I worked at Toyland from ‘90-‘92 as a bagger. So I walked that walk a million times. Brings back so many memories

My dad worked at the middle school in Bitburg air base and I was born at the hospital there. We left in 1993, so this video was recorded while I was still there. The fact that you kind of walked into one of the main stores that I remember, in fact the store where my parents bought my NES for me brings back a lot of memories. I really wish this video was longer and included more areas.

Thanks for your kind words. This video was actually shot by my brother in law who was stationed at Bitburg this year. I wish he had more video too

Hey just saw your comment. My husband was born there too, september 1992. Do you have your birth information like birth time or have any idea on how he could know this? Because I know nowadays they shut down the military base…

@@renatafeliciano1694 You'd need to go through the US department of Defense. I know if I ever lost my social security card or birth certificate I'd need to do that. Despite the base being closed they should have that info in their records somewhere in Washington DC.

Brings back fond memories! I was stationed there from 1980-83. My son was born in the base hospital there too. Delivering doctor was Dr. Biletti. We lived in the building shown behind the commissary across the street. Theres also a silver Ford Taunus in the video that looks just like the one I had when I was there!

I was SF at Spangdahlem AB, Alpha Flight 2011-2015. We would work both posts patrol and gates. Time sure fly’s. Best years of my life.

My dad was stationed there I believe 1989-1993. My mother used to work at the shoppette and my dad was a drug and alcohol counselor on base. So many fun memories! The bowling alley, the movies etc. Thanks for sharing!

So many great memories from living and working on Bitburg (2007-09) at the Dental Clinic. Doing PT on the “French Kaserne” part, getting Doner Kebabs from the shop just inside the gate, McDonalds was about 100 feet behind the Dental Clinic. I was shocked when I could stroll in the Shopette at 18 and buy Bitburger & Smirnoff for a fun weekend. Such a great place.

I remember all of this.... Many memories that I wish I could show my family... We were there from '92 to '96. Great times! Close to Toyland was a Baskin Robins and up the street to the right was the new Commissary which I worked at bringing the buggies back ;).

Was at Spang 2006-2011 and this is really cool to see it back in 92. Now I probably wouldn't want to see Bitburg.

I was there 2007-09. Lived and worked on Bitburg. Med Group didn’t have a dorm building yet so most of us lived in base housing on Bitburg right across from the Kebab Shop just inside the main gate. Great times!

I live near Bitburg, I drove past there yesterday. I only know the base as closed. As a child I always wondered what kind of buildings they were. I would like to find out more about what life was like there. Thanks for the video.

Really cool to see the bx back in 1992. I wasnt even alive yet lol but my dad got orders to bitburg in mid 2003 so by the time we got there it was a bit different. Mostly the same except that "toyland" place was replaced with the barber shop. 8 year old me stayed in that bx all the time though lol. Went to the elementary school and middle school and after school i went to the AYA and eventually the teen center when i turned 11.
