Abandoned Caddy! 1960 Cadillac Sedan DeVille! Will It Run?!?
Vložit
- čas přidán 13. 11. 2022
- I recently purchased this relatively complete 1960 Cadillac Sedan DeVille from a gentleman who responded to a want ad I had placed. He said he heard it run when he purchased it as a project "several" years ago. Let's see if we can get this 390 Caddy V8 to fire up once again! If you're interested in the complete car with a title in the as shown condition it can be purchased for $3,500. If you would like to purchase the car as a roller and we keep the engine and transmission you can take this flattop home to your garage for only $1,500! As always, thanks for watching!

You should of left it at the junk yard if all you can do is nit pick it every car or truck you get because your so perfect
Lol, some people don't get it or WANT to be pinned to the top of comments.
Yeah, what Trevin said!
@@MortskeRepair looks like another person got chosen to be pinned!
*CONGRATULATIONS!*
You're.
The whole basis of Mortske's Repair is to bring the dead and abandoned cars back to life.... Not every car is going to be perfect which is going to test this man's automotive acumen.......
You know it's a good day when Mortske Repair notification pops up.
Especially when you know puddin is only hours away, haha
Definitely
Oh you know it!!
Love the dog!
Oh the guy with the beard he's alright to.
Agreed!
Awesome video as usual Mort. I was busy building moms house and didn’t get around to watching the video first thing when it came out. Hopefully you have power back by now. Stay warm brother….
I think the caddy would be worth putting floor pans and a trunk pan in it. The rest of the body looks pretty solid.
This car is really, unique, you can work under the dashboard, while standing up. Brilliant engineering, putting that access panel in the floorboard.
Nothing but the finest from Cadillac!
Atta Boy Mortske......Just when I think you failed us(BUICK MO. HOME)......YOU GO AND TOTTALY REDEEM YOURSELF!!!!!!!!! Nice Caddy!!!!
Oh hell yeah!!! It's another MULLET MORTSKE MONDAY!!!
Thank You So Much for doing your due diligence saving the old iron, you're a gentleman and a scholar. Duff deserves a cost of living raise
Thanks much
How much more does Duff need?
@@dans_Learning_Curve at least a couple of milk Bones and maybe some bacon strips.
Dang when I first saw this I thought Duff got a makeover!
You know it's winter when the school bus drivers, the delivery guys, and the plow operators are all at the bar working the nerve to drive the routes.
Haha
1959 is my favorite Caddy design. But any Caddy is a great find. Great work as usual sir. Stay safe and warm. 😄
Thanks Aaron!
The very first car I bought was a ‘62 coupe. I bought it when I was 14 for $75. I got it running good and took it to Earl Scheib for a $29.95 paint job. Emerald green! It came back lime green. Sold it for $250!!
I worked for Earl Scheib in his home when he was very old . He died at the horse race track. He loved the ponies .
I remember seeing those commercials on tv back in the day and if you ever watch American restoration he had one of those big metal signs hanging on his shops exterior wall outside I remember seeing .
Very nice color choice. I love Emerald green. I always wanted a late 60s Buick Electra 225 in Emerald green with white interior.
Thank God it's Monday at last, hey I need my Duff fix
Those storms that start out as rain and end in snow are the worst! So much damage. Being without power for more than a few hours is a real pain too! It would be cool to see that powertrain in a project for sure. I guess time will tell. Thanks for making the video! Stay warm.
Hey man good to see you this morning mortsky
Back in the 60’s and before people stored their clothes in the attic and the moth’s would eat holes in their clothes depending on were a person lived I was born in 60’ and remember that smell well
Love watching someone who actually knows what they are doing.......I wanna learn how to fix my own cars but hopefully it's not to late for me as I'm not getting any younger
Do you have any classic cars?
Look into community education classes or a local tech school. Good luck
@@dans_Learning_Curve I don't have classic cars but would still love to learn
@@ireneswarthout1588 nothing like jumping in. Do you do your own oil changes? What are you driving now?
@@dans_Learning_Curve I drive a old rusted out chevy silverado 1500 4x4 ugly but runs good for the most part
What makes this channel so great is that Morske hasn’t gotten lazy on the videos even after he has made it big. That’s why this is my favorite, keep up the good work.
