- Joker scene
Arthur Fleck imagines himself at the Murray show
One of my favorite scene of the movie.
You could see it has a '' Could have been '' if the world would have been the way Arthur wanted it to be. Saving him from transforming into the Joker. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Saddest. Movie. Ever. Who hasn’t fantasized about a sense of acceptance and understanding from someone they deeply admire?
I hear that.
damn everyday
@Trantor The Troll You're awful Trantor.
Been there done that😔.
It's one thing for your idol to be indifferent to you, that's normal, another is to be mocked and then hated by him. That shit destroys you.
This scene broke my heart into a billion pieces, I can relate to this, wanting to fit in and pretending that your idol believes in you and cares about you.😭
Same here pal
Arthur Fleck never met Murray, instead it was the Joker. Arthur Fleck died that moment he found out that even the closest person to him also lied to him all along (not her fault, she was mentally ill, but Arthur in his troubled situation couldn't see that, he just felt that he lost his entire identity and life narrative- thank you mr.Wayne for being so empathic and throwing the brutall truth in Arthur face because you're too smug to show some empathy and to show reall decency). The Joker came to Murray with one intention: Getting the public reconition for killing the three guys, after he saw that it created a movement around his characther (evil clown). He originally planned to kill himself on live telecast, but instead he killed Murray who show no empathy to him too , so it was Murray death that made Arthur more cents than his life. Funny in the Joker eyes..As for Murray, the Joker had 0 trust in him, after he found the truth about his mother, he lost any piece of trust he had in other people (aside for his previously co-worker, Garry, but Garry like Arthur is also socially outcast so it tells nothing about the way Arthur see the "normal" society ("the system" as he called it) ) and Murray is no exception. The Joker knew Murray invited him so he tell jokes that are not really funny but wiered- well, he delivered.
I can't believe Arthur is killing people
@@TheRosatus great explanation
@dayum son Not really. Role models are quite important.
All Arthur needed was a hug.
Instead all he had was a "little push"
He need a doctor...he is crazy person I saw many man who served in war they killed man but never be like this what arthur has are crazy mind that's all it's all fantasy fucking bullshit which means he is a psychopath even the military doesn't want to have person like him a man like him should be dead in the first day of war so he can stop pretending he is something
all he had gotten was kicks and punches from society. i can relate just not physically.
Tango charlie DD-214 what does war have to do with this?i mean yeah no shit,he has mental illness,of course he needs a doctor, but he can’t even have that
@@tangocharliedd-2146 that kind of words would get you killed if you met him
Imagine your greatest idol on TV mocking you instead of greeting you or cheer you
I think I would feel just like joker not in a wanting to kill someone type of way but the fact that the person you idolized was not who they seem I think I would be disappointed
That’s why I live by the rule: never meet your heroes, it’s up in the air if their public image is all a lie or they are genuinely good people.
RemU
Yeah you’re right you’ll find most of them are jerks or busy
Safee Lane you would think of killing them, you wouldn’t do it but you would think of doing it, just like i would
Thing is Murray didn’t actually care about Arthur one way or the other, he pokes fun at his stage performance but when the meet just before they go on stage, Arthur asks to be called “Joker” because that’s what Murray called him on TV, to which Murray replied “Wait, did I say that?”. There was no real animosity coming from him, and even on stage when he takes jabs at Arthur it’s obvious he’s just doing light patter to fill in for Arthur’s awkwardness and silence.
I got a real impression that despite wanting to be in comedy Arthur was very fragile to think that being made fun of on TV was anything more than just entertainment, like when the “dream” version of Murray stops the audience laughing at the obvious “lives with his mom” joke.
This is how Arthur imagined Murray was gonna be like....
:(
IN all honesty i think its not 100% wrong. I think Murray could be like that and was a kind man in some ways but also somewhat arrogant not always considering other peopels feelings.
From his POV Joker/arthur is just a madman who killed 3 men
@@Destroyer120296 Yeah but I think thats the point. Both sides are wrong, and both sides are right in their own way. I'm sure Murray wouldn't make fun of Arthur if he knew how much pain it caused him
@@phosu5518 Exactly, I'm sure he thought Arthur understood what he was getting into by putting himself up on that stage.
:(
It worries me a little how much I’ve always imagined these kind of scenarios happening to me. Even though I’m no where near Arthur’s magnitude of delusion.
That's what makes this movie so real sad, there's a part of everyone in Arthur that we can relate to.
Yet
Wait was that all in his mind.
I have a potent imagination and one of my best friends I've had a crush on never sees me so I imagine us getting married. Kind of creepy but it helps with my depression
hayden Lively man up and ask her out.
Murray in Arthur's eyes: Superman
Murray in real life: Homelander
Damn, such a heartfelt moment, shows you that all Arthur needed in his life was love and kindness, and that if he had that in the form of a meaningful relationship in his life, he wouldn’t have gone down the dark path he did in the rest of the movie
the witchfinder general where Harley when u need her
I don’t think it’s meant to be heartfelt. It’s meant to show the deep seeded delusions that arthur is capable of
NeonTime I don’t think that was part of showing off his delusions, it was more of a fantasy. Whenever he has delusions he actually believes what’s going on in his head. Obviously Arthur knows that Murray never said tht to him, and it wasn’t made to look like he ever believed tht actually happened any time in the movie. It’s supposed to be a thought provoking fantasy
ah, well like Shakespeare said, "fucketh you marius kristensen"
Invisible hate inside me now!
So sad, really. Arthur wanted a father figure so badly, that he fantasized about Murray being precisely that person he did not have in his life. This scene is deep, indeed. Great movie.
Exactlyyyy!!! Exactly how I feel and felt man
Murray in Arthur's imagination: Keanu Reeves

