Great video, Jake! Really good info...got me wanting to lower mine
Bro your garage is literally the set up!! Keep up the great videos.
Haha, thanks man! Tried something new with this video not being one of my cars. Hope you enjoyed.
Thank you….the torque specs you all gave was very helpful
Another great video 👌
Great job bro! Nice DIY!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
B8 Bilsteins are made specifically for lowering springs. I see a lot of vids like these where they short cut the mod. Also I didn't see the bump stop and dust shield going back on. Probably should have marked the camber bolt on the rear control arm. Great job boys!
Very nice. Bilstein is a great brand. And omg all that work twice!! Btw I recommend the change the dust caps too. I reused them and after 2 years the fell apart, because of age. So I had to do the work all over again. It's only $20 for the front once.
Stay safe guys and don't underestimate the virus. And don't think the virus is only dangerous for old people. The youngest victim here in Holland was 39yo. Some Dutch regards, Nico.
Thanks Nico! Yes, if we had replacement dust caps I would've recommended replacing them. We're definitely staying safe as best we can. Working from home and avoiding public interaction for now. Can't wait for this to be over with.
Nice! bought an US Xdrive. Thanks from Germany
Great video and it's so much nicer when you have air tools lol
You got that right! Lol
I have a 2006 BMW 325xi and was hoping if you guide me which one I should go for, either coilover or lowering springs. Coilover set is Bilstein B14 performance coilover kit for $814 vs H&R lowering springs with B8 shocks for $985. I want to lower my car but don't want to lose the comfort since it's my daily.
Not related to the 3 series. Could you do the walls thru of you suspension and wheels setup? You’re running 265 with 10mm spacer and lowered? No running even with rolled fender? Thanjs
Just snapped a spring a couple days ago on my 08 335xi. Going with Bilstein B6 shocks and struts and Dinan performance springs, because i want to retain factory ride height.
Dang, that sucks about the spring! Glad to hear you're fixing her up with even better parts though.
Is it different for my e92 335is coupe? I’m doing this soon thanks
He should've have got coilovers for especially xi because AWD doesn't drop lower as rwd does with lowered springs unfortunately but damn that a clean e92!
I agree coilovers are the best option, but it sounded like he was on a budget. But you can't beat the adjustability of coilovers!
Maybe some more diy videos on this blue n55? Perhaps a water pump diy? Or valve cover gasket?? :)
It does need a valve cover gasket...
I know it was a conservative drop, but is he not worried about the shortened lifespan of an OE replacement shock/strut versus something like a koni yellow that’s meant for lowering springs? Thinking of doing a similar set up...
I agree, he should've gone with something like a Koni Yellow or Bilstein B6/B8. That's what I'd recommend if you're thinking of doing this. I linked a few nice kits in the description of the video.
nice it would be kinda cool to have 1 of those with lots of power to play around with a gtr or something
Agreed, should be pretty fun from a dig being AWD!
Awd in New England is a must have for a daily lol
Thinking about doing the same (h&r sport) on my f30. Got 55k on the stock shocks. Is it even worth doing springs without shocks at this point?
I installed lowering springs on my F80 at 46k without changing the shocks, but every car is different. The springs I installed were engineered for the stock struts. It doesn't hurt to swap them out for an upgraded shock while you're in there, but I think they will last for a little while before deteriorating.
I wanted to take the inner rear nut and bolt of, but there is not enough space to get it out because the exhaust is in the way. And on my inner nut the wheel alignment is present. Did you do a new alignment?
Trying to do the rear shocks and springs on my e90 335i xdrive and having the same issue, rear nut and bolt are too close to the exhaust to remove.
@@doomsyer6 in the video his exhaust is super wobbly, I bet he loosened it and just didn't mention it.
Any upcoming 335i videos from your car?
It currently has a blown radiator. I need to buy a new one and get it fixed lol.
I have the exact same car, except not xi love the spec
what go pros/cameras do you use to record your videos?
Just an old Canon Rebel T2i with a wide angle lens. I have a few GoPros that I use every once in a while too.
Next video: Returning the OEM springs on a bmw e92 335i :) i did the same mistake your friend did. Those shocks are designed for bigger (oem) spring. He should have bought bilstein b8( they are made for sport springs). But anyway nice car :)
I agree, but he already bought the parts and wanted to install them. The kits I linked to in the description have properly matched shocks/struts!
-2 and -3 cm ?
Makes the X drive look like a RWD. I wouldn't drop my RWD car but that does look better.
True, and it looks much better now.
Same process on the F30 chassis?
Pretty similar! I'm uploading a video on how to lower my F80, which is probably even more similar to the F30. I just finished that up last weekend, just need to edit the video now. Stay tuned!
Jake Spence will do, an i really appreciate the effort you put into this 🙌🏾
forgot the bump stop and cover!
Only thing that’s missing is a culvers rap 😂
LOL
CZcams algt always send me to your cousin spencer Berke
Lol I've heard that before.
Bro just use your phone for a camera
Why?
Jake Spence because it seems you have a lot of focus issues and lighting adjustments in your videos. I love your videos and those things are just distracting, but your phone won’t have any of those issues and will look just as good on youtube
