What a World Cup Platty had. He came from nowhere to really be an important player for us (due to Bryan Robson’s injury).
But really Italy should have won this World Cup, they were far far better than that dreadful Argentina team which knocked them out. And I think they would have had too much for the Germans too.
The better team lost both semi-finals.
As an Italian I don't think Italy could have defeated W Germany in the final...they were too strong!

In my opinion both West Germany and Italy 🇮🇹 were two great teams but I believe West Germany would have won because Italy didn't have too many players to stop fellows lik e the great Brehme Matthas Kholer
and of course the unstoppable Klinsmann. And last but not least the great Voller.

Peccato che non siamo riusciti a vincere quei Mondiali, anche se non li ricordo.
Era un calcio con calciatori che sapevano rischiare, non come i calciatori odierni che si passano mille volte la palla prima di cadere.
Dopo la partita le due squadre hanno fatto assieme delle ole. Moncone dopo la finale degli Europei 2020, dove i calciatori inglesi si sono tolti tutti la medaglia d'argento.

Italy were offside on their first goal, but also probably should have had a penalty for a foul by Shilton on Baggio after Baggio stole the ball, so it evens out I guess.

Nonsense. Shilton was generally an excellent keeper, and his understudy was Chris Woods, who was decent.

No bossman the Italians wouldn't be too much for the Germans, Never because Germany had a very strong defense with the likes of Guido Buchwald, Klaus Argunthaleur, Stefan Reuter Thomas Berthold, Adreas Brehme and Jurgen Kholer. Italy would't be able to pass those big tall and gigantic talented defenders. That's the only German team that would have won an Italian team in a major tournament.
No way. Italy always beats Germany in world cups, and they certainly would have beaten them in a final in Rome. Especially when you consider how unimpressive Germany were vs both England and Argentina in those last 2 games.

@@iamtman1 That is not true. The crowd in Naples actually booed Argentina while their national anthem was playing. This pissed Maradona off to the extent he muttered "sons of bitches" in Italian at the end of the Argentine national anthem.

You don’t know much about Naples. It’s hot the largest Argentinian population in Europe. As for the booing of the anthems that sadly happens everywhere. And regardless of Maradona reaction to it, Italy was clearly the better team for 90% of the game until goal keeper zenga’s amateurish mistake allowed the tying goal.

In quel mondiale c'erano stadi obbrobriosi, d'altronde come la maggioranza degli stadi italiani. A Italia '90 si salvavano solo San Siro e il Ferraris. Come modernità l'Olimpico di Roma e il Delle Alpi erano buoni, ma purtroppo i giocatori si vedono/vedevano col binocolo