Much appreciated Joey
Wow. When I was very young, we had a 61 Sedan De Ville. A "flat roof" like this 60. Best rear window ever! Man, what a ride.
Another GREAT Mortske vid!!! 👍👍🙂🍻
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@MortskeRepair 👍👍
Great channel! Look forward to Monday for the content! My 12 and 16 hour days are over, look forward to watching you young guys making something of yourselves. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks Walt
It wouldn’t be Mortske Monday without some flame thrower action 👍.Say hello to Duffers
The fact that Letterkenny references has made it on to the Mortske channel just solidifies my choice to continue watching. Eagerly awaiting Shoresy!
haha
Currently at work but I’ll try to watch your video today after work thanks mort we love your content and jokes and your sammiches you drink
Great video as always. Personally, I like the '60 tailfins better than the '59. A definite shame about the extensive rust. Thanks for showing the ice storm damage. Most folks have not experienced this type of challenge of being in a rural area. Hope your power gets "restored" soon so you can get more restorations going. Farewell and stay warm this winter.
Thanks Brent
The Duff and Mortske show always a fun time. 👍
Son of a biscuit..! My favorite CZcamsr & I need to wait till I get off work this afternoon to watch the video. I love those 1959-60 GM flattops. Cheers from California.
Nice work dealing with the weather that you were handed! It's tough living out in the country when power goes out. The Wes comment had me rolling but I'm just glad both of you are safe.
Your not going to hurt the generator under a load for extended periods, but you will consume a lot more fuel. Most generators have a breaker you need to reset if you draw too much current anyway. Thanks for the Vid Brother, enjoyed it and that motor does sound good!
Good to know
Thanks for the info
Mortske Monday’s, best part of Monday’s !!!
In 1974 I was a senior in high school and was taking an auto mechanics class, so I bought a black '60 Caddy from the junkyard. I ended up taking it partway apart then sending it back to the junkyard. It had a 4 speed automatic, dual exhaust with mufflers and resonators, a longer than normal battery, This was the first year for the spin on oil filter and the last year for dual exhaust. Mine did not have AC like this one, but it did have the Perfect Circle cruise control. I took that unit out and opened it up to see what was inside. When I go to a car show and see a '60 Caddy, the first thing I look for is the cruise control knob, and I rarely see it. The headlight dimmer in the '59 Caddy was the Autronic Eye, and in '60 It was smaller and was called Guidematic.
I like the body lines on those old cataracts.
Rincolns are nice too.
Cool old Caddy! I remember back in the late '70s one of my favorite pastimes was walking through old auto salvage yards, and I found a '61Coupe DeVille that was that same color (they called it Fontana Rose that year). It was in great condition (of course, it wasn't that old back then!), just needed a radiator and alternator (first year) to be complete. The guy running the yard wanted $150 for the car as it sat. Alas, I was a broke college student then, and the next time I visited the salvage yard, the car had been crushed...
DAng
Yes, happy monday😎👌
Stay safe and warm😃
Kudos for doing this during a power outage Mortske!
Great that you took the time to show what a winter storm could and can do to make life miserable in winter anywhere or even in Summer with a lot of damage in a state like Florida. Glad old Cadillac runs good, you never give up when you start out to do something. A+++++ videos.
Thanks Gary
Hats off to you for continuing production with no utility power! Another great video! All 60 Caddys were hardtops but there was a 6 window sedan that had a curved top like the coupes. The trans is a 4 speed hydra-matic. Don't remember which one
Thanks for the info
Thumbs up for Mortske and Duff..........Hit that button they kept going in a crappy ice storm for us......Thanks Mortske!!!!!! Appreciate it hope the power is back for you all!!!!
Between you, Duff, and Puddin, a fella starts to look forward to Mondays 😂
I was actually really diggin' the limited lighting at the end of this video! Having only the lights over the bench and under the hood gives that huge shop the small home shop look! Kinda reminds me of wrenching on my own shitbox in the shop at the dealership after everybody else went home...a short 30 years ago! Also, you should remind your BFF Joe that you sold that Lemans in every new video...for at least the next couple months. Lmao
Haha will do
Gotta find fender skirts for that Caddy. Given the low milage, the Hydramatic should run out as good as the engine. The body, except for the floors, looks pretty good. More work would be worth it.
Another great show as always Mortske!
