ISC N1 COILOVERS // BMW E90 Installation
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 24. 07. 2024
- Today on JD Cars we will be installing a set of ISC N1 Coilovers on the BMW 328i. This installation was initially overwhelming and it was very time consuming, but with patience anyone can do this job at home! I did not run into any major issues and everything fit as it should. Thank you to Bavarian Autosport and ISC Suspension for making this project possible!

No "yo yo yo", none of the annoying "boi / bro" shenanigans! Very informative, very clear and stable filming. So detailed step by step. My E91 is done but I still watched your guide
Thank you very much, I'm glad you appreciate my video style.
And no shitty loud music
Iâm installing these on an e46 and NOBODY has a DIY for them. Thank you for this outstanding walk through. I let my buddy at ISC know how informative it was. Great Job!!
I love my ST coilovers it completely changes the way the car sits and rides. It is my favorite mod so far!
Completely different! The handling is amazing.
you deserve way more subs, your vids are insanely professional and very well detailed. Best of luck as time goes on âïž
Thank you! I truly appreciate your support, it's comments like this that keep me going!
Best coilover installation EVER đđŸ good job
Thanks bro! Glad you liked it.
Really appreciated the detail you put in this video. I can only imagine the amount of time it took to do so so thx!
Thank you! I'm glad you appreciate the video!
Great content, definitely my favorite BMW channel! God bless you man!
Bro you're such a gangster. I love how you make this videos so detailed and simple. Your car is lucky to have you and do are we! Keep it up, thanks!

Proper English and we'll documented install. Well done keep up the good work
Thanks bro!
Thank you for the great video bro. I referenced this a few times while installing my coilovers on my E92. Helped me a ton!
Thanks bro! Glad to help!
Iâm making an offer on a 2009 328i rwd tomorrow and Iâm so excited! Binge watching all ur videos to see what I want to do! Canât wait!
Awesome! Congrats!
Love the amount of communication with each step. Excellent video dude! :)
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks man!
Glad you liked the vid! Thanks man!
Informative video. Good job. I did it the same way (and same spring compressors) at the front. Took some time, but managed to accomplish.
Definitely takes some time, but worth it in the end!
Great video man, very clear instructions and nice camera angles A1! Keep it up!
Thanks brotha! I appreciate the support!
Good job men. You physically and mentally strong person keep it up.
Thanks brother! I really appreciate the support!
Thanks man, I used this video as an install guide.
Glad to help!
wow!!
excellent video,great explanations.
I can't wait for the follow up...thks
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great job on the video! Looking forward to the review after they've settled in. I'm looking to get the ISC street comfort ones for my 335xi.
Thanks man! I'll be sure to update everyone!
keep up the good work young man.
i wish you the best
Thanks, Michael!
Thanks man, this is exactly what i needed!!
Glad I could help!
Proper gear head. Brilliant channel.
Thank you very much, I appreciate the support!
Dope Man I recently bought coilovers for my 328xi too and I'm excited to install them on
They make a huge difference in ride quality!
car stands really really nice man !
Thanks bro!
this was great! I feel I can do now easy.
Thanks! Don't be afraid to give it a shot!
Mine are shipping out today. Lowkey wanted to hold off on pulling the trigger but had my car up on the lift checking something else and seen the passenger strut was blown. Figured nows the best time nearing 91k on the clock. Got sleeves and rear extensions for the dampening adjustment. Hopefully with extra love and care NYC doesnât destroy them.
Hell yeah man! Definitely be careful of potholes in the city!
Looks good already!
Thanks man! I can't decide if I'll lower it any more or not.
Excellent video. No bs just straight to business. You covered everything. BMW really didn't make it easy to lower their cars lol.
Hahaha thanks man, and nope! They didnât!
Great job đ
Thanks man!
Looking good bro!
Thanks, Chris!
Thx you I couldnât do this with out you
you could also just lower the seat backs and peel the trunk liner a little bit to access the shock towers.
