My Experience Interpreting the Papal Apology Into Michif: Norman Fleury

Norman Fleury is originally from St. Lazare, Manitoba, which is located at the junction of the Qu’Appelle and the Assiniboine Rivers, and he currently resides in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. He is a fluent Michif speaker. In July 2022, he was invited to be a part of a team of Indigenous language interpreters who translated the Pope’s apology to residential school Survivors during the live event.
