days.
Great clip!!!
The old dude crying at 8 mins is classic.....Innocent times in Ireland....
Siting here watching this while all the pubs a closed due to COVID 19, id sell my son to be in a pub with that atmosphere now
Dame i remember this so much i was 15
Whether follow football or not this was a defining moment for the Irish nation.

great to look back..where were you moments
That's when we actually were good at the game, hopefully we can get back to that standard again
If this is how elated they were just reaching the quarter final imagine how happy they would've been if they actually won the competition😮
These days getting to the competitions is like winning it 😂
Great days dame i miss them

What? Where the meeting with the pope you big tease?? Great vid
Irish will always remeber that Italian summer
If this doesn’t make you emotional you’re not human

Bandwagoning at it's finest. "If it wasn't for Sheedy we wouldn't have won."
Bless her
Dermot Lopez Productions just like the time America beat England 1-1 in the 2010 World Cup
Looks like Father Ted, in a good way
The Irish team of italia 90 is better than Argentina or West Germany of 1990.
We were one big family in Ireland back in those days. What happened...?
they were the gud aul days b4 everyone got stuck up with the celtic tiger money bollox! Get them back for 2010 lads!
What pub is this
@niallglennon83 agreed
ahhh ha ha 2.05 boo'n the english priceless!!
god bless da irish :')
4:41 - "Get the fuck outta here" . lol.
on the Irish
You would not be allowed to show people booing the opposing team today. It would be political incorrect.
This is why Ireland are the best fans, we fucking drew nd lookout them
The Irish team of 90 is better than the socceroos of 2006.
Ireland vs Spain 'Irelands goin to win 5-0' !!!
Other countries only celebrate like this, if they win the WC...
The mots ruining the craic.
It's a pity the government and the faceless civil servants don't treat Irish people with respect and give them their own homes
What does that have to do with Football lad?
9.04 looks like homeless bloke is playin the tune on his harmonica
Dacă nu simula dumitrescu la penaltyul,cu belgia nu ajungeam in SUA la mondial!!!!

It's excellent but seriously, what's wrong with peoples hair?
