LivLab Sleeper: Part 1 of Rebuilding - Peterbilt 359
zhlédnutí 28KPřed 21 dnem
Part 1 of working on the LivLab Sleeper. The windows up top were left open when driving by the original owner which led to water damage. In this video, we will be removing the wood floor in the bunk, as well as the carpet and insulation and replacing it. This will give us a solid floor to then work on what is damaged around the windows.

Peterbilt's, Jake Brakes AND a Kenworth?!?!
I would love to take it on a long run!!
Come along!
What’s that tikking sound from the peterbilt
The air dryer
This has to have been a Transformers-promo. OwO
I have never seen a sleeper/coach cab like that. What are the plans for it's future life.
Not sure yet. I’m currently working on a few air lines and working on the water leak I have in the sleeper
Looks like a Scania from 1950s🤣
I can’t tell you how satisfying and refreshing it is to just see a thorough video of a vehicle without a bunch of annoying ad lib narration and pointing out the obvious.
LOL! You’re the first one to mention that. When I made the video, I said “most people don’t want to hear me, they just want to see the truck” lol.
Amazing rig, any issues with the wiring or hoses from sitting? Dry rot or mice?
No mice anywhere, fortunately! All wiring inside the truck and outside is perfectly fine. The only issues we had were the airlines. Airlines from the transmission were SHOT. Airlines in the rear for the brakes were SHOT but supplied by the tow truck enough to get it home. Once we got it up here, we replaced those lines first, as well as the transmission lines, all new. Now working on the sleeper!
Please don't take the sleeper off it!! She's unique! Never seen another one only in pics. Looking forward to watching the restoration 👍
Thanks for the comment, I take all of the thoughts seriously. If I did, I would put it on another 359 to make it look exactly the same but that is a BIG job. $$$$
@@ThePoconoPete she's a piece of American trucking history and needs preserving even if you don't like the sleeper🤣 You won't see another at a show I bet!
@@rolandgott4275 I secretly love it. So ugly that she’s pretty kind of relationship. I just have to add my own touch to the truck.
Great truck and so original! A real national treasure right there.
Maybe consider putting the fake leather padding up in the sleeping area instead of carpet everywhere? A lot easier to clean and less smelly in the long run.
Why fake when you can put real? 😎😎😎
@@ThePoconoPete Even better!😄
Hard decision to make,But hey it's yours to do as you please driver
Indeed… cool truck either way
Made in America we know how to make Trucks.
I wonder if it'll fit under bridges?
13.4 it sits at
I'd leave that truck like it is as a time capsule, that sleeper is one of a kind, & those fog lights with the louvers in them are old school cool & sought after in good shape. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, It's your truck, But you'll never find another one like it, or as cool & in as good as shape as that one. But I'll continue watching the progress no matter what direction you go with it.
I appreciate the feedback either way. I like the fog lights just not the amber marker lights lol I go back and forth everyday on what to do. A lot of benefits to a sleeper like this. Has everything someone needs to travel.
@ThePoconoPete It's definitely nice & very usable & one of a kind. But I'm here to see the progress either brother.
Too bad you did install rockwool. It would have made it quieter
I still can. I didn’t screw down the floor yet. Just through cheap stuff in there to work on the sides. I appreciate that thought. May do that when I get to that point!
I love the colors on that truck. It reminds me of the 1976 trucks, like the Bicentennial Kenworths in 76.
Man that thing is awesome 1 bedroom apartment on wheels
That's an Amazing truck!! I'm glad to see you bringing it back to her original glory, Great truck & video! Thanks for sharing & can't wait for the next one.
Obrigado 🇵🇹
🎉🎉🎉I see u and this what I was supposed to do????,🎉🎉
Wouldve easily earned a cameo spot in the 1986 movie Maximum Overdrive! A majestic beast of a rig😎👍
That would’ve been cool
That looks like the splitter on an air 4X4 or a 12 speed Spicer?…… the 12 speed spicer is a little old for that truck.
13 speed!
@@ThePoconoPete ….. what happened to the hockey puck splitter?
@@BillHunclebuncle I still have it. Wasn’t the hockey put one. It had the “D” Shaped knob
I hear a bad rod. Not good.
Air dryer
@@ThePoconoPete I saw that in the third video. Thanks for the heads-up. Beautiful rig, btw.
@@dalesmth1 we bought it without even having started the truck so we took a chance!
I know Mrs. Debbie personally and I'm so happy to see this truck. Liked and subscribed. ❤
That’s awesome! She’s a great woman
@@ThePoconoPete she truly is great people.
@@MOTORvatedCARnage well I’m in wildwood if you’re not too far away
What is it worth? Why did they only make 21?
Was told the truck was worth over $100k - they only made 21 because they (the US Government) allowed trucks to be longer in length around the same time. So sleepers could be longer instead of having to go UP
@@ThePoconoPete Thank you so much for the reply. Given the rarity, 100k is not that crazy. And interesting, I didn't even know there was an era of them having to go up (still have a pretty fresh interest for trucks and trucking).
@@IamAW it was a very short time frame these were built, obviously. Only this one, the prototype and one in NY are still around.
Whats that knocking sound. That clack clack. Not being a hater. Im not a diesel guy. If it was a 5.4 3v ford i’d have ya covered. Lol. I heard the ssme sound in the video when u first picked up the truck. Sounds like rod knock.
It’s the original, old school, Air Dryer. Normal with these Cummins motors back then. I have to upgrade it, but, have to change all the airlines with the new one so I haven’t done it yet lol
@@ThePoconoPete ahhh ok. 10/4 🤜🤛
Nobody wanted to see the Livlab. Thanks for skipping that whole part.
I uploaded videos of it. Wasn’t my intention on making a CZcams video of the truck when buying it, which is what these videos are from.
What an huge difference a little protection from the elements makes.
Indeed! And not washing your vehicle with unfiltered well water!!