Great video
Thank you!
Salty roads = anti-seize is your friend! Great video. This is the next mod for my e90. Interested in how the ride is with the high miles on the rest of the suspension components. I have 194k on my car.
Definitely a good idea to apply anti-seize! I'll be sure to make a follow up video on the ride!
My god those are beautiful
Hahaha thanks man, I agree.
Quick question. How do you know what what to set the spring and also the shock setting height to be at? Since they're both adjustable. Does one greatly affect the other? Do they have to match in terms of height? If I lower the shock lock ring to lower the car, what's the general idea of lowering the spring lock ring?
U Rock man!!! Which u was my neighbor
Best DIY youtuber
Thanks Carlos! I appreciate it!
Great DIYs man! Thanks for sharing. I think it would majorly improve the quality of them by adding torque specs in during for each bolt and section, or text on screen. Not hard to look them up, but make for a much smoother install with your videos when the viewer doesn't have to leave the video with dirty hands to search for accurate torque specs. Keep it up!
Absolutely dude! Good idea! Thanks for the support.
Dude, no offense, but youâre probably the last person should be giving advice on how to make BMW DIY videos after checking out your channel.
I do agree that torĂĄ specs would be nice to have.
@@BVonBuescher no offense but I checked out your channel and you shouldnât even be on CZcams, with your toxic comments and your singular video speaking on mental health. Do you have any qualifications for that? Thereâs another field that Iâm also versed in. I made a couple videos for fun, Iâm not a BMW CZcamsr, and yes I made a silly 10 minute VLOG style video about a license plate cover :p Who cares lol. Whatâs youâre point? My comment here was to help beginners have an even deeper understanding and get even more out an already great video. Which is what the creator asked for. Constructive comments. Not you jumping from his channel and then to mine and whoever elseâs, leaving not one but two lame, toxic and unproductive comments. Also, Iâve built multiple race cars, including several 600+whp BMWs. I feel sad for you if these kinds of comments are what makes you feel good about yourself. You are preaching mental health on your page but go around being toxic and destructive to others, who could have potential mental health issues on CZcams. Have a good one dude. Someone should pray for you or you should look into going to therapy on how to be respectful. Sorry about your feelersđđŸ
Hey I put some maxspeed coilovers but front is not lowering do think I have to change the stabilizer link
JD YOU DA MAN I CAN'T DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE WITH A RULER I COULDN'T DO THAT IN A MILLION YEARS CHEERS
Hahaha thank you, Eric.
U need like 100k more subs lol ur awesome
Thanks man! Hopefully some day!
Australia represent
great video, just a little note. You don't actually have to remove the whole cowling, just loosen the e14 nut of the engine strut bar, which would give you a little room to lift it enough to remove the bolt underneath (you will however will need to use a size 13 mm open box wrench to remove that one bolt).
Good tip!! Thanks!
This might sound like a dumb question but does that kit ship with instructions on how to remove the prexisting shocks and springs(Just for additonal info)
Bro simple question, how did you fit the strut brace over damper knobs?
Please do a review of these coilovers if you ever get a chance. I'm trying to decide between these and a few other brands. Also, which spec are these? I know they offer 3 types. I believe they are Street Comfort, Street Sport, and Track & Race. Thank you so much!
does rwd and awd matters when it come to the coilovers because i have a 328xi and i only see rwd coilers evern in your link it says it doesnt fit 328xi
Stupid question guys and Iâm dumb late I know but ; you donât need the oem strut mounts anymore after most aftermarket coilovers right?
I just did my front BC BR Coilovers today because I thought it would be the easiest to tackle first. And youâre saying the front is the hardest? Wooo whooo. Rears should be easy then. Just waiting on my new absorber things for the rears before starting them. Iâm doing my rotors next week as well so Iâll do the anti-seize then. Forgot about that...
