  • Welcome to ShopLifeTV!
    In this video I show how to install H and R lowering springs on an e46 wagon. The process is similar for most of the e46 models. If you need help with removing and installing rear shocks, make sure to watch my coilover installation DIY.
    The end links that you can use for the front are 2007-2008 Impala SS rear end links.

    Nice to see one of those chinese strut compressors in action. Another advantage of those is they compress from the bottom of the spring so you can actually compress them enough to get the top mount back on!

    Awesome video Jason. I bought the impala links ahead of time and replaced my coils yesterday but ended up not needing them because they were too short! Why did you suggest replacing those? Your video is the only one that suggests that and I want to know if I should keep them and figure out how to fit them even though they're too short. Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos.

    Hey bro I've been following for a while, I am getting ready to swap the engine in my 330xi with another m54b30. Only differences I'm seeing off the bat is the oil pick up tube for the dipstick, the coils(ignition), and the oil pan. I just need a blueprint to go off of to get the swap done.
    For ex.
    Remove driveshaft
    remove transfer case
    blah blah, i'm not finding much info on it to be honest and I want to go into this swap prepared.
    Also what do you think I'll need to buy or what would be good things replace while i have the engine out. I'm starting it tomorrow, so thanks in advance man, just in case you actually see this. (:

  • @fastlanenigeria
    @fastlanenigeria Před 6 lety

    Nice! I actually want to do the opposite of this. My ZHP coupe rear is sitting quite low for the 265/35/18 tyres plus 10mm spacer and the tyre rubs the fender. Can't tell if it's the sorings that are weak or the struts are. Also do not know if there are opposites for lowering springs. I ordered a fender roller but haven't felt comfortable tampering with the shape of the car yet

    • @ShopLifeTV
      @ShopLifeTV  Před 6 lety +1

      Would definitely recommend rolling fenders or getting rid of the spacer.

      @JohnFaire Před 6 lety +4

      Endlinks are a good topic of disscusion. I feel you kinda glossed over them. But, its great that you found links that are shorter and fit! I'm glad I watched this video and thank you for making it.
      I know this isn't a froum. But, since people are watching I wanted to add - since endlinks are set at a specific height, shorted endlinks would be for a specific drop. from my understanding, what matters is the angle of the end link to the ground, as close to perpendicular as you can get so that the oppositional force is exactly upward and downward respectively. Any angle would push the bar not exactly up/down and would stress the tabs on the struts in those directions and make the sway bar's design physics to function less, kinda like making a 23.5mm bar function as a 20mm bar. The goal is to get the angle perfectly straight up and down, or as close as possible.
      The other issue is preload, where over or under length would apply a force while in resting position to the compression of the bar, as it is esentially a spring. The goal is for the bar to be relaxed at resting position, so length in also important.
      The length and angle are related to the installation. If the endlinks sit straight up and down, not angled, the length and angle are fine. This is because the sway bar is fixed, unless you have an adjustable sway bar. If the endlinks are not straight up and down, you may need adjustable set depending on far from straight up and down they are.
      Small drops in ride height usually dont require adjustable endlinks. However greater than 2 inch drops usually do require adjustable endlinks. In addition, they would usually also need adjustable tie rods, but that's another story.