Oh dang! You called out Wes for his little shop accident. You owe him some fudge stripe cookies for that one. I love that you, Puddin', and Wes all throw light-hearted knocks at each other into your videos. Cracks me up.
I was not aware that options like cruise and power seats went back that far, although I was born in ‘70, my knowledge on certain things is hit and miss. Back in the day that was a nice car, I even like the original color. Those repairs under the car though, wow, quality with a capital “K”, lol 😂
You know it
Yup, you always know when you see a previous "master" mechanic's custom exhaust work, like that, your best friend is gonna be a reciprocating saw or cutting torch. Best to just cut all of it off and start over.....Cause, there is no way you can match or compete with their next level work and creativity. That classic has multiple examples of a True Master of Advanced-Monkey Engineering. Best to cut it all off, so you won't look bad next to their work? Not to mention the high quality of the previous electrical wiring modifications and custom metal fabricated tow hitch assembly. Haha! My brain lacks the proper words to describe what you showed us....
Nothing but the finest
You visited Watch Wes Work a while ago, prior to taking off for Kain-tuck-y (according to Wes). That's why I'm here. I'm glad I came. I'm 62 and like seeing the old cars worked on. I like dogs, so thanks for including yours in your video. p.s. I had a 1966 Buick Skylark when I was a kid so it was nice seeing the Buick in the WWW video - nice burnout!)
Great work under some damned awful conditions 👏 Stay safe and thanks for the dedication to getting the job done! 👍
A morning Mortske Monday and Morning Snow! How nice.
Thanks again!
Good Morning Mr Mortske and Duff from Alabama
An Epic Adventure, Man against nature! Man over machine! All the thumbs up for this episode.
Man you guys are in the thick of it as far as winter goes. 2 days ago here on Cape Cod it was 69°, but today it's down to 42°. It's unseasonably warm. 59 caddy is really cool looking car and that engine sounds pretty good. Keep up the great work and I also enjoyed the tour of town 👍✌️🇺🇲
I loved this one! Awesome weather you’re having too! Be careful out there. Hope you get it sold.
I appreciate all your work you did to get this video out. I also enjoyed your storm coverage . Installing a gem set for your farm sounds like a good video. I hope you and your community get through this soon
I agree, new generator video would be interesting. Maybe switching to a bigger propane powered one? But you would have to balance that with the demand of your furnace and water heater. We could really get into the weeds on all the options. So hope you all are warm and safe.
Thanks for showing us around town, and thanks for content is such bad conditions. Hang in there buddy
You bet
Watching this just makes me wanna get my dad's 63' caddy running he bought it the year i was born
GEt after it!
Way to Crack on despite crappy weather. Great stuff gents, be safe.
You are a dedicated host. Love the vid. Been a while since we've seen some flame. Hope you and Duff dont go too long without power. Thanks for being on the Tube
That was fun riding in the side by side, I like to see the area, it is so different from here. So much wide open space there.
Great project. sounded really good. wow seeing all what the weather did is a harsh reminder winter us here again
More Caddy. Can never have enough Cadillac's.
I have been working sh__t ton of overtime, and it is nice to come home on a Monday evening and watch your videos, I know you work hard to make them, and I appreciate that, thanks! keep up the great work!!! and Duff of course.
You're the best!
Thank you for sharing and your APPRECIATION Mortske
Thanks for watching Dan
Hey Mortske 👋, great video on the 60 cad. Good little storm there in your area. Keep warm and safe. At least you can keep your cold snacks 🥶. Have a great week 👋
You and Duff riding in the golf cart , reminds me of mower man at the old shop. Living in the south we hardly get snow but always just enough ice to snap all the power lines. Good times.
Thanks again for another great video. I for one appreciate you pushing through with the power outage going on in your area. That is a very cool looking old Caddy! Tell Duff hi for me!
Thanks Eric
I hope you're restoring this , its a fairly well optioned car , power options indicates a deville , cruise control , power door locks is an added bonus , persian sand with a white top even
better , this car is definitely worth restoring .
We don’t do restorations
Nothing like that first winter storm of the season. Hopefully you got power back reasonably soon. Great video either way. Enjoyed watching. Cool old Caddy 😎
Glad you enjoyed it
Great effort guys….looks chilly
Nothing like a 1959 GM behemoth. Looking forward to an update on this one. Nothing like Duff Dog's endless enthusiasm to keep things going. He duh man!
