He did win the championship for his class, but only because his nearest rival for the title missed 4 races. When his rival was racing, he took a class win in every race he entered except 1
yesterday i saw the flag in his helmet and was proud that "oh wow an indian in formula.. you don't see that everyday, great", didn't look much into it... a day later this video was recommended.
I have never been as ashamed.

We've seen time and time again champions in lower level Japanese formulae or GT not be able to make the leap to international series and do amazingly well though, that's the thing. Look at Japanese F3, F3000 and Super Formula results, see where those drivers stack up in international series however

I love how people lump Mazepin and Latifi in with some of the worst drivers that should not have even stepped near an F1 car, yet they were both pretty rapid in their junior careers.

Yes, you read that right - 10 seconds in the 100m dash, a race where the winner crossed the finish line in about 10 seconds. It turned out that Somalia's President of Athletics Federation sent her niece to race for Somalia.
It not only embarrassed Somalia but cost the President of the Federation her job after it was discovered that the woman who raced had never competed in a race in her life. So yeah, money, fame, power and political status can buy people a place in sports where they should never be.

@@ifixthingsjr oh I see, I wasn't aware that it was banter but as far as kush is concerned, I think he's doing better than last season, this season he got unlucky because of his car. He drove in Monaco and imola with broken chiassis which hampered his performance. Plus there are exceptional talents in F2 like kimi Antonelli, bearman, hadjar, martins and others who are performing great. Also to mention that it has tight competition than F2, so we see different winners every grand prix race.

I am genuinely baffled by how someone who at least knows how to drive enough to take an open-wheeler round a track, not knowing to turn the steering wheel to turn around. Dude had to be panicking or something and just not thinking.
As of now he is currently racing in Aston Martin GT3 cars in the Italian GT Championship with 3 time MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo as his co-driver.

I have no idea why parents push their kids out of karting into single seaters so soon. Karts are where you can really push and get used to feeling tire grip at its limit with little consequences. It’s also where you’re going to have the most competition with equal and better drivers. Moving to single seaters too soon will stunt your growth as a driver.
Karts are great but Karts are also driven differently to cars. For example, physically leaning to the outside while rounding the corner is a technique that only applies to karting but is essential to be competitive. Fixed axel karts with no suspension will require different driving techniques than all other racing car series.
@@deanjdk True but one year of karts before single seaters is way too soon in my opinion. I feel like you should stay in karts for at least 5 years to fine tune your seat of the pants feel for tire grip. That feel is everything in racing, after you get that you can adapt to different vehicles and learn how to pilot those. But if you aren’t comfortable at and exceeding the limits in a kart where the speeds are slow, you are going to be overly timid in a car and slow down your development as a driver. Exceeding tire grip in a car can be a huge disaster financially and physically, in a kart you can do it comfortably and not worry about endangering your whole season financially or get hurt.
I've recently learning about Danica, (Which yes she raced in a different Category) but.... this dude is much worse, and deserves the worst driver award (imo and the video also shows many examples lol)

That's pretty much it. Motorsports is expensive and not every skilled driver has a generous sponsor package that they bring along with them. There are a lot of very rich wannabes out there though, and sometimes a team just has to burn a season to take their money and let them have their fun.

But to be fair, I don't see him that far removed from many f2 and f3 drivers. It's a bit of a rich daddies boy club and there are plenty of drivers in there just circulating.
The F1 feeder series are a bit of a joke and it really doesn't suprise me this guy got the run he did. You could take a lot of drivers and paint them in a similar light, if not quite as extreme.
I remember signing Lord Mahaveer in F1 2020 My team as my teammate... bro had DNFed in 8 races out of 24, in the first season alone... Then followed by another 5 DNFs in the 2nd season, scoring 0 points in the first season and 2 points in the 2nd season 🤣🤣
The first season in My team is brutal, you’re stuck with goatifi and lord mahaveer and forced to beat mercedes alone

One thing I keep in mind, no matter how bad some race drivers are, that they made it into a racing career and the rest of us didn't.
Then again, he might be a lot better than most. Same goes for Lance Stroll. He showed some great pace in the wet, he outperformed Alonso in several weekends... we all see he's not the GOAT but I think he's seconds quicker than we CZcams heroes are... It's all relative :-) These people are an addition to the circus, it's all for the show.

The Talent remains in India due to politicians greeds for money. As an Indian, We don't claim him. The thing is, the most deserving are remaining in India because of money. The wealthy man is providing his kids everything even if they don't have the skills to compete with the other Indians itself. I don't feel bad for him, they are just VIP's and their dads are just fulfiling their dreams even if they loose.
The "WHY" is actually very simple. It's conceptually the same reason why Perez is still racing for RedBull. The very same reason why Mazepin got to race in F1 at all. They all come from countries that rarely produce high level race drivers.
In this specific case, India, 1.4 billion inhabitants, meaning, 1.4 billion potencial new fans. Meaning, money.

Some peoples dreams are not everybody’s dreams. You can go big but come home small. I feel bad for the guy at least he had determination to try. It’s always better trying than not trying. He may be the worst driver, but I give him a 10 out of 10 for confidence ❤❤❤
The really shocking thing is that even when he did win the BOSS title he only won 3 out of 14 races. As the only 'professional' driver in a field of amateur gentleman drivers he should have cleaned up, but no.
That said he does seem to be performing passably in Italian GTs. I think he's found his level now, and to have realised that top-level single seaters just aren't for him. Which is good, I'm pleased that he's worked that out and I hope he's happier now. Being a laughing stock can't be fun.

He got the test drive because he paid for it. It was the same way Sean Gelael got to test a Toro Rosso while never being in the F1 junior team. Test drives like that are basically free money for smaller teams, it has nothing to do with a drivers talent or the teams interest in putting a driver in a race seat.
