- In this video, I adjust the BC BR coilovers that are installed on my Accord. I replaced my stock shock absorbers that had H&R lowering springs mounted on them, with these new coilovers that are fully adjustable. I show you how to change the dampening on the strut (the compression and rebound), I show you how to change the ride height, and also how to adjust the preload.

I have been building and adjusting cars for 55 years, and to listen to a young mechanic like you, I was very impressed. It’s always nice to see young guys like you coming along.
Wow, thanks!
what do you think is the problem with my ksport kontrol pro@@milanmastracci , it bounces like hell, shaking the car and it's shaking left and right. i already have it rebuilt by a shop, i adjusted it from hard to soft, soft to hard, still the same
I need yalls help with adjusting mine. Bought bc racing br series for a 2014 Rex. It pulls to the right becasue someone adjusted these incorrectly. And I just want them to go back to stock.
thank you for making this video. my buddy pretty much said the same thing last year when the BC was installed on my 9nth gen si. but as someone who wants to doublecheck, there was little information explaining these coilovers, and in one video, it was comprehended that you had to change preload with ride height. doesn't help that the instructions were just as vague and when I asked on a forum, no one could help me out or there was any past thread regarding how to make changes on the coil overs. This had prevented me from switching out my OEM wheels with nice advans. now I can make the changes with confidence. thanks
Man you are one smart guy! You seriously just saved me blowing out all my wheel well work that took weeks to do. My car has been up on Jack's for over a year. Just know that people like me really enjoy your videos! Thank you so much and keep at it!!
Great to hear! You're very welcome 🙌
Thank you for explaining preload. I've been to several forums and watched several videos that "tried" to explain it, but you made it so easy to understand!
+Nathan Yost Glad to hear it Nathan :) Happy it helped
Man this may be old, but thanks brother. You totally helped me adjust my coilovers properly. I installed them and then scratched my head. But thanks to you they ride correctly.
Honestly your channel is really good and doesnt get enough credit. Good content, good quality, good information. All around good. Keep it up man.
It's fun to see him grow. I remember when he had 10k and now I see 100k.
Connor Britt you should put some grease cuivre or lithium... Mine are seals now with shit and dust.

I've been running my BC BR Coilovers with upgraded swift springs for over a year now with the dampening set to Hard. The Town of Mooresville NC has been repaving several miles of street throughout the town. I'm now going to change the dampening system to a softer ride then readjust the ride hight on my 07 IS350 hopefully making it a much more comfortable ride! Thanks for the video and the pain and simple explanation!! Awesome Job!!
Pro Firearms Training go full soft if it’s a bumpy road. I have mine set around 11 from soft. Rides decently.
Had to go to bed, but your actually really clearly and to the point with your explanation. Respectable, I’ll definitely subscribe.
Dude you did such an amazing job explaining how these coilovers work and specifically how to adjust them without unbolting them. Very much appreciated. Just installed some BCs yesterday.
Needed a refresher and sure enough knew i messed up the preload turning it wrong thinking im adjusting height lol…
Thanks for the clear explanation and helping me learn as well.
I create alot of helpful content aswell, always nice to keep learning new things.
Good content, you should keep in mind camber and offsets that depend on left or right hand drive.
Thanks for taking time to explaining the basics off low and high end products, as there are a lot of variance out there.
Take care.
Great video by the way. Just finished installing my coilovers on a 2013 civic coupe ex. Just need to fine tune it and your video definitely have me the needed info! Thanks
Great video man!
I just picked up a set of coilovers for my AE86, and needed a good run through on how to set them.
VERY GOOD my man , im about to order coilovers for my 04 UK type R ep3 in mint condition with the K20a2 engine with only 40K miles . I have always been tuning the classic mini but only just turned over to these Honda type Rs and omg what a difference when that V-TEC kicks in its a totally different car . Your vid helped me a lot so THANK YOU SCOOBS UK.
Clear explanation as simple as possible for people learning to understand. Great content all around.
