- One Owner, 1982 Peterbilt 359 - Build by Pocono Peterbilt for The Great American Truck Race at Pocono International Raceway as the Pace Truck. Equipped with a NT855 Big Cam 3 Cummins, 13 Speed, 3.90 Rears, on 24.5's with an extremely rare LivLab sleeper (Only 21 ever made).
That truck is nuts. Rigs from the 1980s always make me feel nostalgic. You can justifiably take pride in a truck that the State of California won't even allow you to operate within its borders.
I havent seen a actual livlab. Back when i was a teenager i saw a ad for the livlab in a trucking magazine in the late 70's. This rig sure is sweet looking btw.
Thank you, different for sure but extremely practical.
"Living on the road my friend, was gonna keep me free and clean". Awesome rig!
For a truck that has been sitting for 15 years, it looks to be in excellent shape. Of course, being garaged will do that. Still sounds good too.
Yes! It is in excellent condition. Updated video coming soon !
I bet none of those EV fucking things would stand the test of time and this truck for America had barely any rust on her, Australia is a little bit kinder to metal unless you live right on the coast.
@@blackIce504 I always say, where will these new trucks be in 40 years? Plastic, emissions, batteries all shot. Junk!!
@@ThePoconoPete yeah that was my point most new stuff is made to break or just stop working.
Yup, only needs the dust knocked off her.
Oh, and an air freshener.
Beautiful old rig. love the camper style sleeper.
LivLab! Before trucks were allowed to be longer in length
Someone must have been "Babysitting" this Beauty but still a great tribute to just how things were built in 1982. Definitely a great find. Without a trailer, this thing is almost twice the length of a pickup. Imagine trying to drive this beast by itself in a congested downtown city. Appears ready to drive right now. Great. Thank you.
Yep! Great shape and fun driving around!!
Even better in 1962, 1972 too many epaulets crap starting
Probably never seen one LoL 😆😂
Funny what one will do to feed the family, some just, naturally know how to do that, alongside what they dig, I'm envious
It was weird to because Art Arfons traveling show was about 5 or ten miles ahead so I thought it might be part of their convoy which was impressive going down the road.
I remember seeing this truck on the cover of a magazine in the early 80's that is a great piece of history can't wait to see more of it congratulations on your find 😎👍😎
We have all paperwork and old magazines too! Thanks!!
I’m 58 love trucks and never seen one of these, I learned something new. Love the 359’s over any other Pete models. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!!
I am from the UK always love the look of the older American truck's. First time i have seen a livlab look's sweet nice barn find.
U have to see the movie Maximum overdrive!!! If u haven't!
I am from the UK also & worked on all the American trucks like this down in Aussie at a Cat Dealership, not a patch on European trucks, Scania, Volvos, MAN etc years behind
What an amazing find....looks like money was no object when it was built... and probably very little work needed to bring it back to pristine again..look forward to more videos .
That rig looks AWESOME!!!! I swear to god if I had the money to buy this and restore it this would be my mobile home! The more I look at it the more I would adapt a truck bed on the back! Lmao this beautiful truck has so much potential
gotta love a good old 359 Peterbilt with that classic corvette dash ive only seen pics of this truck back in the day im so happy she's still out there serving and so well kept the livlab sleepers there's only a couple left now a days defintley a piece of trucking history!!
Thank you!
Sweet truck. Someone put a lot of time & effort into that pinstriping. The camper is amazing.
This has to be a "ONE OF A KIND" truck!
One of a kind and 1 of 1, indeed.
Someone made a wise decision to keep it covered and cared for even though it wasn’t being used.
That’s a rare bird for sure.
Can’t wait to see it cleaned up.
Thank you for watching! Hope to hear from you next week when I can make another video.
Why wouldn't they
Gonna need more vids showing the inside in detail. Very, very cool.
I’ll work on that this upcoming week and have a new video this weekend. Thank you!
My god, I didn't know a tractor could be built like that, no expense was spared and it shows! For it's age it's in great shape too. Hope it gets back on the road, it would be a nice interstate travelling rig with a big 5th wheel trailer of some sort. What a beast!
Show truck for now!
Not an oil leak one Is what truly impressed me period don't know if it's just from sitting or just a very well built motor.