Thank you for watching friend!
Nice truck but my heart still goes to a Kenworth K100 AeroDyne!
OOOOOh man ! Something about them Cabovers I don't like lol
Супер. Шикарный трак.
Wish USA still manufactured cool stuff.
USA has a little too many regulations right now for that lol
This brought a couple tears to my eyes. I’m the granddaughter of the original owner. Her and I went all over the US in this truck. I was even potty trained in it. Lol took me back to my childhood, laying in the sleeper and looking out the window when I woke up to seein the US through the window in the sleeper. All the miles, sitting in the seat up front and singing to “rubber duck” and “On the road again”. She even had the original cell phone on a cord in the beauty. As I grew older, I got the privilege of tirelessly cleaning and polishing her, inside and out. It was my grandmothers pride and joy. Thank you for bringing the gal back to life. I still miss the old color. It was originally black, although, the striping is original. The Livlab sleeper had a different layout originally as well, I remember when she finally decided to redo it. The best part of these videos was seeing that gorgeous dash again. I always admired, as a kid, how it lit up in the early morning as we got ready to hit the road as the sun came up. All the lights on, and the rumble of the Cummins coming to life! Thank you for getting her out of the barn. It’s been stored for way too long.
Thank you for sharing that. We are in Wildwood FL if you want to bring your family to see the truck
That's America right there
It needs a polish
Are you offering your services? 😎😎
@@ThePoconoPete I. In alberta canada I could use the work
This would be a good apocalypse vehicle
The day may come!
I had to do a double-take. I thought that F-350 was runnin super singles on the rear. LOL Man, what a behemoth! I puckered when that bridge showed up. Noticed the tow man slowed up a bit. What a ride! Must be the O.G. of the condo units. Have fun with her.
LOL first bridge definitely had me nervous
I'de like to see the inside not just outside.
We have other videos of the inside

Вот это - Бродяга ! Он, конечно, старый, но - надежный, удобный, проверенный
Still running strong!
Wow.
The chrome shop years ago.… I was a truck driver I could drive a truck, but I think I know exactly where this place is and why or or what it is. Yeah, come shop.
Those side windows in there look to be Kenworth Aerodyne units, if they are the tilt out windows are a lot better about not leaking, and better in the rain. I noticed the MT plates, I am a 49er myself.
YOU MAY BE RIGHT!!!!
Priceless ❤
This is back When Peterbilt was a real truck
Yep! Enough said!!