Literally the only person that explained it properly. I adjusted my pre load instead of my height and was like… why isn’t the car getting lower 😩😩😩 good thing I kept note of how much I adjusted the pre load by
Very informative video, Thanks! I picked up a GTI on FK coilovers that are slammed right to the ground and making it almost undriveable
this is great, put the coilovers in about 2weeks ago, now i need to adjust the ride height this is a great reference video, very thorough, and easy to understand, these coilovers are very easy to adjust, thanks!
Glad I could help :)
This was 5 years ago and this is still an amazing video
The type of job where the tips video is just as long, or longer, than the removal/install video. Good to see info on this subject, it seems like there is a lack of informational videos on this as well as fixing alignment issues after installing coilovers.
You answered alot of my questions! Thanks for taking the time to post this
This is the best explanation I've had so far on adjusting coilovers
I find u two years later lol. Awesome video, info, and keeping the watchers interest.
EXCELLENT in every detail and precision explanations are very on point. BRAVO and well done!
BEST VIDEO YET ON COIL OVER ADJUSTMENT. GOOD CONTENT.
Easily one of the best step by step tutorials on CZcams.
Thank you , i like how you explain everything while actually doing it. very easy to understand!! Great job
Thanks mate - ordering these BC Racing coils for my 2016 GTI in a few weeks and this answered a few questions for me 👌🏼
Excellent video...Very thorough and well explained. You're very smart and have a great attitude. You give even the novices and beginners the confidence to tackle it themselves. Awesome.
Thanks bro for the video, about to adjust coilovers again on my Odyssey, after watching your video I think I did a couple things wrong. Good video.
Awsome vid man, good job! Clear, precise, accurate, all around good info. Also im suprised on how much you know you just seem so young! Keep it up!
This helped a ton im glad you made this video. Unfortunately i adjusted the preload for my ride height 😂 I havent driven the car yet but ill fix that asap!
Great job, young man! My son just purchased these BC Coilovers for his Lexus. Thanks for the tips
Good video. You should make another video mentioning the eyelet hole on the shock body because I talked to a BC rep about what that hole is and it's a safety measurement mark show the minimum point you adjust the cartridge. Every BC application is different on many cars so some have bigger or less minimums. So pretty much if you dont see anymore threads in that hole then it's too high and have the possibly to crack components because there is not enough material to be supported. Keep it in mind.
Milan always with great content bro this is what I was looking for!!! Man my OCD wouldn't let me sleep😂😭😭😭
You're commentary is on point and straight to it thanks. Just got mine installed yesterday on a 2012 infiniti g25 journey oohhh yeaaahh
Glad to hear it brother! 👍
Great video man, honestly better than some big car YT channels
Good idea with the measurement tool for ride height. Saw a video where another guy was counting the number of threads and measuring in a crazy way.
This was great!!! I finally understand the concept of adjustable suspension, thank you so much for making this video, I really enjoyed and will put the knowledge to good use
Thanks for the explanation I'm installing racelands today my first set of coilovers
Hey thank you for the information. I just installed Function Form Type-2 Coilovers. in a 05 Acura TL. My ride is a little rough on the city streets. But the highway is great. I have to go back and adjust my dampings for a little softer ride.
Rough meaning bouncy? That sounds like it's too soft and taking every bump in the road.
Bro your videos are amazing, so informative, and it shows you know what youre doing. Thanks man!
Waiting for my set BC BR coilovers to arrive and definitely bookmarking this video for reference...
Nice video, and very descriptive...Helps me understand coilovers a lot more than i did. Thanks, dude!
Hey man thanks a lot of the post glad I found someone who could properly teach me how to adjust preload
Thank you Buddy,I haven’t messed with my coilovers on the Rx8 because I had no idea on raising it up (since the rear quarter panel are down to the radius line of the side wheel) the front is low but not as low at the rear. Now I Understand and will get to work on it as soon as it warms up in a few days as well as replacing rear end link that’s off the rubber plus the other three links, can’t wait to do it, been riding it super low “don’t like it”
Plus the hassle on putting wood blocks just to use the low profile Jack.
