Winging it in India. An epic travel day.

  • I had a strange travel day traveling from Pushkar to Jodhpur .
I have to find the bus stand as I don’t know where it is - I walk asking a number of people for directions along the way and finally get there not sure if I was going in the right direction.
Without a map, a bus ticket, or knowing where I was going, I try to get to Jodhpur.
While waiting for my first bus a complete stranger pulls up in a car and offers to take me to my second bus for fifty rupees as he’s going the same way.
A little unsure, I decide to take his offer quite surprised at my luck at getting a cheap private ride.
Once at the Ajmer bus station I chased after the wrong bus on foot that was going to Jaipur and not Jodhpur which I think frustrated the conductor by me not hearing the name he was calling correctly.
I returned to the station to try find the right ride eventually finding the bus to Jodhpur. This resulted in a five hour ride traveling through beautiful Rajasthan stopping quite a few times along the way.
Once I arrived in Jodhpur a rickshaw driver promised he knew the guesthouse I was staying in then took me to wrong place. After asking many people for directions to the right guesthouse, a kind young woman who spoke perfect English gave directions to where we thought it would be.
I eventually get out of the auto rickshaw when just by chance the owner of my guesthouse pulls up, introduces himself, and tells me his place is only meters away.
The chances of getting a lift from a stranger in India while waiting for a bus, then being lost looking for your guesthouse to have the owner appear out of nowhere was just weird - travelers fate or destiny, or something equally great!
Absolutely brilliant travel day. It was also a bit weird.

India has two sides good and bad, what foreigners do is go to bad side like slums, dirtiest streets, dirtiest bus and train, eat at dirtiest place then complain about hygiene... And unfortunately they get millions views, so it attracts other influencers to show slums... India has good side too from ladakh, kashmir, Himachal, utrakhand, north east, kerela, goa, andaman nicobar etc but it's least visited!!! And when foreigners see good side from any youtuber then they say " Oh it's beautiful it can't be India because India is dirty'... 😂

I'm interested in experiencing a different life to what I have in the west. In the west it's clean, bright and shiny, steel and concrete...almost sterile. I want to experience all things, not just the pretty. I love all of India.
