I owned a Syclone for a few years. It was an absolute beast on the streets. I loved lining up next to people at red lights, especially when I knew they thought they were fast. 😁 That truck surprised a lot of people off the line.

Yep, I know the feeling. Except I've got Typhoons. One bone stock, 37k miles, mint, my Pop bought it new. The other one.... Not so much on stock. I mean, they certainly *could" have come with a pro-charged 400 sbc but Im pretty sure they didn't.

Better still I have 2VOLVO T5R ESTATES BTW they the fastest Estate from 0 to 60 and flatout ever made as the both from before the dreded speed limiter the clock says 160mph. I've had both past that. 5 cylinder and only 300 bhp. 0 to 60 about same as a Honda Fireblade 4-5 secs.

I think the Syclone/Typhoon deserved more attention....0-60 in the low to mid 4 second range was unthinkable in the early 90s. Quickest production truck ever as far as I can tell...
Lightnings will always hold a special place in my heart 1st generation or 2nd. But the Cyclones and Typhoons were cool as hell too.

@@haychkhamisa07khamisa21 true, but at the same time the video creators focus was likely on American trucks, but he seems more like a personality than a person, like he just looked up really fast trucks, and then said it excitedly on video, but I diverged, they're not sleepers to Americans, my favorite has always been the lightning, and you can't say with that bad ass look that its a sleeper, especially when you hear that v8, I had the same engine, less mods but that mf would launch, 300 ft•lb just under 300 hp, and it was a king ranch with all leather, you couldn't get much of a better deal for $2500

Vehicles that are slept on means that no one talks about them and he’s right no one ever talks about them but we all know a lot of people who grew up with these Monsters and they’re the only ones who talk about them but they’re always at work mostly doing construction so the only people you’ll hear about these monsters from are the people who grew up in the 80s,90s they’re all into that stuff it was like a Bugatti to them back then

My best memory in my Dad’s 99 Lightning was going to a movie theater to see the original Fast and Furious! We didn’t even know the Lightning was in the movie. His was also red and leaving the theater we lined up with a foxbody Mustang at a red light who was also there... let’s just say he was left in the dust!

2000 Dakota R/T single cab deserved an honerable mention.. Comes with h.o 360 and was easy to build over 300hp with stock internals.. Good luck finding one. Still trying to buy mine back 😁

I have an original poster ,sales brochures and dealer only information.
I used to own one. I had the PTE 67mm turbo and an A2A intercooler. It had a big magna fuel pump and 120# injectors. I had a race shop build the transmission and had it shifting lightning quick. It was fast but never got a chance to put it on the track. Went thru a divorce and had to sell it.
Granted, stock, the SS454 wasn't much more than a tire melting, bar hopper, but with minimal upgrades, it was one of the most popular, most well built, baddest trucks ever made. I had one, a 93 in Victory Red, and it was a beast stop light to stop light and on the highway. Definitely needs at least an honorable mention.

I remember back in 93 my metal shop teacher got himself Cyclone. He'd been talking about it since my freshman year and when he showed up in it, he lit'em up for us. 2 big black strips and billows of smoke.
Old school shop teachers are treasures. We need to keep the trades in school's. I still use all the stuff I learned back theu shop class and ag class, almost everyday of my life.
Those cyclones and typhoons remind me of grand nationals... I would love to have all 3 models.
I actually have the night runner edition of the SRT-10, I took all of my badges off and basically go to ‘sleep’ on sporty cars when I see them. One of my favorite all time races was when I raced a Challenger Hellcat.

@@daeionforthewin7860 yes! One of the reasons I recently got rid of mines was because of this issue with the fuse box especially on the 06’ years. I tried to replace it with a refurbished one and still nothing. That ended up killing the whole truck and I ended up getting rid of it. Just keep that in mind when you purchase one cause it’s a chance that may happen.

The LS6 from the 70s was not the same engine as the ls6 from the 2000s. The old one was a big block. GM reuses their engine codes. There’s even engines named LS2 and LS3 from the 70s.

