He was a great goalkeeper in his day, but I think this tournament was one too far. I think a younger keeper wouldn't have conceded the soft goal to West Germany and made the mistake in this game.

Sacchi era ossessionato dalla tattica e quando erano in giornata arrivavano le goleade, ma faceva un turnover frenetico e senza senso, Cesare Maldini è stato quello che era la via di mezzo fra i 2 romagnoli e le sue squadre giocavano bene e segnavano. (4 europei under21 un bronzo e 3 ori, Francia 98 è finito perché abbiamo trovato la Francia che sarebbe diventata campione mondiale in casa sua sul nostro cammino...)