Thanks for the video 👍
I got a rx8 too howd it go?
@@dylankitchener6421 I haven't messed with the car at all still, it's spring and still cold as hell to do anything, but I seethat the coilovers in rear aren't adjustable like the new ones, I have to unhook the whole bottom to adjust and manually measure each one with ruler although I can't wait to fix the height issue on back,
also got spark plugs, egr, crankshaft position sensor, gasket for taillights, oil, filter, gear oil, I've just been getting stuff but weather hasn't changed for me to start it
I'm so damn ready to get my coilover kit lol. Stock height is so bleh.... Awesome tutorial videos by the way! You just earned another subscriber!
Hey man awesome video, now I know how to adjust my coilovers before get delivered, will be great if you can do another video explaining how to adjust the rear ones
Great video! That was super informative and now I feel real good getting these coilovers. Did you install your own coilovers? If so, how was the process? I'm considering installing them myself. Thanks again for making this vidoe!
Most lowered cars require driving on blocks to get a jack under it. Good video!
Great video. Really helped me understand the coilovers that are installed on my car.
Just got my bc coilover for my altima coupe hopefully this video is helpful because is going to be my first time adjusting that height of my car thanks 👍do I have to worry about something while I'm doing it thanks
Very complete video, I’m frustrated with the adjustment because I can’t find the way to lower it down in the front and I feel tired to keep trying.
Thanks dude! Out of all the videos I watched yours was the most helpful! 🙏🏼
Glad to hear it!
This is just what I was looking for. Thank you good sir.
Just straight forward. Ending is great! Nice ride..
Great video man! I can finally purchase my own set and DIY the install. Much appreciated!! Haha
+Johnisfy Good :) Cheers buddy!!
Hey Milan, I was actually just curious what aftermarket lug nuts you're using with the TSW Mirabeau wheels in this video (Ironically I also have the same wheels!)
I plan on getting coilovers this spring on my honda and wanted some nice lugs to match. Your videos are awesome and helpful as always and I always find myself coming back to your channel for more. Keep up the good work!
Hands down the best explanations 👌🏻
Dude thanks, you made it easy to deal with the adjustments
Extremely thorough. Thank you!
I got a 04 neon and just put Megan 32 way adjustable coilovers front and back. I'm trying to level my stance and the rear is much higher than the front. I have adjusted the rear coilovers to the point that the bump stop is level with the bottom of the strut. My question is can I go any further and push the bump-stop out the bottom to get a lil more drop out of my rear coilovers?
you got me at Mini Cooper 😂 Subscribed
From what I read in the BC instructions, at 5:27 the method you show is correct to raise the vehicle height. However, to lower the vehicle the instructions say to turn to TOP collar. The very first one at the top. That collar should be turned counter clockwise to lower the vehicle.
dude is underrated as heck!
can you make a video on how to maintain your coilovers during the winter season, i got some BC's and living it ontario aswell and wondering how its gona hold up during this coming winter, thanks
This is the BEST coilover adjustment video! ..& I've watched a few
Glad you liked it! Thanks Cam 👊
A popping spring noise while going onto a ramp or driveway what may the problem be?
Excellent tutorial buddy. Thanks for the help!
Ok i got new wheels and am currently awaiting a set of bc coils to be delivered and tackle the setup this weekend. When adjusting the ride height(lowering) is it necessary to also have to adjust preload?
I've always done just lowering springs in the past but wanted to do coilovers this time around so this is my first time!
just got the same coilovers this week thanks for the post.
hello. i have those installed and i need to put the car higher. in the front is easy, you dont change the pre tension on the spring but in the rear how do you adjust the ride height?
so i recently installed coilovers on my car but wasnt happy with the height i got them in ,so i lowered them as much as i could but the spring is loose , now i know i can move up the top collar upward to tighten them but do i have to move the mid collar up as well? cuz even with the spring loose im stlll not liking the height id like it much lower.
