aww the browns are disappointing indeed. thank you so much for this! it's very useful to see all the swatches up close. i recently started looking into coloured pencils so i'm browsing youtube a lot these days.
Polychromos for me is the best choice regarding price and pigmentation, but I suggest to choose singular pencils than getting a set. Same for Luminance and Lightfast, get a few to compare. I didn’t try any American or Japanese pencils though…

My bronze is metallic. Love these pencils.
I have seen that Harry also got a metallic one. Maybe I have to sharpen it more to get the shiny part of the lead.
@@mariram it’s possible. They do have a coating on them like most budget pencils when they come. Lots of sharpening lol.

Can you write down the name of the paper? Was it Fabriano Disegno? You said the texture name was ruvido? But when I googled ruvido texture pictures of other textures showed up. I know I once had paper with the sort of "ruffled" surface that you swatched on. I love to draw on a surface like that but I haven't been able to find such a paper again. Only ingres paper, but those are usually not as sturdy as 110gsm. Specifically, what I need is paper like yours but toned in brown or gray. Thank you!
You might want to take a look at the Disegno series by Fabriano. It's a not expensive cellulose paper, and there are different weights to choose from. There is both ruvido (rough) and liscio (smooth) texture. Mine is Disegno 2 in ruvido texture, 110gsm. And it came in single sheets in a folder, so it's not an album or sketchbook, it makes the price very low. Fabriano has toned paper but it's smooth, but the colors Sand and Clay are very pretty. There is also series Schizzi with ivory colored paper, and it is 90 gsm. The albums for sketching are very affordable.
