    That tiny house is well laid out for Air B&B purposes, though it's too small to live in permanently. I'm sure that the well water was tested and is fine to drink, but I'd want to have a flush toilet! In many areas, if it's on wheels it can't be taxed as real estate.

    coffee pot: it is a french press cafetiere. You take the metal+plastic part off. Then put the amount of coffee required (2 spoonfuls for 2 cups) then you add the near-boiling water, then put back the metal and plastic filter, and slide it down SLOWLY all the way down. I hate coffee, but I have it on my partner's dubious authority (he loves coffee anyway) that it makes an excellent beverage.

    cash, the coffee press is really easy to use, and makes the BEST taste. Just drops the scoops of coffee grind in the canister.. add kettle water to the line. Add the press.. let it sit for a minute, I always like really strong coffee. Then.. slowly press down on the applicator.. the top of the press. Do it evenly.. and once it reaches the bottom, the coffee is ready. I love this kind of making coffee...

    Awesome tiny house! Technically there’s no plumbing for the toilet, the sinks probably drain directly into an underground gray water tank or one directly under the house that are “honey dipped” later. RV a/c is perfect for a small house like that.
    Living in an rv full time myself I understand not wanting to handle the toilet waste. We’ve been looking at one of those dry flush toilets, they’re much easier to handle than the maintenance on a regular rv one is.
    Beautiful view and a nice house! Thank you for the tour 😊

      A lot of people go for the "Nature's Head" portable potty...they say the poo turns to dust but you're leaving the poo in the receptacle for months. And with three people, you'd have to be emptying the urine jug several times a day. And, not to mention, it costs about $1200. I camped for a month only using a camping chair with a hole cut in the seat with a bucket underneath, lined with a biodegradable adult sized poop bag and filled with peat moss and pine chips. It worked quite well. No smell (important when you're in a place with bears) and easy to clean...just tie up the bag and toss it in the trash.

    • @ZeoCyberG
      @ZeoCyberG Před 2 lety

      @@FrankiesFancy Nature's Head isn't a complete composting system. So you don't actually leave it there until it finishes composting but dump it periodically into a composting bin to finish the process. Though, for just one person it can take up to a few months until it gets full and less with multiple people. While you could use a urine diverter instead of needing to dump the jug to eliminate that issue. Mind, it's easier to get rid of the urine because it's sterile and you can dilute it to be safe for most plants.
      However, composting doesn't turn the waste into dust but into soil. It's nature's way of recycling organic matter back into the earth and is how you make healthy soil to grow plants...
      There's also different types of composting toilets, options like Nature's Head keep them normal size but aren't large enough to do the full process of composting. So must be dumped, but there are larger toilets that are complete composters... There's even options for flushable composting toilets that either use foam or a few ounces of water to flush the waste from the toilet to a remote composting bin but those can be more than 4 times the price. While for larger homes you can have a simple gravity system with the toilet a floor above the composting bin and you only need to dump the complete systems when they're done composting and it's just soil... Depending on environment, it can take up to 2 years for human waste to fully break down and be safe to use as compost...

    AirB&Bs are great! My husband and I rented an AirB&B near Flagstaff. The unit was a converted storage shed on a horse ranch. Our views were far from the green surrounding you! Red hills, sage brush, and a volcano being mined for its red rocks. Our rental was a great jumping off point for the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater, Meteor Crater, ancient Native American ruins, and we got to “stand on the corner” in Winslow Arizona. I also stayed at three AirB&Bs in Germany which were great as well. If you are traveling in Europe I strongly recommend staying at AirB&Bs as you have a more intimate view of the country you are visiting.

      But then there are the horror stories. My sister stayed in one in my town. The owners were paying for renovations from the bookings, and had the historic building decorated in some sort of steam punk variation, making it look like it should be in a haunted house movie. She had to let in one of the construction workers banging on the door early in the morning when the owners were at work. The grown daughter of the owners had the bedroom next to hers and the breakfast was in plastic from a store. Fortunately she liked cats because she couldn't escape the family pets. It was like staying with their family and made her very uncomfortable. Not surprisingly, they couldn't make enough that way for construction costs and sold it. Years later it is still being worked on. I wonder if it will ever be done. :)

    Well water is amazing and especially great for showers and washing hair, as there's no chlorine. I lived in a cabin in the Blue Ridge and loved being on a well. This is not roughing it, and though anyplace you live with electric lines on poles vs buried will have a higher incidence of outages due to downed trees in storms, there is an electric company that restores it reasonably quickly.
    Growing up in an old house (not in the country, but just outside DC), it's super simple to understand how your electric circuits are set up. In the mountain cabin I rented, it only took tripping a circuit once to figure out which outlets were on a single circuit and what not to use simultaneously to avoid the very minor hiccup of flipping the circuit breaker to turn it back on.
    I consider myself a city person, having grown up in the DC area, but even I had to laugh at some of these "problems." We city folk can be a bit soft, at times. 😂 This place is spectacular, especially the setting.

