With due respect to the cars here, I believe the Volvo XC40 remains the benchmark in the segment. It should have been there.
They had called for it but didn't make it in time as all others were clocking 40 km more per hour 🌚

People who don't have any knowledge about volvo xc40 would try to be over smart here. Volvo xc40 beats all the cars in the segment by a fair margin.
You need to make pretty and exciting cars. Volvo makes good cars but not the 2 things i mentioned sadly
The surprising thing about this comparison was just how overwhelming the verdict in favour of the GLA was! Didn't expect it to outscore the BMW on driving pleasure!

It’s just that the GLA just doesn’t look an suv albeit it’s very posh and stylish. The BMW feels a substantially larger car an suv in comparison, translates to better space inside

Actually XC40 makes more sense than any of these, but the only minus is it's low on power.
Why not the mini?
Low on power and practicality is not on par . Rear seat upright angle and cushion not good
also its rear windows are too small and designed properly

Quite informative comparo Sirish. Think you forgot to mention about Active Brake Assist feature on GLA which is exclusive and an important in this trio. BTW, @8:57, which cool watch are you wearing?
The BMW will score with customers more because those out buying an SUV prefer space and that large window area over anything else and somehow the road presence and footprint of Gla is smaller than bmw. If someone is keem on a Merc a C class or even the cheaper A class has more space and looks better. This Gla still looks a hatch on stilts, albeit much better looking than previous gen. Not to mention that BMW has the image of an enthusiast brand regarding dynamicc and performance which will pull in even the customers who drive.

@@madkilleryt8934 I see you're going price wise but actually the proper rival is the M340i and this also falls in the same price bracket.
Moreover, M2 Competition is a 2 door car while the others including the M340i are 4 door cars and while the M2 Competition is the full fledged M product, the M340i isn't, just like how the C43 and S5 Sportback aren't the full fledged AMG and RS products respectively.

Brilliant review. Totally understandable with this trio. As a first time luxury buyer or shopping for a second luxury its highly likely >90% of the customers would look into these 3 cars. When you spend over 50 lakhs of hard earned money its most likely to be for a reputable brand like BMW,MB, and then maybe a Mini. Keep up the good work.

A little downside for the petrol engine, not happy to see the 1.3 litre petrol motor from Renault stable. Wish they had continued with 2.0 petrol motor.

Sirish, isn’t the x1 actually more of a SUV than the GLA ? With more roomy cabin and leg space a tall stance . You did not show the rear seat of x1. In comparison with the GLA. I think the GLB makes more sense for Indian market

Mini in the mix was quite odd in the first place, but I lost it when he said he is happy hearing sporty sounds even if they are only through speakers. Is this what car reviews has gotten to these days?

The X1 20i gets a super quick DCT. The Mini isn’t the only Petrol option here.

He’s partial to the Mercedes GLA with the AMG package. Against the entry level BMW X1 and the Mini Countryman S. That’s an apple, an orange and a cutie!
The 0-60 for the following…BMW X2 M35i 4.6, MB GLA AMG 35 5.0 and Mini Countryman JCW 4.4…all 3 with approx 300hp.
Important three things are 1. Rate 2. Mileage 3. Safety. All these cars are failed in first two things, satisfied with third thing.
But Indian cars are better in first two, but third to some extent not good. So our cars are good.
I think this video is good example of how NOT to compair cars.
Missing Q3 and XC40 here and only inclusion of X1 and Mini. Hope this is not kind of revenge video for particular brand ;-)

The GLA has really stepped up the game. Particularly with the interiors. Feels a step above the competition at the moment.

Too pricey for what it offers, Q2 will not stand a chance.
I own the exact same AMG Line GLA 220D but the ride isn’t great at all… It’s a great vehicle over all but the suspension is just useless even in comfort mode.
My favourite is Mercedes Benz !!

Its not an proper verdict, you have just praised the GLA just like advertising, X1 is fare more better when comparing with second row space , boot space with out spare wheel & driving dynamic, GLA boot is almost occupied with the spare wheel and the second row is better for two occupants only, tech wise the GLA is upgraded with features loaded other than that i fell bmw x1 & volvo xc 40 are the true winners.
Tiguan 5 seater is better than all of them and much cheaper.
Doubtful for what they offer in 58 Lkh for this in Mumbai 🤔

The BMW is not with 8 Speed its the 7 Speed DCT.
However the benchmark of the segment is the Volvo xc40... that had to be part of this comparo..... except for a bit lack of power it excels in most of the other parameters safety
Surprised that the XC40 was not included in this comparison. That would have made this video complete.
