Banksy Artwork Shredded After Selling at Auction May Have Increased in Value

- Art connoisseurs could only watch in horror as an expensive piece was shredded before their eyes. No sooner did the gavel come down to mark the sale of Banksy's "Girl With Balloon" for a record $1.4 million, did the picture start to slip out of its frame into shreds below. The anonymous artist claims to be behind the stunt. He says he built the shredder into the painting's frame in case it ever sold at auction. InsideEdition.com's Mara Montalbano ( / maramontalbano ) has more. #InsideEdition

I’m impressed that he was able to build a shredder into a picture frame years ago that kept its charge while being able to monitor for some sort of remote signal to begin shredding. I’d LOVE to know how all that actually worked!
My guess is that he pays the museum staff secretly to replace the batteries from time to time.
We don't have to guess - not many people know Banksy has a CZcams channel, where he gave us a small glimpse into this stunt

The feeling of buying something nice and seeing it destroyed is the true form of art. The on lookers all had different reactions, confusion, shock, suprise. What was felt in that room at that exact moment will never be felt more true. The act itself is art.
The fact that he never wanted it sold and higher powers do whatever they wanted with his art. Truly astonishing, and well done for him to implement such a protocol 💯
The protocol backfired, it sold 20x the auction listed price due to the unique frame and shredded picture.

WHY YOU THINK ABOUT NXDE
Banksy is a street artist. The point was to highlight the stupidity of the art industry and selling art for millions of dollars when it should and is shared for free. The fact that it went up in value after the shredding proved his point.
For people who don’t know, Bansky is a ANNONYMOUS artist. His AGE is about 40-50 (educatingly guessed). His rule was for his paintings to never be RESOLD, so he installed shredders into all of the frames he put his artwork in. So as soon as it was sold in auction, he triggered the shredder. Now, people STILL do not know who he is. But some say he must of been there to trigger it.
