Succulents and Cactus Shopping in California (Mariscal Cactus and Succulents Nursery)

  • We went on a weekend vacation in California and I found a cactus and succulent nursery located in Fallbrook, California. Come plant shopping with me at the Mariscal Cactus and Succulents and see my small plant haul at the end of the video. I could have purchased more but my purchase was restricted to the small space left inside our car, with all our luggage.

    Oh ! You answered the lithops question. That’s expensive. But better than one would pay online . People charge so much for just one lithops . You got some nice ones 😀

      I was lucky to find one with its flower open. I wish I could have stayed there longer. I did not get the chance to see all the greenhouses.

    Ganda nman ng mga cactus Dyan sis. Me and my husband really love flowers. Kaya Yung bahay namin Daming bulaklak hehe Kaya lang minsa nakakatamad alagaan hehe. Salamat sa tour sis sobrang dami tlaga nila. Super Ganda. God bless

      Salamat din sis for watching from Germany! Cactus is one of the easiest to grow because you don’t have to water them often. Perfect kapag umuuwi ako sa Pinas, I have somebody come to water them only once every 2 weeks! Pwede mo sila kalimutan and buhay pa din sila! Hahaha. 😉

    Fallbrook has the best nurseries! They are about an hour or so from me, although I do not get over there too often. After watching this I have to make a trip over there this month!! Thanks for sharing my dear!

    OMG Anna, I wish I was there and had the opportunity to also view and purchase the plants. Quite a number I would have loved to own like lithops and totem pole. Nobody wants to sell lithops here as they said it was very difficult to care for and usually ended up dying. I love your red echeverias. In fact your haul was an excellent choice. 😍😍👍👍

      Oh Molly! I wish you and all of my other plant friends here on CZcams can go with me in that nursery. It was like a big mall of desert plants. We would all go crazy! 🤪Unfortunately, the lithops were too pricey. I am not even sure if I can keep them alive. Hahaha.

      @@CactusCaffeine Hi Anna, I just wanted to mention that the rattail is another plant on my wish list. I've been trying to find it since forever. Yunno how I've mentioned that I love hanging succulents and I've been trying to search for that for so long. I'm so envious that you can get one. I hope I can find one soon. But like I've said, our nurseries here always have the same types on sale.

      The rattail is my first hanging cactus. I can’t find hanging ones especially epiphytes in Nevada either. Oh, do you have epiphytes? That would be great for your climate.

      @@CactusCaffeine Yes, ephiphytic plants are great for our climate but they need to be shaded so they're under my orchid shed. I've "dancing bones" and some others. One day I'll do a video on my small hanging succulents collection. 😚😚

    Your son is so handsome! That nursery looked like cactus heaven. I especially liked the flower on the Echinocerus pentalophus that you chose.

      Thanks! I had to edit so many scenes because my son was everywhere. Lol! I wish I could have stayed longer and check all the greenhouses. But we were pressed for time.

      Yes, Carl it was a big nursery. I was not expecting that from the outside. Unfortunately, I did not get the lithops as it was too pricey. I wish I can go there with all of you my plant friends. We would all go crazy in there. 😄🙃

    So jealous you have that nice nursery close enough to visit. I know what ya mean about being overwhelmed and needing to stop filming to focus . There’s no way I could even film if I were there . I’m that person who’d spend 4-5 hours there picking through every section for the most perfect ones . 🤣. I have a nursery that’s 1.5 hours away and not even 1/10 the size of that one . And I still spend hours there cuz they have so many beautiful things to choose from 🤤😍

    That nursery is so cool! I love lithops.😍 There are so many cacti and the flowers are gorgeous. You picked out an awesome variety. I would love to visit California one day. Thank you for sharing.     Wow that place was huge, so many plants. I think a place that size you really need to spend the whole day there lol. Shame the lithops weren’t able to come home with you Ana, a bit on the expensive side. Nice little haul though, love the flowers on the Echinocereus and a bonus finding two, pollinating time 😂 Great video as always, thank you for taking us along with you.       Places like that, a whole day is not enough 🤣 it’s amazing how you managed to stop yourself from taking home more plants. If Daz and I went there, we’d have problems taking home plants we’d purchase 😬Expensive lithops too. Mas mura sila dito. 😉

    Great nursery. You will have to visit northern San Diego county again, as there are quite a few nurseries that specialize in cactus, succulents and exotic xeric desert plants.

    Wooow ang ganda dito ma'am.super andami nilang selection. I even started planting CNS and to my surprise I find it very relaxing. I sort of took over my mom's mini garden after she passed away a few months ago.but I love them in a way I feel connected to my mom.

      The lithops were expensive for their size. I am not really keen on lithops. I just want to try my hands on them but not for that price. 😄 Thank you George for your support, always.

    How massive, a whole day needed to check it all out on that Succulent nursery (cacti are included in the succulent group). But I loved the very large cacti outside the nursery. And I love the succulents you bought. They will grow fast and happily for you. Thank you for this video.

      Indeed I needed more time to look at everything. But we had other plans that day so we were in a rush. They had so many big specimens in there. Their backyard had large plants that were growing just for propagation.

      @@CactusCaffeine hello Ana! This cactus Is Best grown in shallow wide pots, it is very resistant to high temperatures and long periods of drought, it likes The sun and extremely hot climates, changing its hue to a brown, reddish color.
      In semi- shade it will rarely flower.
      The substrate prefers more mineral than organic and irrigation Is like all cacti.
      It Is not an epiphytic cactus.
      Normal gift
      😀

    I liked all of your selections. I have been looking for a rat tail cactus. I have a peanut cactus, and it has done quite well for me.

      Thank you. That rat’s tail cactus went into a growth spurt this summer. It put out many new and long “tails”. 🙂
