I spent like two days mentally thinking through all the pitfalls of full disassembly & BIOS reset vs. fixing in place, given that we had no idea what LTT would do to the system. Like was stated at the end of this video, the openness of the challenge made this the most fun and presented a ton of possibilities, which means each personality can approach with their strengths. We hope LTT keeps it open for future competitors so everyone can bring something unique to the table. Since we both knew LTT would sabotage this thing like crazy, I ultimately decided that going in blind meant it'd be faster to do a full rebuild & reset. Tons of fun! Really well produced. Biggest winner here was Cat Angels, which took home $7k + the recent NZXT BLD auction money of $2400. Check our twitter page for an update from the charity! Huge thanks to Jay & Linus for contributing! Jay is such a fierce competitor and makes it a lot of fun, we always love doing content like this with him.

That was what got me. It was obvious to me that if the rules didn't disallow it the first thing to was reset the Bios to default. There are too many settings that could be all over the place. Depending on the exact board it could have tertiary timings on the RAM. Do you really want to be going in trying to figure out if those are right?
The whole strategy was a hard reset, even for the system build XD

Yup even Thanos agrees. After Thanos time travelled to 5 years after the snap he realized that snapping away half of the universe population didn't work as well as he'd hoped, so his next plan was to nuke everything back to its atomic basics (aka bios reset the universe) and recreating the perfect universe. Steve Burke and Thanos share much in common.
Saved so much time just resetting the bios 😅 Next edition they either need to lock that or have the restore bios corrupted so it takes more time if you reset 😂

I think im more impressed with how much money Steve's raised for Cat Angels than his win against Jay.

Just watched the live stream archive, looks like it was alot of fun. Fun fact, I had been subscribed to both you and Jay for about 18 months now, and finally subscribed to LTT just because of this
Can this become a ladder style tournament? That would be amazing GN vs BITWIT? If so the kyle or lyle?
They kind of shot their load with this one. There are only so many hardware problems they can present before they start to reuse the same ones. Eventually it they would start to rehash old problems, or just have software issues which wouldn't be as fun to watch. At the very least they'd have to institute a "no bios reset" rule.

Even more insane was that he actually passed the scores without the thermal paste! He could've won even without that!
Personally, I hope this becomes a part of LTX in the future as an event. Have a tournament of troubleshooting and the final battle be a main stage event. The competition could be timed as well to account for scheduling during the convention.