3:30 is incredible to me
that facial expression screams that someone could unlock his key to happiness so easily but at every step of the way society chose to neglect him
3:21 is just so sad, I couldn’t hold in the tears with Arthur hugging Murray in sync with the music..
I really wish the audiance and Murrey were like this. This would of been better with connection involved.
It's not every day you get to meet your idol
& kill him 🗡
Same I wish It was real.
This scene is beautiful and sad at the same time.
he was so innocent at a point...honestly
I saw myself in this movie. Arthur was just a normal guy with a sad background trying to get through life but bad things kept happening to him. You have no idea how much I can relate to that.
yep me too. Some of it was a little to close to home but yeah it was brilliant.
I see myself as Arthur in a way too, you’re not alone.
That’s the reason this movie won the Oscar it’s relatable like it kinda sums up all the negative parts of our life and creates a story it technically shows the reality of our society there’s a lot more to this movie but that’s just the brief.
Muslim??
This movie is just me, this, Donnie Darko, it's the fact that this shows something really really true that sometimes when you in that deep hating life and deep shi you use it, you just go with it and be deep in your shi, I hope you're doing better
This scene brought tears to my eyes... His speech was when i really broke when i could see how all he wanted was to be accepted in society. He took pride in taking care of his mother. I dont know how many of you noticed when he said "I live with my mother" he forced a smile and gave a glance at the audience sitting there. You can clearly see he was hurt when the audience started laughing at that. I just wanted to give him the warmest hug. That's all he needed... Made me realise that's all it takes for us to be happy... LOVE...
He won't get that kind of laughter if he's in asia ... a lot of asians carry on staying with their parents even after they get married, its a way of giving back to the parents by taking care of them in return when they get older ..
saddest thing is that he really did take good care of his mother, even after everything she's done to him. I know that it wasn't really her fault because she was delusional, she was mentally ill, but she was the reason why Arthur was mentally ill as well. I think he would be able to forgive her the fact that he was adopted, but not all the abuse she caused to him. I hated her for that.
Phylyp you’re absolutely right on that🥃.
Adam Hendrickson that’s the saddest part. He immediately expected people to laugh.
in his eyes, he is the hero..in others not so much which makes this scene sadder that only in his imagination he is accepted.
It hurts because as someone who has never really had friends and deals with maladaptive daydreaming, this was painful and hit me hard. This and the whenever he dances are the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire movie.
I feel you
I used to have friends but ever since I became hoh at 13 I couldn't keep them anymore. Not easy to keep them if you can't hear them.

MP R that’s all you saw in this movie? Well i guess you aren smart enough to get what the director wanted to show

I love the face Arthur makes when he says "I take good care of my mother." It shows a sense of pride and it's quite charming like this whole scene
For real da way how da guy was saying it
2:08 the way he maintain transition of emotions (from being offended to satisfied) is absolutely marvelous
Mohamad Jaber Indeed , Joaquin Phoenix is an incredible actor!!

I searched for this scene just for that part. I was amazed when I first saw it in cinema
I was very sceptical going to the cinema (another joker movie? What special could be about it?) But he is such a great actor, I was truly amazed
When you watch this scene a second time, and you know the whole story, it becomes more meaningful, heartbreaking and deeply dramatic. Arthur imagined being at Murray Show. We see him acting like a child, talking about his "lovely" mother and being accepted and loved by Murray as father figure and that was clearly his abused child side talking. What makes it more dramatic is the fact that Arthur wasn't fully aware of that truth yet.
The part about his mother really hurts to watch the second time.
@@andrewodinson3726 Yeah.. Everytime i watch that scene I do my best to not cry..