But in any event I did not see any oil accumulation on under chassis
@@davidsanders6957 she took great care of the truck and was a certified diesel mechanic.
@@davidsanders6957 It sounds like it wasn't run hard and used too much, remarkable find.
@@ThePoconoPete A show stopper.
Pls make more videos about this truck, it's amazing! What a find.
How can I have never seen one of these. Super cool.
Only 21 ever made!
That truck and the woman driver was featured in American Trucker Magazine. She hauled oversized freight and the truck was black with the same stripes. Awesome video. Hope to see more.
Yep! I have a few magazines. She kept everything
Not certain that’s the same truck, I knew Debbie and Don Hoffman from Michigan, when they relocated to winterhaven Florida it was still Black with Blue and Red stripes. Was still in great shape so I don’t think her husband Don would’ve repainted it
@@jamesbagos3459 same truck, I have a few magazines too. She was hoping we would repaint it black
She was in American Trucker Magazine
This thing belongs in the worlds largest truck stop museum in Walcott Iowa
They didn’t want it! “We don’t need anymore 359’s”
@@ThePoconoPete wow, that surprises me a lot
After seeing the “World’s Largest Truck Stop” on a History Channel feature about 12 years ago, I decided to stop in to check it out during a trip down I-80 to Colorado. I cannot believe how disappointing it was… it was barren, nothing really wowed me, there were two semis in there tricked out in lights and that’s it.
@@30AndHatingIt yep! Not what it used to be
One of the coolest RIG'S I've seen in a long time 😈🤘
Old school cool!
I remember loading with and running across New Mexico with a young lady on Bennett Motor Express a long long time ago. It looks like the same truck. Bill
Hey Bill! Same truck! Just bought it from her in January of this year
That’s weird they repainted it, the original Black was in good shape. I lost touch with Debbie and Don when they moved to Florida from Michigan.
@@ThePoconoPete Congradulations. She was such a nice person from what I remember. I think I have a picture of her, the truck, and mine way back near Ruidoso, NM on that trip I was talking about, and will go back through all my old photo albums of the day and let you know. Take go care of the old gal(truck haha) Bill
@@billtodd6509 that would be cool to see! I’m going to see her again in the next few weeks for pictures
@@jamesbagos3459 she had to paint it white to haul for somebody
Hell of a rig, good luck 🤞
Oh man!! I have Heard of theae from my granddaddy he owned a huge trucking company in ann arbor Michigan when I was a kid (mid 80-early 90s) and my uncle always talked about them. Never seen one in oersot. They're so cool.
Thank you! Owner was from Michigan!
I’ve been drooling over this rig for a while on marketplace, funny to see the thumbnail pop up.
Yep! It’s a beaut!
Dammmmm, she's tall ,long and DAM Beautiful.
13’4 high 😀😀
That is fantastic and it was kept under cover 👍👍🇦🇺
Looks like I was hardly used
Greetings from Maine..... That Peterbilt is a great find. Enjoy her..... Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words. See you around!
15 Jahre und der Truck läuft, SUPER!
Started right up!!!
WOW, man,
That Tractor Is NICE!!!
SUPER NICE!!!
Thank you for knowing the difference between a TRACTOR, and say, ANYTHING else
Nice Pete . 🛣 👍
' Bring 'er back no matter what it takes '
keep on Truck'n. 🤠
@@davidsanders6957 well that's what it is!!
That's a classic survivor, I would be tempted to put it on the road and work it, but it really is a museum piece.
Tempted every day BUT the “what if something happens” comes into mind!!
Absolutely a gem!!
Thank you!!🇺🇸🇺🇸
I can’t believe the shape it’s in. Pristine find.
Would you please show the world how you fixed this bad ass truck up it's one of the coolest on the planet thank you..
Hopefully this weekend! Been raining here
What an amazing truck, would be great to see this beauty back on the road if possible.
I’ll have an updated video this weekend. This was our footage from January.
Back in day rigs were interestingly built to say the least... and they usually had a cool paint scheme. I remember in 80s going with my dad on trips and headliner of his rig was like stars sparkling when I climbed in, but not sure of that material they used on the headliners. His truck had cool scheme with purple stripes that sparkled like it had been mixed with flake/glitter... he had some many amber exterior lights, the truck was magical to a kid like me. They don't make em like they use to honestly.
