  • Red Bull Is No Longer The Fastest Car In F1
The 2024 Spanish Grand Prix has concluded, with Max Verstappen winning despite being in a slower car. The fight was incredibly tight, featuring a close race between Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes. Lando Norris is frustrated with himself as the new fastest car is the McLaren. The question now is whether we will see this trend continue, and if Red Bull can bring upgrades to regain its lead. With the championship battle heating up, all eyes are on the upcoming races to see who will come out on top.

Now we're really seeing how insanely good Max is. The last few races he has won is purely down to the Max Verstappen difference. Checo is still just a few tenths behind him, but with the field being so close Checo can't afford it, hence why he struggled in this race. Redbull no longer have the car as a failsafe

Redbull is now in a Situation they werent in for the last 3 ½ years . And with newey now gone they have to prove that they really understand these regs and turn this car around . I mean they know how to build a good car in this ground effect era obviously they should know what they need to do in order to fix their issues . And for me their biggest issue isnt curb riding but ouutright pace and tyre wear , both areas where the RB 19 absolutely dominated compared to the RB20. Redbull cant rely on a max on steroids to win them these races because at some point even max wont be able to win these races . The job is now on the team under the lead of waché . Lets see how things are going to look in silverstone where the spain upgrade should be completed. The drivers Championship is probably still in the bag for redbull but the Constructors definetely not . Redbull can be happy to finish 3rd in the constructors if checo continues with these horrendous Performances. the completion of the Upgrade in silverstone HAS TO help the RB20 or they will see a lando norris winning with a 20 sec margin . It’s clear McLaren have made significant strides in being able to compete for the championship. They have surpassed or at the least, are on par with Merc and Ferrari, works teams. McLaren have blown by AM, who appears to have stalled badly in their performance. It’s fair to say AM are not going to improve, they had that early start last year, but that’s been it. It’s really been a downward trend for them ever since. Don’t expect to see any improvement for the AM team till Honda arrives with their works engine.

"A customer team" means that some parts are bought from Mercedes (like Haas is a Ferrari customer team). But aero parts on top and under the car have a insane part in how the car performes and treats its tyres. So its very normal that there can be a big gap. In F1 the speed comes from the sum of all parts, the driver and the decisions from the team. These things are so complicated and that is what I love most about F1. Have a great day mate.

Mclaren is just Bahraini Ferrari at this point.
Lando shouldn't be doing the strat in the car. What's the point of hiring strategists in that case?
Lando's "we should have won" is such an L take.
Ruth Buscome said it best, "The race was lost into t1, another strat would not have won lando the race"
If you believed that you had the pace to win, you would mirror the strat with a small delta, you would not throw a hail mary at the race
Letting lando do the strat in the car results in you strategising for a race that exists in another reality
Granted, someone who's dad spent millions to get him into f1, living in reality, and taking an L, are probably not ever going to be his character attributes

I've been saying this, it's been like this since Miami. No arguing it, every weekend on pure pace mclaren have been fastest. They struggled in imola on firing up tyres and Canada was just a tough race. But Lando seriously should've won more than 1 of these last 5 races. If you have max/lewis/charles in that mcl, without a shadow of a doubt they would've won minimum 4/5 of the last few races, although a wise(and fast) man once said if ur mum had balls she'd be ur dad.

A combination of a poor start and poor strategy by McLaren cost them a race win imo. Obviously getting passed by GR and MV was not ideal but it was always a possibility. I don't think they had a strategy that matched that scenario. For a while it looked like they were considering a 1 stop even. At the time I said they should pit LN early and use the undercut to get him back his track position. Then they should have just matched RB's second pit stop and made it a straight fight to the end. I don't think he would have been 8 or 9 seconds behind after the second pit stop and he certainly wouldn't have had to pass anyone before getting after Max. To be honest I think he would have been ahead after the 2nd stop anyway and would just have driven slowly away to the win. I feel they don't have confidence yet in the car that it has genuine RB beating speed and able to manage tyre wear really well.