The realization alone makes you relate to the pain.
The saddest part is that all the people that watched this joker, seeing him getting all depressed, beaten up, abandoned and get treated like trash, they see a reflection of themselves in him and even I do. This is what's happening to us today society.
Yup

Abolsutely.
The first time you watch this scene. It's so awkward it's cringe worthy. But after awhile you realize it's one of the few moments of happiness in the entire film. Even if it's all a fantasy.
I thought it was sweet and sad.
I didn't see it as either awkward or cringy. It was, and in fact still is sad and understandable.
It's not cringy, but it is definitely awkward and makes you uncomfortable because the reveal that it's an imagination comes after the scene.
Not cringe worthy at all. He just wanted to feel appreciated and loved..

As the son of a hard working single mother, this scene made me teary eyed. This along with his confrontation to Thomas Wayne. "I don't want anything from you, maybe a hug, dad"
“I know it seems strange, I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable, I don’t know why everyone is so rude, I don’t know why you are; I don’t want anything from you. Maybe a little warmth, maybe a hug Dad, maybe a bit of common decency!”
Poor Arthur 😢
When he hugged Murray, it showed that he really just wanted someone to care for him. Would’ve been a great person if it weren’t for his mother...
Doomfireblade 26 he is a good person, but he just got beat up way too much. He got hit in the head by bullies many times, and after all that happened to him, he lost his sanity.
LEGO Igor well i wouldnt really call him a good person considering what he’s done 😂.
But if it weren’t for his mother he would’ve been a great person.
Doomfireblade 26 a father
The facts about his mother seem ambiguous. Maybe Wayne did take advantage of her, and was able to forge legal documents.
OptimisticCynic715 true, but even if Arthur is Thomas’ son, Penny was still a psychotic narcissist who let her boyfriend torture her son. She’s honestly the real villain and source of Arthur’s pain

If WB were truly committed to making entertainment such as this masterpiece and not conforming to the inane drivel that's saturated in pop culture nowadays, they'd be strapped for life. It's nonsensical to think they not only didn't have enough confidence in the film's direction but also split the profits with other companies just in case it didn't do very well. Look where that got them. This was the one of the greatest movies of the decade, and they should be ashamed to think of it as anything less. More films like this please!
A good year for films like this...thoughtful, adult driven content can still make $$$...
@Dan of Steel
Even my grandparents liked it despite not being a fan of its “dark” nature. My dad kept telling me “They don’t like this kind of stuff. You’re wasting your time showing it to them” and while there was some truth to it, my grandparents recognized the high quality in the film’s writing and acting.
WB had plans...and look where that got them.
@@OptimisticCynic715 Clever reference. 🃏
That little smirk at 3:33 is honestly the most depressing things I’ve ever seen in a film in my entire life. It’s extremely relatable as we all sometimes fantasize about fake scenarios to help cope with our otherwise shitty lives
I know those eyes!! Smiling in this made up fantasy but his eyes are still grounded in reality, depressing dark reality
1:09 I love Arthur’s laugh here, sounds genuine and cute.
Is it a joke ? xD
That's the fake laugh
I think it is his genuine laugh since this is what he wants the most to feel normal
When I first saw this I thought it was real. Later in the film I realized it was fake. I think I knew that from the start but I lied to myself cuz I really wanting Arthur to have one happy moment.
Same. I thought maybe it was a flashback or something. But I wasn’t too sure
Damn! I have just realized this was just a delusion of him and never happened actually. Did it??
Elif Demir it didn’t, it was in his head... that’s why he’s all like “Murray I feel like I know you I’ve been watching you forever” and all fanboyish when he meets him in the dressing room in joker makeup cause it’s the first time for him, and his image of his idol shattered later in the film with how Murray treated him, like a joke. This sequence was too good to be true, this was how he wanted to be projected but everyone just went boo instead of aw in reality
Mr J l see now it was actually very clear but l think we wanted a happy moment for joker😫 thank you
This scene explains it all. This is all Arthur needs, attention, respect, and happiness. No one should go through the things Arthur goes through in his life. Not only affected us but realized it's his fantasy. He wants the world to be the way he likes it. Not jumped, respected, and most importantly, loved. And it's just heartbreaking this has never happened. It's not a comedy, it's a tragedy 🖤 great acting btw tho love it
Man the cut from his fantasy daydream to a shot of his broken, crooked and mangled back was mighty powerful. Shows how broken he is when all he needed was some happiness
I just realized the curtains are the same as Joker's make-up colors.