Nice!!! Old trucks are here to stay. The new ones are trash
What a sweet old gal. Can't wait to see what your plans are for her.
Thanks!!!
@@ThePoconoPete welcome
Plan's ?? Only plan is clock miles, feed the younging's & keep Momma happy
@@davidsanders6957 no kids no wife, just a special Peterbilt to show LOL
@@davidsanders6957 ha you didn't think you really knew did ya ha ha!!!😜
Big Wow I was 14 years old and at that race. Many years later the only thing I remember was the huge wreck in turn one nearing the end of the race. Used a crane to pluck one truck that went through the wall outta the trees after the races end. Very Cool find
Yes! Awesome!! Truck was originally black with the flattop sleeper. I posted pictures in the “community” tab. Thanks for sharing that 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bro .. this truck could star in its own movie..i can drive!🙋♂️
The coolest PETE,I ever seen.i was 20 when it was new, awsome.
This truck would have made a great Monogram or Revell plastic model!! I remember putting one like this together in the late 70's.
Indeed! Never seen a model with this sleeper though
This is what it means to touch history🙂
It’s a work of art
Wow, that is a nice Peterbilt
Thank you! Check out our other videos of it!
Now that's what a man wants. House on wheels and a job all in one. O if the family wants to go come on let's go. 😊😊
One beautiful truck! I would love that for parades....

Two very beautiful trucks.
WOW, what a find!!
I've always had a fascination for LivLabs. I saw 2 of them on the road back in the early 80's, but haven't seen one since.
Please put up more videos showing the interior for those of us who've never had the chance to be inside one. (that 2 second snap shot simply wasn't enough!! LOL)
😀😀 wasn’t planning on making a video. I’ll have one this week!
This is one of the best looking trucks I've ever seen
Not a trucker or lorry driver as we say in the uk but this is a work of art .very nice .
Thank you very much!!
The Best design for a Sleeper. Bunk over the Cab.
What a great looking truck
cool old truck , can't wait to see it fixed up ready to roll.
Hopefully I can get a new video this week. Rainy here!
Both are beautiful. Tow truck is gorgeous
You are going to have to give us a full talking walk around and some history going by the comments. Certainly looks well preserved and a great find 👌
Might have to just interview the original owner 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That is a beautiful truck and love that sleeper that is totally awesome!
We agree!
Tim Gentry would love that sweet ride. In 25 years of trucking I've not seen one of these. Very cool old truck.
Thanks! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Who cares what he would like! This isn't his channel!
Absolutely gorgeous machine❤❤
Thanks!🇺🇸🇺🇸
What a cool old truck. Hopefully it has a bright future so others can see it on the road again.
Show truck !
I'm not a Peterbilt fan, but that is beautiful and in great condition considering it's age. A little tlc and a bath and it could be a perfect show truck.
Just showed it a few weeks ago at 75 chrome shop!!!
Totally love the unique features on the rig! Very cool for sure! Love it! ❤❤
I wish that truck was mine, I would work and live in it until I retire 😊
Cream of the crop labor of love, top of the line right there wow
This is so awesome would be so cool driving around
Check out my other videos, I have a few up already of it driving around
@@ThePoconoPete cool. I'll have to check your other videos out. Oh and i drive trucks too. Ive driven different types of rigs but now i drive a 24 ton v-flow hauling asphalt 8 months of the year and then in the winter i do otr pulling dry vans.
@@BillyLintzenich-wf7sk 24 tons! Nice! Keepin Busy
@@ThePoconoPete yes sir. I first got my cdl when i worked for a drilling company. I was a drillhand so i would be pulling a lowboy with either a drill rig or a support rig. Sometimes we would have to spend 3-4 weeks at a time up in Canada.
This is a perfect truck just needs a matching trailer
Ok that's actually bad ass! I would happily live in that. Awesome.
Back in the day I remember seeing two of these. One was leased to Bekins Van Lines and the other one was leased to C & H Transportation pulling their yellow flatbeds, drop decks and lowboys. What was interesting about that one was the dark brown metallic paint. It was a Freightliner suicide cabover.