Buddy, EXCELLENT JOB. Thank you so much. 👍🏻👍🏻
Question about my BC BR type coil overs. On my front right side. When hit a bump sounds clangy almost like bottoming out.
Looks great, I have the same BC coils on my car, mine rides really bouncy, what would you recommend to fix that? Thanks bro
Damnnn Milannn back at it again
i installed brand new coils for the first time. the front coils still have thread to lower but i cant lower them anymore and i feel like the front isnt as low as i expected. the rear coils are perfect though. will the coils drop as they settle or are the fronts maxed out at the height they are set at?
hey good video, i got a question tho, i measured the pre load so i know if it moves, when i raise the height, i notice the measurement for the preload changes, i measured from the top till the bottom of the spring, is this normal for preload to change?
what the hell does, "too low" mean? I've never heard that before.
I think its spelled Tuloh?
haha funny guy, especially when you'll blow up that oilpan
Too low, I think you mean more low.
@@Y4MY4M t. 18 year old
Doderio Larkisso still need more low.
what a great video,no other person explains quite in depth thanks
I’m new to coil overs and am currently adjusting my ride height. I just want to know if this will effect the preload and do I have to do anything to it after changing ride height?
This video is definitely a life saver for me. Explained it very well thanks so much
Glad it helped!
very nice job man. alot of people get scared with setting preload. i jus got a 09 accord 6 speed coupe. i have d2's on the way for it. i got tha j series tho. alot quicker then my type s and fa5 haha P.S. just subscribed to your Channel. very good work👍
I need to do this to the golf i just purchased 2 months ago....looks like it has coilovers....has a weird looking wrench in the glove box....really hard to ride on the bumpy roads here in Tx. Might try to tackle it this weekend.
great video. My Teins don't have that bottom collar.. The new coils i'm looking at does have the bottom collar like yours.. Do you have to adjust pre load every time you lower or raise the car?
Great info & easy to follow!
I have a high lo bodyshift type of coilovers with no option to adjust soft or hard mode. Is there a way for me to reduce bumps? Because my ride is hella bumpy
Hi, do you go to do your alignment before this adjustment or afterwards please?
I’ve watched many good vids on coil overs and how to adjust them, but your vid was the one that made it all “click” for me. Thanks.
Glad it helped! You're welcome 🙌
Do i need to set the preload when installing them, and before using the car? or only set the ride height?
I installed megan racing coils on my infiniti fx35. I didnt adjust any height just put them on stock. Im hearing clacking sounds from rear and front. What can it be? Please help
Might be a loose bolt, double check the nuts, bolts, and stuff! Also can be your wheels, the lugs might need to retorqued... GOod luck and stay safe!
Could also be a loose coil spring from negative (ie. loose) preload.
Can be shock hitting the cv axle maybe try adjusting the coilovers
Awesome info. man...luv it...TOTALLY HELPFUL man...THUMBS UP!!!
Helped heaps. Explained everything really good and understandable 🤙🏽
Why would I have to much bounce? I have coilovers in the front and 2 inch drop springs in the back. I have a 1994 toyota camry 2 door. Any info would be much appreciated thank you.
Remember that adjusting your ride hight actually changes the suspension geometry and you will need to get an alignment afterwards or you can absolutely shred through tires
awsum video yo, very thorough explanation of coilovers. and awsum bloopers man haha
+khoa Nguyen Thanks buddy!! :)
I might need to watch this video over again but does simply raising the hight always change the pre load as well? I just want to raise my lowered Prelude an inch and a half.
What about adjusting the Sway Bay drop link after you have changed ride height so there is no pre-tension on the the swaybar? How important is that? and how do you do that?
hi. purchased a second hand BC Coils for my Lancer GTA, ho do i know if the preloads and setups are not change or are on an equal setting.. simply put, how can i zero the setting to default. thanks!