@@niccunningham5677 The LS6 was very much a big block first back in the late 60's early 70's. GM has reused multiple engine codes for very different engines, they have used LT-1 at least 3 times on very different engines. 70's, 90's and now.

@This username found a MINT 94 for $10k. Had 15k miles on it. Guy had it set up for the track. It sold quickly though. That was a beautiful truck. Interior looked like it came straight out of the ford plant.

The Ford lightning was my absolute dream truck when I was a kid, I have a 13 single cab 6.7 Powerstroke now, I did a 4wd launch against a 02 lightning and beat it. Love it, it’s my truck on the farm and it’s a sleeper on the streets.
It’s amazing how much power diesels can make. The new 6.7 does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds!
I've owned an SRT-10 since 2004. Still love it. Never going to part with it. It's been a solid machine for 60,000 miles. Between it and the GT4 every drive is a good one.

@@hoodieman04 The intimidator ss was only made in 2006 I believe. It had a bit more upgrades compared to the regular ss as it had better suspension & things of that sort. It came with a 6.0 liter LQ9 engine with 4 10 gears & came with all wheel drive suspension. The truck pushed around 345 horsepowers, if I’m not mistaken. Even though it wasn’t the fastest, it is one of my dream trucks. I am 14 so I hope to be able to buy one in the future if God allows me. Have a nice day 👋
@@moisestorres5448 I always wanted the 2006 SILVERADO SS truck but don’t like the fact that it only came in a extra cab and I wanted a crew cab. Then I found me a 2006 GMC SIERRA DENALI that has the same specs as the Silverado SS truck and ended up buying it. Hate the front end on the Denali truck though.

1962 dodge d100 short bed. 413 big block. Twin carbs. 727 automatic gear benders over drive 8 3/4 rear. 4wheel disc brakes. The engine build happened 4 years ago. Needless to say this truck's a monster. Power steering, power brakes, air conditioner. Lots of fun.

Own a 2nd Gen Lightning. Love this truck. Tuned, pulleys, air intake, ignition and exhaust. Lowered, wheels, tinted and custom leather diamond stitched interior. My baby!! 16 psi boost, just over 500 ftlbs torque and 500+ hp. Lights em up at 35 mph. Hang on!!
Don't forget the Chevy 454ss! Sweet truck considering how restricted it was by emissions equipment. They really come to life with a few tweaks.

I had 2 Tundra regular cab short bed TRD Off Roads. I scored one of the last ones ever produced in 2013 and really regret letting that one go! Most of the RCSB 5.7 Tundras got exported to Saudi Arabia, where they were quite popular with the upper class for dune racers.

I recently purchased a 2018 Ram 1500 Quad cab Sport. It came with a 5.7l hemi and has been upgraded with a Whipple Supercharger. It’s pushing 500 HP and I love my truck!
I used to have an Oxford White 2001 Ford Lightning with: Smaller Upper and Lower Pullies, Bullet Racing Cams, JLT Intake W/ C&L Elbow, MAFia maf, Single Blade Throttle Body, ARH Long Tube Headers, Hi-Flow Cats, Bassani Dual Exhaust.... I sold it and got a 2010 RCSB Tundra 4x4 W/ TRD Off Road Package...Just Waiting on Procharger to Finally Release a Blower for us, later this year or 2022, the Tundra is "funner" to me because of the selective shifting option on the center console shifter...It feels like I'm driving a Supras overweight cousin 😂... for being stock I can't complain about how it gets up and goes. Awesome video!!!

One truck that few even know this but the 2003 half ton Gmc four wheel drive only were fitted with the 5.3 320 hp Four wheel drive half tons in 03 only
My Titan has long tube headers, high flow test pipe, r8 coils, ls7 throttle body, exhaust, cam and intake and it flys for a truck.

I’ve been seeing consistent 4.9-5.3 second 0-60MPH times with STOCK Ram classic regular cabs 2wd, Hemi, and 3.92 gears. That Hemi and the 8spd ZF are in love with each other.