No other actor but Joaquin could bring a sense of child-like innocence which really helps with Arthur being sympathetic.
This part of the movie is actually quite heartbreaking, and resonates with most people who go through depression I think.

' I take good care of my mother'. That expression of Arthur makes me watch this video clip again and again. What an actor! A real Oscar deserving guy.

I think it's safe to say we've all had moments like this in our Lives where we long to meet somebody we greatly admire and deeply fantasize that it ends up being the greatest thing to happen to us, but when Reality strikes, it hits us hard like a ton of Bricks...
Bottom Line, unless you're prepared for it, don't meet your Heroes/Idols.
To be fair not every idol is a dick
So true Trevor so very true🥃
OddOneOut665 good point, but you can spin it in the other direction too and urge the fan to go out, meet their hero/idol, and hopefully (yes, hopefully), they turn out to be a massive letdown so that the fan can come to the realization (albeit, painfully) that they don’t ‘need’ these people, that their own inner hero, the person they were destined to become, will take them further than any outsider ever could.
My idols are all dead
The thing to remember is that everybody, no matter how famous or successful, is still human. I can't even imagine how distracting it would be to be somebody instantly recognizable like Steven Spielberg or Conan O'Brien, you could never ride a subway or bus or plane without everyone silently staring at you. You always have to be on your best behavior, or else people will call you an emotional terrorist on social media.