Great video! It is so nice of sir Duff to allow Poppy and Mr. Mortske to have a cameo appearance, at first I thought Duff was on vacation and hired a stunt double. Lol
Take care, be safe.
I needed a mental recess this morning, thx u!
Our pleasure Tom
Thanks for posting this vid amidst the power outages and storms. You are the best Mortske. And of course Duff is the best also. I do like that Caddy.👍👍
No problem!
I'm in love with this car! You always find the neatest vehicles❤️
This one is pretty neat!
Stay safe my friends! Thanks for the video, extra appreciated given the situation.
Our pleasure!
Thanks for the video under adverse conditions. We get those ice storms here in NC, but not often, about every twenty years. I hope someone sends you a Duff sign. I’d vote for him.
Great video Mortske.... Thank you for sharing. Have a great evening.
Same to you!
Looks like you and Duf had a tough week with the weather, getting parts etc. thanks for getting the video out!
Our pleasure!
Thanks for the extra effort good show. That's a good engine dump the body. Thanks for the ride to town. Here in brainerd mn we got the same weather except for the power thing . Have a good week. Glad I have a wood stove
Thanks for another great Mortske Monday. I love old Cadillac's...she's pretty crispy though. Good luck and thanks to everyone that brings us this show🍺🐾
Thanks Stu
Great job with this! The ice storm and power failure was a minor interruption, but the show went on. I agree with the lower control arm for the rear axle needing to be addressed before going for a drive. I have never seen one that rotted out.
I wish you the best possible luck in this storm Mr Mortske, thankyou for going thru all that trouble to make us a video.
Thank you kindly
Best will it run channel out there!!!!
Thanks Philip
First class videos, really enjoy them. Nice to watch a real enthusiast with some great skills. Us old school car guys are getting rare now
Had me dying when you called your Sawzall a dewaulkee haha 😄 love the channel. Keep up the hard work!
Love the classic Cadi's ! I love that 38' Ford too !!
You’re heartier than I. This town shuts down for a little ice. God be with you Mortske. It’s only Nov.
Sweet motor for a old school hotrod build. Appreciate the time and effort put in for this upload couldn't have been easy under the circumstances
Thanks Phil!
Happy Mortske Monday! 👊🙏👍💪
What amazing cars! Can't believe all the options on that thing, back in 1960? No way! I hope you get your power on soon. Stay warm and thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching Brad
Good morning from Fort Worth.
My wife and I got a big chuckle when you said “ once I get my belt undone, hold on laddies “ @ 19:30. lol 😂
I’m classy like that
Good morning Mort, cool old Caddy, man I was looking forward to doing some snow-nutts, lol. Just having fun. Great program my friend. Best of luck with getting the power back. Take care and stay warm. 👍👍👍
Thanks Terrence
Got to love those old caddy’s I had a 61 conv. In high school sweet machine ! Good luck on picking up more ! Thanks for the vids JW
You bet
Had a 61' Buick Invicta many many years ago... them cars, front passenger parking light in one area code, back drivers taillight in another. Great video! Beautiful car! Always looking forward to what's next! Blessings and respect!
Right on
We had a ton of Cadillacs from 1957 to 1975. I loved the 390/429/472 powered Caddy. The 75 had a 500 and it ran decent for a low compression engine. I have a Honda 6500 watt generator that I converted to propane for cheap money and use it for water and heat. I also have a Honda 2200 watt that I use for the tv/internet and refrigerator.
You gotta steal some signs tack it on the floorboard that OG color is beautiful stay safe brother and lord duff, loving your videos.
That engine did indeed sound pretty strong. I would sure like to get my claws on it but my wrenching days are pretty much over. Love your channel.
We had our first snow of the winter yesterday. Not enough to stick as it's still been into the 60s as of Saturday, but it rained like crazy all day and was really windy. Then I woke up yesterday and it was into the 30s here in Western Pennsylvania.
Hello sweet. Loving thoughts from you “Granny”, MamaCard. Late, but will never miss your video.
Getting a Cadillac ad in the middle of this video was entertaining!
Great show I’ve been watching for a while now and love the commentary and video ( sling shot engaged) so on it’s great
Thanks for watching
SemiNew to channel, I’m hooked. Loving all the content, humor, and skills… Duff steals the show.
Much appreciated John
