- This 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd pickup trucks heater core was plugged up. I had back flushed it 2 years ago and got him some heat but once again it had no heat this year. I had already done a radiator in it over the summer and flush it out so it had good clean antifreeze in it. So lets get it apart and replace the heater core.
This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. Another wonderful design by some engineer that doesn't need to ever work on it themselves. I swear if they had to they'd make it easier for the average person to do it
You tore that down like a boss. Take no shit from the cars you work on. Show em who's boss. Good job 👍
I also have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. 152,000 miles. Same heater core issue. Little heat output & also leaks. Too much work for this guy. I'm a skilled operator, not a skilled mechanic like you are. Watched the whole video, too. Thanks for the share guys, Great work !!
Good work , great passion !
Nice job!
I wonder if theresbaj easier way, cutting through the firewall to slide it out. I found one of these trucks for cheap, but the heater core is out of it. I do not have the tools to evacuate the air conditioning.
Go check with your local repair shop and ask them to recover it for you. I have recovered R134a for people who want to do there own work before and recharged it. They will charge you for this service. Then you won't be letting it out in to the air.
No clue why they unhooked the ac.
To remove the box you have to disconnect the A/C lines.
OH THE HELL WITH IT!!! I OWN AN 03 1500 AND I'M JUST GOING TO CUT THE HEATER HOSES AND SPLICE THEM TOGETHER ON MINE!!
This one was really not that hard. I have done other heater cores in other cars and trucks that were a total pain. Thanks for watching
How many hours did it take total to complete this job. Thanks for the video.
7 hours
How much would be the approximate cost of labor?
I do not remember.
is this the same on a 2004 with the 5.7 Hemi?
2002 thru 2008 is the third generation RAM and should be the same or very similar
Well. Looks like im gonna be going without heat in my truck this winter. Probably next winter too. 🤣 I definitely don't have the patience to do it myself and too poor to have a shop fix it for me. 🤣 2003 1500 4wd hardly any heat at all coming thru. Was 25° this morning on my way to work.
Im having the same problem 😪😪
This was not as hard as some of the other cars and trucks that I have done in the past. I thought this one was pretty easy.
What would a shop usually charge for that? I work 6 days a week 10 hours a day so I could have 1 day without my truck but if I do it myself it's definitely not getting done in one day.
@@DavidJohnson-no9jd I do not do the pricing. but a lot
I have done some that are equally as difficult or at least as difficult. Why in the world would they design it that way way? Is it to much to ask to just make it so you can remove your glove box and it be right there.
I do not know why. But this one came apart pretty straight forward. Thanks for watching
