Haha yeah right
Such an amazing collection
You are very kind. Thank you very much!
I just bought the Jacques Demy Essential box set at steal on Amazon. Another director I’m discovering.can’t wait to dig into these masterpieces
Thank you so much for letting me know my friend! I hope you enjoy them and let me know what you think about them! A Demy journey... well done.
Shoah truly is an important and amazing movie.
Thank you very much and yes. Best regards.
At 4:53, Number 536 is NOT The Thin Blue Line (Errol Morris) BUT The Thin Red Line (Terrance Malik). I deserve a free Criterion Collection DVD of my choice, Daisuke.
birddogfreemann, thank you for correcting the error. I appreciate it very much. I’ll have to redo this one day! 😃👍
I can't post-correct the audio right now, but I have added a correction at the very top of the description box, and I have thanked you directly as well there for pointing this out. Thank you very much indeed. I really appreciate it and please let me know if there is anything else. You are obviously a great Criterion Collection enthusiast and appreciator. Best regards.
I love hearing about all these Criterions, which inspires me what to watch next. Will you ever do a video on the top Criterion DVD and Laser Discs that need a Bluray upgrade? So exciting we are getting the perfect 'Andrei Rublev' upgrade in Sept.
Thank you for another great comment! Yes, I think that is a great idea. I want to do a thorough video covering all Laserdiscs that have yet to be upgraded at all, but with time and effort, I am sure the same could be done for DVD only titles as well. I too can’t wait for Andrew Rublev later this year. This is going to be fantastic.
Very cool, just wishful thinking on my part! I know it takes a lot of time and attention to make your videos so nice. Just wanted to show my appreciation and encouragement
Justin Peterson thank you so much for your kind words and understanding. I am sorry for not being able to move any faster.
You seem to me to be a great cinephile and so it will be great to talk more with you going forward! Best regards.
another great video, do you have a short list of films you wish were on criterion? I'd be interested to know, thanks
Thank you so much! Oh, yes, other people have asked me this same question. I am planning to make a video about this soon, but I have just gotten back from vacation and so it may take a bit of time. Please stay tuned though! Thank you so much for your interest. I really appreciate it, and keep up the great work on your own CZcams Channel!! SOLITARY RONIN FILMS!!!
You gotta do a part 5 to this epic series my friend!
You are so very very kind!!
Holy smokes! You definitely are thorough. I only own a dozen Criterions (mostly, Wes Anderson films).
Hello Mark and thank you. By the way, may I assume that you are a fan of Wes Anderson films? If so, which ones are your favorites? Thank you again and cheers.
@@DaisukeBeppu yes, I love Wes Anderson's films. My favorite has to be "Moonrise Kingdom", but each film offers its own unique thing. I think Anderson keeps getting better and better with each new film.
@@JavaJunky That is a great choice.
You should mention that L'ENFANCE NUE is the final DVD-only release.
Thank you 👍
Is there no standalone or DVD release of By Brakhage Volume Two? I've only ever seen it as part of the box set, which to my knowledge is only on Blu Ray.
As far as I know, I think it was made only as part of that set, which was, as far as I know, made available on blu ray only. But I could be wrong.
have you seen all of this dvd/blu ray? awersome collection , thanks for share :)
Hello and thank you! Yes, as of now, I have been fortunate to have been able to see all of the titles.
wow that zatiochi box is beautiful, what did you think of kitano's zatiochi?
I actually like Kitano's Zatoichi film, although I think the special effects have not aged very well unfortunately. But that being said, the special effects are not a deal breaker for me, and I can still enjoy this film very much. What an innovative approach to the music!
The Moment Of Truth caught my eye a while ago, but I have not seen it. While I am staunchly against bullfighting, this seems like a really good movie. Think it is worth picking up?
This is a great, and very intense film. I think one can be against bullfighting in principle and still find this film to be very captivating and infuriating (in a good way). As a work of cinema, I think it is marvelous. Personally, I am not such a fan of bullfighting, but I think this is worth watching.
Good to know, thank you!
Beautiful biopic film of a Miguel Romero and the traditional Spanish art form despite an Italian director Francesco Rosi. In the ring, the long lens (300 mm) used truly captures (neorealist) the essence of the bullfighting (the process), the toreador(s), the bull(s) and the actual spectators. It is worth seeing.
Have you children seen The Red Balloon and/or White Mane yet? If so, how did they respond?
My friend, thank you so much for your comments as always. They really make my day. How are you by the way?
As for your question, yes, I watched the films with my daughter. She really enjoyed them.
@@DaisukeBeppu I'm o.k. Finshed Shoah and Berlin Alexanderplatz. Despite any criticism, watching Shoah (again) was a very meaningful experience. With your channel, I was able to write about the film which is valuable to me. Thank you.
I'm still working on my Bergman theory of Nothingness. Reading Peter Cowie's biography of Bergman. Just watched Rashomon and I enjoy Donald Richie's commentary. I think Rashomon and the works of Errol Morris viewed together are important. Have you seen all of Morris' works? Have your children seen Watership Down?
So The Devil’s Backbone is Spine #666.
Coincedence? I think not.
Thank you so much and oh yes. Cheers and I hope you are well.
You need to do a review of Cronos in the future if you already haven’t

Wow
Hello and thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate it and I appreciate your taking the time to stop by! You are always welcome to visit us at this channel, and I hope you are well. Cheers.
Daisuke Beppu oh thank you!
I love Criterion and the truth your channel has interested me! Even though I don't know English very well, I manage to understand very well because I still behave this great fanaticism for the cinema.
Why do you think they number the boxed sets the way they do?
That is a really good question, and the answer is that I am not sure. There is not necessarily any specific rule that applies consistently throughout the entire collection, but at the same time I can understand that because it could be said that not every box set is exactly the same in principle.
@@DaisukeBeppu Thanks for responding! Your videos are awesome. I was thinking, if anyone knew, it would be you.
Do ya have any thoughts on Fantastic Mr Fox?
Hello and thank you. I really enjoy the film! It is also one that I have seen with my children (my daughter having read the book) and so it was a great chance to watch with my children.
Dude, how can you afford these 😭😭
Thank you for your comment. Yes, sometimes this can be an expensive hobby!