Damn! I cry everytime I see this scene. Remember that the Arthur you see here is Arthur as a child (in his fantasy). You see it in is words (prettier) and gestures (his hands in his back like a shy schoolkid). Frank Murray calls him litteraly a 'kid'.
Calls him a kid in the dressing room before the show, too.
True brilliant movie
Well like every boomer calls everyone a kid. And it's a huge cliché for characters to call others kid in movies, books etc
The way he was staring at the TV just stood in my head, thank for uploading. One of the most human-like scenes in the movie - you can call it expectations vs reality.
Wow…Just the contrast between his ideal and what actually happened.
Crushing.
You can't watch this movie without having a wet eye, this movie is a masterpiece there's so much to understand and to associate to the real life, it's just normal that joaquin has won the oscar
And people say Endgame is better😂😂😂
Actual real life fact for everyone :) The person who convinced Joaquin to go back to acting as a teen was his older brother River (RIP), who made Joaquin watch Raging Bull twice when River insisted Joaquin give it another go… Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro do in fact go back a long way… and De Niro actually has a bit to do with Joaquin Phoenix finding himself in a film with him! Many layers to this scene…
This movie makes me feel for him alot all he wants is people to accept him as an individual and people treat him like shit anyway it just hits home for me tbh
Perfect example of "never meet your heroes".
3:20
This music in the background made me believe that it is relatable
"I've been the man of the house for as long as I can remember. I take good care of my mother."
I don't know why, but hearing that from a 32-33 year old with that kind of personality is one of the most adorable yet touching things I've ever seen.
I left the store with some change in my pocket. I wondered what I could do with it when I noticed that there was a ambulance and the paramedics were standing over a homeless man. I went over because I was inturested in what happened to him as I got near them I heard them say “what a way to go. On the sidewalk. what?! can you imagine that?? dead on the sidewalk with people stepping over you. Maybe he’s happier but I don’t want to die with peepl just stepping over me. I want people to see me.
i just hope my death makes more cents than my life
Imagune your whole life ends on a sidewalk. I wonder how old he was and how long noone cared about him for.
Lying sack of shit, good message tho.
Drew Ramstetter Uhm, it was written in Arthur's diary.
It's like what joker said "If I were laying dead on the street you would walk over me "
2:16 Yes this is what I cry after 18 years in cinema sectory. This is an movie! Yes this is an movie not CGI shit!
The saddest scene for me.
His dream to met him will be crushed in seconds when Murray mocks him. Sad. >:,-(
Sad part is if this actually happened he probably would’ve just became a tv show host like Murray instead of joker
Well, I guess he is much more successful as Joker compared to if he ever became a tv show host doesn't he.? I mean he is adored by the whole world.
The realism. The RELATABILITY. I feel like this scene makes us love Arthur as a person before he slowly becomes the Joker. We really get to understand him. As the scene slowly comes back to reality the haunting cello score kicks in as we come back to a beaten and bruised Arthur alone in a corner. So heartbreaking yet beautiful
I agree with most of the comments. This scene is very sad and heart-touching. I myself am a big Johnny Cash fan and have thought about something similar like this of a fantasy of me hugging Johnny Cash on stage. Johnny Cash is one of my father figures along with Jesus Christ. It's so sad because Arthur just wanted to be loved and accepted but all he got was hurt, rejected, and bullied. It really makes me wanna give Arthur a big, loving hug and let him know how much God and I love him.
I think all of us can relate to this, wanting to be seen by our biggest idols and inspirations and being told by them that we are special and give us the love and attention by them and giving us everything we ever wanted is just heartwarming.
Definitely got a Kings of Comedy vibe from this scene.
This scene, this scene made me cry and bro wow that made me cry, he just wanted a dad, why does nobody talk about it? About how obvious it is he wants and needs a dad figure, it was so sad that he was so nice and has such a big heart that he was imagining that a person he likes tells him he likes him back, there is something so so pure about it and I relate to it
It is sad that Arthur was a victim, he believed that Murray was almost like a father figure, to him but when he realized that he found out how much of a shit head Murray was to him and his foster mother were to him. Well Murray mocked Arthur, and Arthur felt awful about how much he trusted a guy like Murray was. Arthur was abused and was starved as a child Sad
I'm a grown strong man but this literally made me cry cuz I can relate alot to this
3:20
Now that melted my heart
I would've hugged my parents like Arthur.Sadly, they're no longer with me.
I miss them a lot!
Sorry about your parents ☹️☹️
Same here.... Lost both my mom and my dad at aged 26, they were only 46 and 47 respectively at the time. They were great people and great to me, I'm 33 now, it still hurts, the feeling is unexplainable to people. I miss mine too!
Every damn shot in this movie is beautiful this scene alone is perfect visually and has a bunch of fantastic shots
i almost cry, i just can’t cry about movie but it’s really saddest
This scene makes me feel even more bad for Arthur than ever. Such a magnificent performance from Phoenix.
3:30 - I feel like this scene shows what true depression looks like: having a blank expression all the time, thinking happy thoughts, and smiling at those thoughts with the same blank expression on your face, but then an empty smile emerges. I feel the empty smile encapsulates what real sadness is, you imagine being happy but then your smile fades as you stop daydreaming. By far one of my favorite scenes in the movie
After watching this scene l wanted to go my dad's room and hug him to love and care me and making me feel like such a valuable thing l am. Wanted to hug him for myself and for everyone like Arthur😔
The most heartwarming and sweetest scene in the whole movie. Arthur always had this longing for love from people, even for love from a father :')
Never meet your heroes arthur
This film is about a man who needed love, whether it be fatherly, community, family, societally, or even culturally, and at every single turn he's denied it and treated worse and worse.
The saddest thing for me is that Murray is literally the opposite of what Arthur thinks he is...
Murray: that was great Arthur I loved what you had to say it made my day
Arthur: thanks Murray
Murray: you see all the lights the show the audience I would give it up an a heart beat to have a kid like you
Arthur: smiles
Both: hugs

Same😢😢😢
Was that scene real or in Arthur’s head?
@Andy Tsung in his head
Andy Tsung He was daydreaming. So it was different than his actual delusions like the girlfriend
The music made it more relatable
This scene hits hard. All Arthur wanted was a figure in his life to love him, a solid father figure to help him feel accepted and cared for. The transition from the warm hug in Arthur's fantasy below bright stage lights to the cold, blue-lit and lonely room back in reality at 3:29 says it all. His little smile too. He feels happy in the fantasy, at least in that moment. Arthur learned the hard way it's sometimes best to not meet your heroes because they're almost never as wonderful as you think they are. This is a beautifully tragic movie and I love it. Definitely one of the best comic related movies ever made.
I just wanna hug my father on last time his last words to me went like what Murray said "Everything I've accomplished in life wouldnt mean shit if I didn't have a kid like you. I love ya boy you're a better man than i ever hoped for, take care good care of your mother"
After watching The King of Comedy I understand that Murray saying he lived with his mother before his big break is a The King of Comedy reference.
This scene is hearbreaking especially know what happens later in the film
This film is definitely one of those films that I would never watch again. Don't get me wrong, it was great, but it was really heartbreaking for me. What breaks my heart more is that people do live in Arthur's condition, and sometimes many of us don't know what we can do to properly help them.
I just want to give Arthur a hug.
All he ever wanted was to be appreciate and understood and loved by people. He also wanted to make people laugh.