Popa's pad when mom's mad !! LOL GOD BLESS YA ALL
😂 definitely a get away vehicle!!!!
😂😂😂. Best comment so far
That is a very rare rig, it need to be restore back to original glory
Indeed!!
What a work of art. I love 359s, especially the later years with the square headlights. Damn good looking trucks.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
One Sweet, Elite, Pete. Neat!
I absolutely love it!! Kudos, friend, back when rigs had taste 💪👊💥
Ridin’ in style 🇺🇸
Very special truck ❤
I was like , wait that area looks familiar lol , im in Ocala , hope I see it on the road sometime!
We were just at 75 chrome shop truck show. Trucks here off of 301. Going to chrome shop this Saturday
Dang, that's gotta be worth some coin. Sweet find!
@ 7:01 The flatbed passes, @7:05 You hear "Lookit' that Boy!" on the radio. Not pos. but that is how I heard it! He saw this rig and recognized its greatness! 👍🚛
First one to mention it! Nice. That was crossing I-4 heading to 27 towards the Florida turnpike.
This is like finding a 1976 eagle transtar 2 in76 livery!!
Very rare!
What a Beauty !!!!! WOW WOW !!!! i WANT TO TAKE HER FOR A SPIN , Thanks for sharing .
Come for a ride!!
Very Cool Truck
This is cool truck
Thanks!!
Nice truck, its hard to believe that it Been sitting for 15 years . Old school always rules great video
As a kid, my dad was a truck driver . I used to sit in the passenger seat and day dream about my dad getting a truck like this. I wouldve sat on the top watching the road the whole time.
Hey! Me too! This is why I bought a truck. Just happens to be this one! You’ll get one one day
@@ThePoconoPete I hope not haha. Trucking was his passion, not mine. I'm a custom fabricator, which I also learned from him. If trucking was the same as it was in the 90s I'd take it, but nowadays it's a hard game that I'm not interested in playing
@@csmith6237 this is just a show truck, we aren’t into trucking either. Just a fun hobby, like buying an expensive Harley
Don’t think I would’ve bothered with the tow truck would’ve got me a temporary permit I enjoyed every minute of that cool
Tempted but airlines were shot. Tow truck had to supply air and keep up with it.
Be the first one on your block to own one !
Magnificent rig❤
WHAT A BEAUTY,!!!!!
🇺🇸🇺🇸 American Pride right here
PIG PEN WOULD BE JEALOUS AS HELL !!
AH AH I MEAN

👍👍👍👍👍
I had this one, back in the days....... in Lego I now recognize 🤯. Lego Model Team: Highway Rig - 5580. Didn't now it was based on this Peterbilt. Really impressive truck by the way
The Stamped Gauge Covers are Sweet
I for get where but the old man back in the day let me look around in the truck. Brings back memories of when trucking wasn't for sissies and flip flops. Hopefully you'll figure out what the tick is and we'll see ya at the truck shows.
Tick is normal. Just the air compressor. Just sat a long time
I hear ya on the compressor. Listening to it on the video with headphones sounds like the overhead (rack) might needing to be ran.
@@markgilbert790 the air dryer knocks too from the compressor lol a little loud but goes away once it purges
WOWEE TO TAKE A TRIP IN THIS MACHINE WOOD BE A DREAM
I remember seeing the liv lab on the road when i trucked back then, seemed well done ,good looking and ahead of ots time
Indeed! One owner truck
Very nice LivLab Peterbilt! These must be very rare too.
Only 359 with a livlab sleeper!
ein Traum ! Nice, and a lot of work alone under the truck 💪

It had to be best LivLab condition ever
Yes!! We love it!
now thats a TRANSPORT TRUCK
Just caught your channel going to have to check more of it out 👍👊‼️💯🎯🇺🇸🇨🇦🤟🤙😍
Will have more videos soon
I've always wanted to find something like this and turn it to a motorhome when i retire in about 10yrs. Found a good deal a few years back but i just couldn't swing it at the time.
Must be LOUD in the over-cab sleeper with the unshielded exhaust pipe right outside...what a colossus! I want it! Put a nice dump body on it and have the BEST dumptruck EVER!!
Not loud at all!
