When I was 13 while watching this pilot episode, I thought that Miley and Lily looked super old (16+.) But, now watching this as an adult, they look 13. Perception changes with age.

Getting a 18/19 year old to play a 17 year old just simplifies things. As long as the actor is ok with it, it's ok. They also can work full days, not the half days children can do. A 30- year-old is ridiculous, but a few years won't make much difference and is much easier.

I also graduated from high school in 2006, and I knew lots of people my age who liked Disney Channel. And the next year in college, there were people in my dormitory listening to the High School Musical soundtrack. At the time, it was just sort of normal for actual teenagers to watch Disney Channel, and you really were a well-adjusted high school senior if that's what you were into at the time.

I just realised after all this years that miley got away with being two people, same body, same voice, same everything just by wearing a wig and no one noticed yet in the first episode she goes out of her way lowering her voice and putting pie on her face just so lily didn't recognize her...
It's cause the people closest to you have a higher chance of finding out since they know your speaking voice and they've seen you up close. She was taking precautions.
I know now that I think about that was like the part of the show that got to me how no one in her life noticed how similar Hannah and Miley are which is hard to rationalize
But miley genuinely looks diff in the wig and she changes her style completely too, the rest of the disguise is purely social and psychological. When you're talking to/watching Hannah, you see the star and pop queen, a celebrity not a really a real person to an extent but then you go to miley and she's just this typical teenager, you won't think glamor and Hannah when you see her

Like most Disney shows the main character is always LYING and doing really really messed up things and then apologizing and hugging at the end. It's very cute though and gives me feels. But honestly disney characters tend to be very manipulative and deceitful.

I watched as a teen up until the last season "fourever" or whatever it was called and finally decided to watch it recently and I gotta say you're right about Emily Osment, she was definitely the highlight, especially at the end when emotions were high Emily acted circles around Miley, she made Lilly genuinely look like she was devastated. I was shocked.
Am I the only one who just loveeeeeessssss Alex Meyers videos and then looks to watch something else but that gets boring so u go back to Alex Meyers then it just like “now this is what i needed today”???