I ended up with a surprise sleeper, it a 1994 GMC 1500 turbo diesel. Because its on the lighter suspension and was ordered with posi it rolls out quite well !! The newer duramax trucks can catch it now so it might be time to put in the 6.6 with more gears.

Svt lightning 🌩 is one of the god of trucks hands down 🛻! ❤️🔥, I’ve actually lined up against one of those bad boys in my bmw m5 2016 and I got gapped nasty asf lol , since then I’ve loved those trucks
I used to own a 2007 Tundra i had the 4.7 V8 in mine..went the full bolt on route with it, intake manifold from MRD Kelford cams, she dyno'd in at 450hp 510tq and with a 4.11 LSD in the rear even running 285/75/18s i could hold a 3rd gear burnout.. Lol we had gutted the truck out and she only weighed 4600lbs compared to 5200lbs stock. I could hold in with the Supercharged 5.7 but the Supercharged 5.7 would get me on the top end due too gearing.. 5.7s came with 3.73 gears, 4.7s came with a 4.11 LSD

Fundra, I own an 08 crew max 5.7 supercharged, trd dual exhaust. Really fun truck. Also the mini version Tacoma supercharged 3.4 i own is a great woods and dirt road rig. Both are 4x4

Good ole 1990 Chevy shortbox 454 ss was my favorite
I owned a 1979 Dodge Lil' Red Express and my father had a 1991 GMC Typhoon. The Typhoon was the Syclone's brother built on the S-10/Jimmy SUV platform. My Lil' Red was old and worn out by the time I bought it but I had lots of fun with my father's Typhoon for sure!! I had a friend who had the SVT Lighting which I drove several times and it was also fun to drive.

Never owned any of these but my old man had a lighty modded 07 rt dakota that was ridiculously fast. The only thing that really gave it hell was a lightning with swapped pulleys and bigger injectors
Tuned 3.5 eco boost F-150s can roast tires and lay down a pretty stout 0-60. I’ve seen dyno numbers on them around 450wbp 600ft-lb torque. Which I would say makes them a pretty good sleeper.

My dad had a white 2001 Ford lightning it was pretty sweet smashing that gas pedal and hearing the supercharger sounding like it's coming thru the dash, but hell those rear tire were Alstyne pricy
In 2004 someone special ordered a 2 Wheel Drive Dodge Dakota with the 5.7 HEMI. ( 345 HP version ) I think that one was pushing 400 HP though because it had headers, free flowing exhaust and Cold air intake. ( it was factory modes from Mopar ) It was sold at the Dodge dealership here in Texas of 820 and Grapevine HWY. It wasn’t called Auto Nation at the time. I slept sense then so I can’t remember the name of it. They showed a video of it flat out smoking a SRT 10 Ram. The Dakota was a 5spd Auto and the SRT 10 was a 6spd manual. I would have loved to own that truck!!!

SRT-10 The manual in that thing had the throw and shifter length of a GMC dump truck. It was a bear to make it actually run like that. See Racer X's video on it.

There is one "Muscle" truck that you forgot, that dates even older than the El Camino, & it's the Dodge Custom Sports Special (CSS), from 1965-66). It was a Max Wedge 426/365hp.

Omg just seeing the cover of that 90s Car n Driver brought back so many memories. I used to go to my local library. Yes you damn whipper snappers a library we had to go physically into a building to learn shit. Not your Favorites library on your iPhone when you go to Google. But inside a library and we’d go thru so many Car n Driver magazines and just dream!!!
I had an 05 Dodge Ram Hemi with the 3.92 LSD from the factory it was a pretty fast truck, beat most Hondas and Silverado SS out there, then I got a 5.7 Tundra with the 4.30 gears, I would pull on lightnings, and some SRT10's from 0-80 no problem.
I got something that can kill all those trucks (a Tacoma with a 2jz single turbo)

I loved the look and sound of the 454ss but it was really slow and only a little over 200hp. All show and no go. The obs original Lighting of that era was faster with over a hundred less cubic inches under the hood.