    You should see what people are doing with vintage trailers! Right after WW2 aircraft builders shifted gears and began building trailers with steel frames and exteriors and interiors suitable for full time living. These units are getting restored with interior decor staying true to the late 1940s through the fifties. Many of these units end up in “Glamping” resorts. Or people set them up as vacation cabins and rent them out. Certainly not trailer trash!

That one is set up more like a camper, but it's still pretty nice. MANY people are going to this lifestyle, in fact I have seen people in my immediate area (I live in the south) convert storage sheds into tiny houses. It's cheap in a time when housing is already overpriced, and I commend people who decide to live within their means instead of taking on a mortgage that will break them every month. I think you'll see more and more of this, especially in an unstable economy. The toilet doesn't bother me as my husband and I are shopping for a small travel trailer and we already know what our toilet options are going to be.

    If you don’t care for the composting toilet, you could always install a septic tank and a flush toilet. Apart from that, the place is perfect for a single person or a couple, if tiny house’s living your thing. This place is bigger than my apartment!

    French presses are awesome. You put the coffee grounds in the bottom. Fill up the carafe with water to the bottom of the silver line. When you put the top on, don't push the knob down right away. Wait about 20 minutes and then push it down. Voila, you have coffee. It's pretty tasty.

    That glass object with the metal plunger object is called a French Press. Coffee goes in the bottom (the more coffee, the stronger the drink), boiled water goes on top of that - leave enough room at the top for over flow. Put the plunger in. Wait about 5 minutes. Then carefully plunge and let sit for 5 minutes. Pour your coffee.

    "a little beauty mirror to make sure you look your best"
    I don't know if you'll see this, Cash, but i've noticed how down and depressed you've been for the last few months of your videos. In particular, how you've tended to put yourself down.
    More than anything else, I'm incredibly glad that you're feeling better. Remember growth and progress aren't linear. Sometimes there's up days and sometimes there's down days. Having a down day doesn't mean you've lost all your progress. It means that you're just a person, who has troubles like anyone else.
    I like the new direction of the channel. You seem to be a lot happier with this new direction, and it seems to have helped pull you out of a rut. I really hope you keep doing things you enjoy.

    I've enjoyed following the tiny house movement for quite a while now, and it's always fascinating to see people's ingenuity on display. I've seen some genuinely stunning examples.
    What's a little depressing is that more and more people are being forced to consider it as they simply can't afford to own a home any other way. Not because they don't work hard, but because house prices are getting out of control. It's like tiny homes have become a gentrified variation on trailer homes.

    • @653j521
      @653j521 Před 2 lety

      Forced to consider it? Or excited to consider it? Are they as depressed and depressing as you, or are they happy about having options like this?

    • @ariescustom
      @ariescustom Před 2 lety +1

      @@653j521 I think my point is pretty clear. There are many people doing this because it simply appeals to them, and that's awesome. It can't be denied, however, that many people are forced into it by economics. Can you really not see that?
      And pointing out a simple fact about the state of the economy makes me depressed? Ha ha, that's troll logic, and trolling is a sure sign of depression.

    Plumbing is essential. My motorhome has plumbing, A/C, propane heating, cooking, and the refrigerator can operate on propane or electricity. There are thousands of "tiny homes" in the states. Sometimes they are called RV parks, resorts, or communities. Some are elegant, some are run of the mill, and some are vintage RV jewel boxes. No need to re-invent tiny homes.

    To use the press, put a scoop of coffee per cup, add the hot water, put the top on, but DO NOT PLUNGE until it's sat and brewed for exactly four minutes (that's the Alton Brown method). It makes really good coffee.

    Although I own my single family house, I decided to get a 2nd place at the lake. A 25 ft travel trailer is now my she shed retreat. Large windows on three sides. I stay here more than I do at my house! Water views are great since I am directly on the water. I even work from here since high speed internet is available and I am on septic tank. Minimalistic living and an over all feeling of peace. Best decision I have ever made! I do joke with my friends and say I have a NYC studio on the waterfront in Alabama!
