    Good job! I saw another video where you could just take off the control arms to the knuckle or the subframe I can’t remember, but then slide the knuckle off the strut and you should have been able to pull it out no problem without compressing the spring.

  • @BaldBozo

    Great video thanks for making it for us. One quick tip, you shouldn't have to lengthen the sway bar links supplied. you do however need to disconnect both ends to adjust the sway bar to fit the new links. You'll probably want to run them for ideal geometry

  • @aggieE46
    @aggieE46 Před 2 lety

    FYI, I installed these in place of Bilstein B8s and H&R springs. The BCs, on full soft, ride better. I suggest you go back and install the adjustable endlinks. You’ll have to set the car level to do it. You’ll appreciate the handling with no preload on your front swaybar. Hope you get it back up and on the road soon.

    I'm looking a this same set for my 335is. I actually need to raise the rear a tiny bit because of that weird squat the stock suspension does, it keeps rubbing the tire on the fender with my 18x10 Apex ec-7s.

    • @jake_spence

    So how do you adjust or lower the back? The more thread on the spring the lower it gets?

    • @AltezzaDrifter
      @AltezzaDrifter Před 2 lety

      The rears get lowered at the strut, the spring adjustment is for preload. That should just be snug against the spring, you shouldn't be tightening it way down or loosening it too much.

    • @InTuneGarage
      @InTuneGarage Před 2 lety

      @@AltezzaDrifter The rears are lowered by adjusting the spring not the strut, the strut adjust is just for changing the geometry if you adjusted the spring. Where the spring sits underneath the adjustable collar, that is what you use to adjust the rears. It's in the BC Book

    • @AltezzaDrifter
      @AltezzaDrifter Před 2 lety

      @@InTuneGarage the spring is responsible for preload, the strut is responsible for ride height. It is this way on every coilover setup I have ever worked on and I don't think this is any different.
      If I understand your point correctly, you're saying you adjust the spring first and then "change the geometry" (aka - ride height) on the strut if you adjusted the spring. This is just the backwards version of what I'm saying, I think we agree but view it two different ways. You have to adjust the spring preload any time you adjust the strut on these cars since they're separate pieces, but the strut is what actually controls your ride height properly, the spring preload should always be adjusted to be the same tension regardless of height.
      If you lower with the spring and do nothing with the strut, the car will go lower, but you're closer to maxing out your strut travel and causing premature wear.

    • @InTuneGarage
      @InTuneGarage Před 2 lety

      @@AltezzaDrifter on the e90 335i (my car) the strut and spring setup is seperate in the rear its not a "true" coilover for the BC Racing DS-DA coilovers which is what i have. the spring has a little twist thing to change and thats how you adjust it, it writes it in the manual youre given too for these cars.

    • @AltezzaDrifter
      @AltezzaDrifter Před 2 lety

      @@InTuneGarage I also have an E90 🥰 The strut and spring both have threaded adjustability, as they must, to control both preload and height.
      I am interested to see what the BC manual says. I bought Blitz ZZ-R coilovers for mine, which had Japanese instructions 😂 Looked and went "huh, cool!" and threw them aside lol

    You are meant to use the allen key to hold the shock's piston from turning, and then tighten the nut using the wrench. Not that it really matters, but you are needlessly rotating the piston seal against the shock inner wall.
