I went to Switzerland to find vintage Volkswagens, hidden somewhere in mine tunnels.
Here you can find Volkswagen Beetles 1300, 1302, 1303 and other variants, the famous Volkswagen Golf 1 and 2 with various variants, Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Passat and others.
The car episodes mentioned in the episode:

I uploaded it earlier (hidden)

most of these cars are left hand drive, and Europe VW``s are right hand drive. Must have a lot of VW`s that were made in America.
@@robertburbach Europe VW's are actually left hand drive (driving on the right side of the road). Only countries in Europe that have right hand drive are Malta, Cyprus, Ireland, the UK and Channel Islands.
For someone like me, who really likes Cars, in particular Vintage Cars, its really heart breaking to see that these old Volkswagens are just rusting down there 🥺
No joke, if this was in the United States, my roommates and I would be there with our trailers in a heartbeat!
they are not rusting at all just mouldy
frfr, i hope we can import that abandoned car. A lot people find this vintage car in here 😭
@@zal_models I dont think its bonedry down there, the Cars will rust.
@@zal_modelsthe ones that had rust for Rusty when put in the cave some did not have the mold the mold will clean off I see some pretty good potential in there myself that I fix everything
I just got in contact with the owner of the cars! He has a special museum for wrecked and special looking, artsy volkswagen from the 50s to the 80s. The cars in there are just leftover part cars or cars he couldn‘t show off in the museum due to not having enough space.
I would love to visit this space. I am passionate about VW cars.
Tell him I'm interested for a working beetle
Name of the museum? I'd love to visit.
What is the name of the museum? And who is the owner?
@@GlobalDesignHD it‘s in switzerland but you can‘t visit the mine officially, only the public museum part which is in another village
I wish we had the back story on this find!
check my comment
what you mean, comment above yours explains everything 🙂 it says - I just got in contact with the owner of the cars! The cars in there are just leftover part cars or cars he couldn‘t show off in the museum due to not having enough space.
@@wasiuuu1 He asked a month ago for a back story, the above comment was three weeks ago. How could he predict the future?
@@wasiuuu1 how does he have permission to store cars in a mine
and why would he put them SO FAR in there, that far underground?
it makes no sense
Wow. Why would they let those magnificent pieces of history rot out in a cave. My gearhead-heart is aching.
Depósito de carros roubados
Sad seeing so many cars wasting away. Good explore, does make one wonder why they are there.
Thanks, Bob! This brings back memories of my first car, a 1960 VW bug that was brought to the States from Germany by a US soldier. It didn't have a gas gauge. You drove til you ran out of gas. There was a pedal on the firewall that you turned with your foot giving you another gallon of gas to get to the gas station.
Really fascinating that some of those cars were wrecked in portugal and ended up in switzerland.
Love those cars, such a heartbreak to see that.
I’ve seen a couple of your videos. I enjoyed being a part of your adventure and I need to say it fires up the imagination and makes me want to find lost treasures.
It's fascinating.... Who and why ?... Old stolen cars ?
All of the same brand and just a couple of models? Nah...
It’s a Swiss guy who owns. Them their old parts cars and ones he can’t show in the museum
Sim ,estavam escondidos tirando peça por peças
Those cars are frightened and just want to go home and see the light of day again. Rescue them !
Wat een zonde om die auto's daar te zien wegrotten.
Crazy long tunnel. How did they maneuver those cars through such tight tunnels. Crazy. Great video. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
they probably came in some other way....there wasn't tyre tracks the whole way.
So sad to see them all rotting away like that. A real petrol-head VW fan like Edd China would have a field day in there😂
Great video Bob
Are they rotting away or were they already a bit crusty and since they’ve been down here in the dry the rot slowed down. ?? They seem to have keys in them so it’s well organised not just a messy scrap yard
@@rallycrosscraig I think he did say that it was quite humid in there.. And by the mold inside almost every car .....and on the outside of a few of them I'd say they started to rot within a few months of being delivered
Would make one hell of a "will it run and drive out of a cave" series
as a VW Beetle fan (my Dad used to collect them), seeing these make me feel happy and sad. happy cause they are cool cars, but sad that they are in a mine. thanks for the great videos :)
Thanks for checking out! It gives a surreal sight tho!
Looks more like a hoarders stash than a collection. There is not a single 'rare' car in there. All low spec, high mileage run down cars worth next to nothing. If there was an Oval that would be a different story. None the less, super, super intresting video! Love these kinds of discoveries!!!
for now. would be different 50 years from now
yeah by then there's litteraly nothing left of them. Don't get me wrong, it's sad either way. Breaks my heart to see any car left to rot away.
@@DG-mi2mc some are very complete what are you talking about yeah there's a few that don't have dashboards I saw one with the engine out that had been converted to electric so what
@@RonaldDaub-xi5jz i think you are missing my point. If you know about VW's you know what i mean...
I own a mk1 golf. And every part of this car is valueable. Even in bad condition. This place is a heaven for classic car owners
13:42 that's a Portuguese old version of the car accident friendly declaration. The 2 guys were very well known actors: the left one "Nicolau Breyner" and the right "Raul Solnado". Same at 14:15. I think some of the cars may have belonged to Portuguese emigrants in Switzerland.
