This community is not exactly a Tory stronghold.
If more of the former labour voters, felt the labour was in a better place they would vote labour - as you heard many are staying home on election day.
Anderson whether you like him or loathe him got voted in because Labour was weak - Anderson was a labour man for many years - I assume that may be a comfort to the disenchanted former labour voters in Ashford.

I once saw 30p Lee in a Commons select committee where he was surrounded by various experts and charities dealing with homelessness and the poor. They testified over the rising rates of poverty and patiently explained why.
30p Lee however, declared that the amount of poverty was vastly overstated and that the problem wasn't "as bad as everybody was making out".
His "well researched" evidence for this is that he went round his local primary school and demanded that they hand over the list of families the names, addresses and phone numbers of those families that were on income support and were getting free school meals.
Needless to say, the school quite rightly told hi that they couldn't divulge such information even if he is an MP (i.e. "sod off"), so instead he asked the school to get these parents to call HIM.
And because nobody called him up, he concluded that the the rates of poverty across the COUNTRY are vastly exaggerated.

He knows their mindset and all he has to do is spout some nonsense that appeals to their sense of being exceptional and superior to this or that group of people and they fall for it every time. Just like many of the Germans did during Adolf Hitlers time! It is called manipulation of the population. Thomas Mann Highlighted the problem when he wrote "Mario und der Zauberer" (Mario and the Magician) in 1926 after a Holiday in Italy in 1921 as Mussolini and his fascists were on the rise and the experiences he had during that holiday. Your comments on people going to university are incorrect. Universities are 'ten a penny' now with useless 'non subjects' like 'gender studies'. When these older people were in education, university was the destination for students who had ability, merit and competence, and standardsfor acceptance were higher. Too many ex graduates are leaving university now without common sense, the ability to command basic skills , and absolutely no critical thinking skills or life experience whatsoever. 9:26 “I don’t vote, I’m one of these” You mean you have no interest in something that effects you, your ability to work and gain an income… this is so typical.. and quite sad really…politicians rely on people like this, having no interest in matters that effect their own lives and livelihoods…

We view prison so strangely in this country, we should see it as a form of rehabilitation and reform than a form of punishment. Even if you think of it in terms of money, a reformed.prisoner will make a return on investment in the form of tax

@@ryanfraser167 Most crime is committed out of desperation, it's an issue created by the environment we live in. Sure there will be a tiny group of people, like unrelenting psychopaths who can't be rehabilitated, in which a life long prison sentence will be necessary. The aim isnt to punish people for doing wrong, but to show them that there is an alternative.

@@ColourfulAnimalsno it's not, it's committed by lazy ppl who want something for nothing or are psychotic. I have zero sympathy for ppl that steal to fund their drug habit, go get a job and earn some money, come up with a business idea, stop taking my money from me through legalised theft (taxation) and crime. I have no tolerance for it or softy softy ppl like you. No wonder why UK is third world. Oh and prisons don't work because ppl escape from it.

@Ryan Fraser rehabilitation doesn't preclude punishment, nor does punishment necessitate daily whipping, stretching on the racks or listening to baby shark on repeat.
The goal of the justice system should be to end up with functional, law abiding citizens, not, as is currently the case, acting as training and recruitment centres for criminals :D

The problem with modern policing is that vulnerable people, those with genuine mental health issues get charged for offenses without really being guilty. They are ill. I'm not talking about murder, but lesser charges still ruin peoples lives.
