    I love the whole point about the adults in a lot of kid's sitcoms being idiots and buffoons, but Raven's parents not being like that. I definitely get the feeling that a lot of other shows would have had Cory's little plan work on them, at least when Cory tried it (obviously it wouldn't work for Raven, because sitcom logic), but Raven's parents always felt really real to me. Like all the other Disney shows have the parents being so goofy that they're barely parents (in Good Luck Charlie for sure, the dad in Wizards of Waverly Place most of the time, Robby Ray in Hannah Montana rarely ever knows what schemes his kids are cooking up, the parents in Phineas and Ferb are oblivious) but Raven's parents were goofy and still very parental...and anyway it was a masterpiece of a show.

      The Dad in Wizards was a GOOD dad what r u talking about? More often than not, he busted the kids (particularly Alex). Maybe u didn't watch that show in-depth or notice it but he and the mom are definitely one of the stronger sets of parents on the network. Good Luck Charlie's parents were also really caring towards their kids, I've watched the show (even tho I didn't finish)

It’s definitely not a bad thing, they love their kids and it’s a sitcom, it should be funny, but like idk That’s so Raven just always felt a lot more realistic to me, that was all I was really trying to say

    That’s So Raven was one of the best shows on Disney Channel, if not the best, especially compared to the ones on Disney Channel currently. You know why parents nowadays blame the teachers? Because those parents were the kids who got chewed out by their parents "back in your time". So they make the active decision to make their kid out to be this perfect blameless angel because that's what they wished their parents did when they were kids.

Disney Channel in general has never been 100% realistic or gritty, but the older shows were less sugarcoated and weren't afraid to be a little bold or border on being risqué. I can name many little examples from different shows and even some of the early DCOMS

    Also, I grew up in a more conservative state and only knew like, two non white kids when I was young, so this show really helped understand racism like in the episode with Raven trying to get a job and they won’t give it to her because she’s black. I miss kid shows that were more open about those issues.

  • @McFlingleson
    @McFlingleson Před 2 lety +2

    So I only saw this show in little bits and pieces when we went to my grandparents' house because we didn't have the Disney channel at home and I didn't like it but my sister did so I saw whatever happened to be on when I walked in while my sister was watching it, but I always thought it was an interesting take on the idea of being able to see the future because being able to see through the veil of what is still yet to be always seemed really OP to me, but in this show the main character just gets a little 5 second clip of something that's supposedly going to happen at some point but has no idea when it's going to happen or what the events surrounding or leading up to that thing happening are, so it might not always be very useful and often it's straight-up detrimental because what she sees in her vision of the future gives her one idea of how things are going to go so she acts according to that idea but then something completely different happens.