I've seen a few pictures from the museum these cars supposedly belong to. There's a license plate there from 96. Was wondering if maybe one of the late F. Pardal creations made it's way to the museum.
Awesome explore Bob! It is weird to see abandoned vehicles. Especially when they are in decent condition. Generally people stay attached to their car until they sell it or trade it in.
Great Video 👍🏻many greetings from Germany😊
I can’t believe how much mould has grown on all the leather and rubber !
Thanks Bob 😎👍
Honestly, with the right conditions, it can happen in a month (maybe sooner). I have a newer car that sat with a car cover for a month in a shady spot without sun. The climate where I live is pretty humid, and it only took one month for my entire interior to be covered in mold. I came to find I had a leak, and some water was resting inside the vehicle. The humidity and the stagnant water made a costly and time-consuming clean-up job.
First I thought "OMG", but if you have a closer look you realise that every single car is rotten and rusty and not only moldy 🫣 But I have one single question: WHY? Why are these cars here? Many of them were already in a bad condition at the moment of storage I think (with many kilometers etc.). But as always a great Video mate! ❤
yeah they could have still used some parts but there is probably nothing left still worth saving
@@Dark-28200 yeah I think you're right. 👍 But it's a strange place to store cars for parts with much efford to get it to this mine... It just doesn't make sense to me 🤔
Do you think just MAYBE they could work tho, the Beetle was a tough ol car
Cheaper then scraping them.
This is a clever joke by somebody that saw the movie "Sleeper" by Woody Allen.
Superb video strange place to store them and same with the mk2 golfs but very cool I hope they get restored
I've been in the Volkswagen product for over 50 years. This is disgusting. It is absolutely tragedy. They're like hostages. I can't even believe someone would do this.from Florida USA 🇺🇸
Thanks ! Sad to see.. it’s not the best place to store these. In PA I went to a similar place with even more Volkswagens!
So true dude, I wish to have older cars from the 1950s to the 1980s in the future.
Holy cow I want to go there and save them all😊 I literally just came back from the Madeira spring fling VW show and I'm already looking for more vws😂
Great video, sad to see these volkswagens rust down there 😢
awesome. i owned a 77 dasher, 86 cabriolet, 87 vanagon, and a 93 cabriolet. was hoping to see a scirocco or pick up caddy. 🍻
Good Video, I'm an old bug guy, they are relatively cheap to restore, I hope someone does.
those cars are air cooled and most of all, NO electronics !!! after an Apocalypse, they will be the only cars that would run. another awesome show, thanks for sharing!
On Flat Tires, the can’t run.
@@asconajuengerSince when did flat tyres stop a car from running?
I stored my Golf 2 in similar conditions. After just ten years it already required thorough repairs due to internal corrosion of mechanical parts. Fortunately i caught it on time and did all the repairs. It wouldn't have taken another 10 years of humidity.
Good thing they made 50 million
Very interesting Bob!
WOAH NELLIE! This is amazing. So many just sitting in there. They should clean them up and make a museum! Look at 14:12 I like the body shape!
Thanks for your video ❤
Cool place and appreciate the share !!
Very cool. Sad for the cars
Wow What a find those cars need saving if only for parts! whats the story behind the tunnel and cars, great work as always
Damn imagine years from now on, you find golf R’s in a mine or storage. Absolutely mental!
Hi there I'm John I'm from England I've just come across your video and I have to say all these Volkswagens I've only seen the first few but is amazing absolutely amazing and a bit sad that no one is driving these lovely vehicles
Thanks John! I also went to decommissioned warships, submarines, bunkers, space shuttles and more😎 Thanks for checking out
Such beautiful cars. So sad to see them just rotting away.
Dream cars 😍😍 and nice discovery!!!!
Cool vid, thanks. Some body / engine parts can be used, the interior of these cars are to burn.
Dommage de laisser pourrir toutes ces Cox et golf , Passat , dans l'humidité de cette grotte ! Mais sacrée trouvaille , bravo .... Congrats !!! Amazing video.
Looks like an excellent location for a collaboration meetup of all the famous will it run youtubers.
The best for me is the green Beetle, I think it's the oldest. Congratulations on the filming. These cars need to be saved, they will destroy themselves in mold
tnx for the video
Damp cave seems like a bad place to store cars.
Wow that's crazy.
Heeeel ziek Bob! Top locatie weer man! Deze plek moet echt beschermd blijven, de auto’s zien er zo intact en mooi uit, golfjes 1 !
Must have taken them ages to drive them in there 😂
6:11 Oh, these weren't new when stored, which I thought at first. Quite the kms on this one.
This one was also great hard to believe all those VW Bugs are abandoned in the US that would be big money. ( I wanted to ad I just recently lost my Dad, we would be very proud of you. Keep doing what you love your doing a great job. Hopefully I get caught up with your content.
Amazing to see how the mold is on all the surfaces you touch in the car. Just shows how much bacteria there is from your hands.
