I've thought from the very first listen that Ireland wouldn't appeal to stereotypical Eurovision fans but do well enough with the jury and things to get it through. Rather like Austria and Australia last year!

You are wrong about Greece and Cyprus . You really don't know anything about greek culture , but it is your right to talk . The one song is in greek with clear greek sound and absolutely greek presentation . The other is a dance , catchy , in English from a well known singer in Greece. Different reasons to love them . So nobody compare them . In Greece Oniro mou is number one for months now in Greece causing feelings of emotional reactions to Greece all over the world !

Don't make me laugh dear, just to remind you that in 2015 Greece gave 12 points to Italy when the contestant for Greece was a Cypriot woman... As far as Scandivanian countries is concerned 7 8 10 12 points mysteriously scattering to the neighbouring countries such as Norway, Finland, your lovely Denmark, Iceland. Think twice before you start talking. Much love to Sweden anyway.

My prediction and my personal rating for semi 1 :
01. Estonia - 10/10 (excellent voice, beautiful melody, stunning staging)
02. Greece - 9/10 (the most authentic/original song of the year)
03. Bulgaria - 8/10 (very beautiful dark contemporary song)
04. Israel - 2/10 (silly song but many teenagers will vote it)
05. Cyprus - 1/10 (cheap dance song but many teenagers will vote it)
06. Czech Republic - 2/10 (similar to many USA songs but many teenagers will vote it)
07. Finland - 5/10 (good dance song)
08. Austria - 7/10 (beautiful song and voice)
09. Armenia - 5/10 (originality/authenticity like Greece)
10. Albania - 9/10 (the best male voice of this year and also beautiful song)

Well it's been in pretty much every fan's top 10 or top 5 video of all the songs in the contest since the start. It's gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews from Greeks and Europe which rarely happens in Greece. It's the most liked and one of the top 3 most viewed video of all the ESC tracks. So I guess they do :) If Portugal can win in Portuguese, and Ukraine can win with a far worse song and staging in Ukrainian, then why shouldn't this pass?

I strongly believe that Greece will definitely qualify. Firstly, the song is strong and with a deep meaning. Secondly, the Greek diaspora is one of the biggest across Europe. Thirdly, Yianna is a beautiful and graceful woman. And lastly, this is pure magic.

- Czech Republic (He isn't as static as I thought he would be after his injury and the cut-aways are great)
- Switzerland (The song is good and the staging brings attitude. It will be close but it should make it)
- Finland (Staging is great and so is the song)
- Belgium (Wasn't a fan of the song before but I, for one, think the staging works!)
- Lithuania (Touching and beautiful, this stands out significantly)
- Greece (Ehh, it will be close but I can't see this getting left behind
- Croatia (As much as the staging elevates this, it will finish similarly to Martina Barta)
- Austria (The official snippet doesn't look great and his outfil is lousy. This will be the shock NQ imo)
- Belarus (The staging is mad but I think the jury will punish it for that reason. Plus it will put a lot of people off)
- Albania (It's too simple and gets forgotten)
- Azerbaijan (The staging is overrated and the song isn't high impact enough. Agree with Padraig, this will do a Serbia 2017)
- Armenia (It and Azerbaijan will give each other 0, weakening their chances. In addition, the staging is too boring, sadly)
- Macedonia (I love the studio cut, but the staging is too messy. Pus the male vocal is too loud)
- Ireland (It's sweet but the shots of Ryan don't work)
- Iceland (He oozes charisma but the song oozes melatonin)

Guys, with all my respect, you sometimes miss the point because you live the contest from the inside, as eurofans, which I hugely appreciate. But, watching the contest year after year, I noticed many of those who vote, watch the acts for the first time and they don't even care about 'Stones' album or them as vocalists. In terms of qualifying it's a completely different story that neither the audience nor the juries or this neighbouring alliances take into account.
But, anyway, I love your passion and how hard you work to keep us informed at all times!!!! Thanks soooo much from a Spanish fan. 😍

I just love watching back the predictions and how wrong we all were 😂 Well done William for predicting Albania! I think that as big fan favourites (although they weren't my own) most of us thought Belgium have had 3 great results in a row and would still qualify, and that Greece was certain especially with Cyprus in Semi 1 too, also Azerbaijan was pretty borderline but after 10 years of qualification they would make it somehow. Feel all three were shockers! Albania and Ireland were the shock non-qualifiers for me, but gave great performances. I was ECSTATIC for Saara Aalto defying the odds and qualifying ♥ Switzerland were amazing and thought it was a shame for them, if Zibbz were in Semi 2 they would have qualified. This Semi 1 really was the best ever in my opinion, it shows that 6 songs out of the Final Top 10 were from Semi 1!
I must admit that Croatia and Cyprus have the best looking divas in this competition! Looking forward to seeing them both in the final ❤

Aleksandar Kan his voice for me was the worst in last years competition, his music the most boring and it reminded me of Disney (like, PLEASE) and I really start to hate wiwibloggs not because the don't like our country's entry but they don't know what they want. They see all those pyrotechnics and smoke and the lights and they say is boring, Austrias stage has literally nothing, Belgium has nothing too but they say that the stage is amazing and all that like seriously, the need to figure out what they want before the start critizing an entry (not only the Greek one but every entry in the competition)

Honestly thus semi is insane. There's only one song I can make no case for and that's Iceland after that I have no idea. A lot of quality will be left behind here I just hope Finland gets through it's one the only ones that's maybe borderline that I have to say deserves it more thab most. Fact is a lot of quality will be lost here and no shade just my personal taste but a lot of crap is gonna make the final in semi 2.

Finland is the one that i am shocked about, her voice and staging should get her through don't you think?
My only problem with Greece was the staging, that’s been fixed. A) as someone in the Greek diaspora I will use my phone and dial once for Yianna and once for Eleni because I can vote for as many people as I want, as many times as I want 😂 B) Podraig I’m waiting for your video on the translation of Salvador’s song and what you understood in Portuguese as a UK/Irish resident 👌
