It's funny how you'd assume rich boomers hate avocados and expensive coffee from how much they complain about them, but in my experience they consume the vast majority of both products and just don't want anyone else to have them, whereas most 20 year olds I know live on a balanced diet of Monster Fruit Punch, disposable vapes and various sugary cereals, none of which are particularly expensive

For British citizens, the drama performed by Lee Anderson is the same drama performed by Lindsay Hoyle in the House of Commons when the decision was made regarding the ceasefire in Gaza. This drama was carried out because of the election which George Galloway won in Rochendel. They think they will not let democracy run as it is because they have been too far influenced by Zionism with their money...
it's the claim that they 'speak for all of us ordinary people' that really grinds my gears.

I don't understand why people still vote in person.
I could take a 15 minute walk on a specific day to stand outside of a converted shipping container and have to wait in a queue and bring my ID to vote.
Or, I could do my vote at home ahead of time and post it for free at any of the several post boxes I pass by on a daily basis.
It's more difficult and more time consuming to do it in person.
Postal voted for years. As other contributors state - I have no idea why anyone would choose to go in person.
I started postal voting a few years ago and realised because of my adhd its far better for me as finding the mental energy to walk to a polling station is way to much when I can just have it sent to me and I can do it in my own time.

I completely agree with what you are saying about the type of people who should be private landlords. For me it should be a tool for people to have their base and rent it to cover the cost of the mortgage while they work elsewhere or do whatever and have the security of a paid for home in retirement. A society where "Landlord" is an accepted definition of a business or job is a feudal one simple !!
Why not just live in the home they've bought?
Every landlord I've ever had has a mortgage elsewhere. When they rise the rent, I try and negotiate (which seems fair; capitalism and all that). To which they reply, I'd love to, but then I can't afford MY (new) mortgage. Reasonable enough, you might say. But when renters say we can't afford to pay rent rises, we're told to cut back on our expenditure and move to cheaper accommodation. If we were to argue that perhaps they should move out of the new home they so clearly can't afford (because capitalism and all that) they'd be fucking aghast.
I have zero sympathy with landlords. Raise you rents, but don't expect me to picture you in the poorhouse.
@@mansnotbot4160 I agree with ya when it comes to having no sympathy for Landlords and I think they should be limited on the profit they can make but there are people who work over wide areas and in those cases I get the logic of buying a house and renting it as a pension asset !!

I tend to share Ava's frustration at times with how long it takes to get into the serious stuff. I enjoy the social side, but I wouldn't blame people for bailing or shutting off 10 minutes in when it not only goes on, but there's an active discussion seemingly ridiculing the idea of doing what the podcast is supposed to be doing. I'd say you could do well reversing the current format where you have the lighthearted takes, but keep focus on the actual stories you want to cover, then go into the social conversations at the end for those who want to stick around for that. The stuff on landlords and what political analysis Ava got in was excellent, so it's weird why it gets relegated to the back end rather than kept as the main discussion in the beginning.
Ive not listened to this for a while, the first 20 minutes or so of this remined me why.
Ed has always struck me as the sort of guy who has a best of Steps CD in his car.

Speaking of shitty landlords - when I moved out of my 2nd year uni accommodation we got charged an hour’s labour to replace a broken coat hook, an hour for each lightbulb that needed replacing and an hour to remove a sock from under a bed. From memory it was £80 an hour. 6 of us all lost our £400 deposit.

I thought Ava was sensible! Going to a medium and then saying regularly! Jesus. They are conmen/women does she not realise. Its all cold reading, making a miss into a hit.
One if my worst interactions with a landlord was my Girlfriend was sick so I got her food shopping, and was putting it away in their fridge, freezer and cupboard (because their house mate labelled everything to know whi had what space)
And the landlord turned out to be the dad if the house mate, came in with his own key with his kid not there
He started shouting at my girlfriend whilst describing me as That and It (like i was an unauthorized pet)
So i pointed out, that he was breaching tenancy privacy rules, could not be cinsidered a guest when not invited, letting himself in with his own key, and i have recorded the absuive way you are shouting at a 19 year old woman.
And he went so flush in the face i thought he was gonna pass out. The only other time after that I stood foot in that house was to help her move out (2 weeks later) and had him a letter from my solicitor sister.
At thja point i found out that his daughter had made a "rule" that if i used the toilet "it'd cost 20p to flush, 50p if it were a poo" i left a note for her explaining "so it was free because i didn't flush" (despite not using the bathroom)
How much has UK pop culture infected my brain? Ed started purring and I instantly thought "Would you like me to be the cat?"

A past Landlord had his own key and would let himself in to check on the place and would have long conversations with me who was trying to work at the dining table. Whilst highly illegal I didn't want to be evicted so I just made inane conversation with the tiresome old git. What was doubly bad about this though, was that this was in the middle of the first covid lockdown. 🤦

I am amazing Ava goes to a medium so much but I guess each to their own and Ed is right Robbie Williams is a national treasure and I love that he spoke about his own mental health issues made me feel a little better about my own finding out huge stars also got depressed.