😊Awesome video thanks for sharing. Yeah some Vins would have perhaps solved some of the mystery. Agree one must feel happy and sad watching this. great exploration It could be some mental guy that just loves this models and nicks them and keep em all safe here, very interesting place. I´m sure someone will figure out why and how they ended there as it´s not that long ago. KEEP EXPLORING With a SMILE.🙂🙂🙂
A new day a new adventure, greetings from Alabama. Love your channel!
I am also in Alabama.. greetings
Chega dá aquela dor no coração, ver esses Beetle aí parado no tempo 😢😢😢.
Geweldige video weer Bob. Waar haal je de locaties toch vandaan ;0)
It’s the early Polos / breadvans that I like best :)
14:11 A declaração de acidente está em português WOOW!!
The name of the museum is Volkswrecks or "Musée d'épaves oldtimer Volkswagen"
Looks like scrap yard for old Vw Beetle and golf polo etc - keeping them out the of the weather as per a regular scrap yard?
Does seem odd as most seem complete or almost complete .
Would love to see a follow up video of how they drive them into the caves must be an easy access for them to drive them in to store them ?
take a photo of the VIN and once back to internet access,,, run the VIN on several cars to see the results...? That should help determine the reason for the remote storage....
And where can you find that kind of info trough VIN?
cool explore
So schöne alte Schätzchen ❤
So I see most of this are 60s. Wonder where to start research to find what happened. With the cars and the tunnels?
They're all 1970 upwards, Not one from the 60's.
I ❣️❣️❣️ the VW Beatle! I had a hirch stick shift in mine! Unfortunately when it rained water got into the carburator and it wouldn't start!😂😂Unfortunately after the seventies they stopped being the great Car!
Ooo every ride must have been an adventure haha😋 The yellow one was still in a good condition. Thanks again for checking out Linda!
Here in Brazil it is called vehicle dumping
What, do they just dump them and intend to come back or?
so sad to see cars like this thrown away
Last 2 cars I've gotten were old police cars. One was free, the other was an estate auction purchase for $354.20 after taxes. One is being re-done as a 'resto-mod,' the other is being turned into a shop vehicle for product development & promotion
Top demais mesmo.. gostei ótimo vídeo
Sad to see these poor volkswagens :( ... this hurts ... hope this location is temporary for these cars ....
Só relíquias 😮
The 1967 (I think) sunroof Beetle at 9:00 and 10:39 has had a roof chop! Pretty strange seeing custom work like that left inside a mine
There's another u tuber that I watch that I think would love this place he's a big Volkswagen beetle fan
Amazing find. Mold does a lot of damage
Nice place very nice
Good stuff
its an awesome site for salvage
Thank you for the Korean subtitles.
한국어 자막 감사합니다.
Vendo ww vari modelli sempre tenuti in garage 😅
Scherzi a parte per alcuni modelli come maggiolino e golf mi sì è stretto il 💖 cuore, veramente un delirio che marciscano in quel posto 😢
That was a cool underground adventure! If I had access to a mine 30 years ago where I could store VW's, I would currently have a bigger storage issue! Mining for VW's is a thing now.
Makes no sense.
How do they get the non runners back in there?
A fork lift probably... or all ran when hidden
Towed them, maybe
Probably roll in there or pushed cars Will roll without running
It will be a lot harder to remove them, as the Brakes sieze-up in time. That will happen quickly in the worst-possible environment where no moving air can ever dry these vehicles.
I am wanting a mk2 golf right now 😮
SAD 😔 😔 LOVE THE BEATLES NICE CAR'S MINE.
soo many tuning options then now..wow
Very strange, leaving rare cars there, they can all be stolen and left there to hide
At least one car isn't longer than 10 years in that mine. I'll try to figure out, what has happened to it....
4:45 You must've used GPT for that sentence. No one would say "elevate your experience" xD
Someone needs to recognize one of these cars if it was stolen from them. Hope someone does and we can get an answer why they are here.
I had my Camaro SS1le stolen months ago and it has not been recovered . I just hope it’s still intact and found one day. Even if it’s years from now.
Nice bro
Very weird, some of those old beetles bodies are in good nick someone could rebuild them in electric!
I don't think anyone was planning on coming back for them.
Belle auto...ed interessanti le gallerie di Thusis
lots of parts removed here, looks like some kind of a strange operation from the past
I would love to have just one
Have you tryed to get a ( GPRS ) of where you are to the end of then you find the cars just to see where you are on a map , it mite have a other entrance where it is blocked up wall because if it is used for storage it mite come out in a village.
Whatever their plan was for storing these cars there, they didnt think it through. Not only are they wasting away, the place is unsecured and obviously not a secret anymore, so they get ransacked as well. At least we got to see them before its too late.
I hope you went on to explore some more places here in Switzerland - if anybody can make it into a hard to get to place, it's Bob! 😊
Pra mim é um mistério, esse monte de carros estarem escondidos nesse lugar. A minha hipótese, é que se trata de um esconderijo de carros roubados. 🤔
holy lord its a treasure unveiled 😮
Stuur me even de locatie 😋
Wow good video bro
Thanks! Seen any other episodes? Been to warships, submarines, space shuttles and secret bunkers😬