Awesome! I just did another set of coilovers and Iâd say itâs pretty equal front and rear in terms of difficulty. Slightly easier in the rear though. Good luck!
Do you have Information on that control bar you reinstalled on the top of the strut? I am thinking Iâm going to need to purchase a longer bolt and some washers to achieve some clearance to that as mine is hitting it currently and that canât happen. Your video also shows more information than any video ECS provided and I wanted to thank you for that because theyâre pretty close in product to what you used here. So F them as their video didnât explain Jack! So I appreciate youâre clean frustration free video that went above and beyond theirs. Please let me know about that control bar you installed if you believe thatâs what is needed for it to clear that adjuster on the top of the strut. Thanks in advance!!!
Removing interior in E90's is always a pain in the ass. Thank god you dont have to take the seats out lol.
Why? It's only snap on plastic pieces on the doorsteps that i found to be really annoying to put back
Older cars used to be much more easier.
Yeah... it's a lot of trim for that one nut.
Guess u never have put coilovers on an e39 sedann, u need to remove the whole rear interior
Fanis B wtf are you talking about, itâs paradise comparing to Volvo
âfirst things first u wanna apply some lock-tight, FIRST things FIRST u wanna apply some lock tightâ
good job m8
Thanks man!
After you do all that do you have to align the car?
is it changes, comfortable of the car?
Subbed, what jack stand is that bro?
Woahhh, what kind of jack is that?
merci cher jeune homme bien apprecier,tu es tres fort.a ton age.
Je vous remercie! J'apprécie votre aide!
Did you have any sort of gap (about an inch or so) leftover where the housing slides into the knuckle, or does it sit flush? I just installed mine and I'm being told its normal directly from ISC
Iâd need to see a picture to understand what youâre trying to say. Sorry
You are similar to ChrisFix. Keep up your work man. you got my sub anyways
Hahaha I've had people tell me that. Thanks for the support bro!
Bro whereâd you get your front bumper lip? Mineâs cracked on the right corner and iâd like to hide it with a lip just like you have! Thanks in advance
Link in front lip video. I'd definitely recommend this one.
Any tips on lining the rear control arm bolt back up? Been at it for an hour and it wonât line up last bolt and I am fully completeđđ
Hahaha sorry to hear that. You have to mess around with the floor jack a bit to get the arm in the right position.
Very nice video. If you don't mind me asking what is your wheel and tire set up? I want this exact look but have no idea what to do lol Thanks I'm advance
Thanks! Here's my wheel & tire setup video: czcams.com/video/TMryuRgcc_A/video.html
@ 6:51 I got the bolt loose no problem and the nut off no problems at all but holy crap did I have a tiny marginal area to get that bolt out of there, and back in. I know you skipped your extraction but I saw some videos were they took it out by hand! Mine required vice grips on the bolt side and a pry bar on the nut side to force it out because even with no tension, from using the jack underneath, that bolt was in there so good.
And one more thing for others if you see this... @ 11:58 BE CAREFUL WITH THAT NUT. My hand jerked a little and I dropped that nut down that hole... which isn't a bowl type area which I've seen on other cars. That hole goes down near the battery on the passenger side or the silver amp (if you have HiFi) on the driver side and it's just an empty cavity. Kinda resembles a motorcycle gas tank in a way. I had to go to Ace and get a suitable nut, but on my BC BR Racing Coilovers for 2006-2011 AWD models those nuts are M12x1.25 with nylon locker on them (might be the same for all models of the BC Coilovers) which ACE does not carry on hand. That sucked so bad.
Does this fit on a 2011 335i?
How did you measure how high you had to set the shock and spring in the rear?
I kinda just went for it and the heigh worked out
oh yeah
Oh yeahhh
8:45 It came seized on from the factory. Can't even tempt it to loosen off. Hope it doesn't screw me in the long run
Hey bud maybe I missed it but how did you tighten/torque the front upper strut nut? I see there's a tool you can buy for it but I might just impact mine. Thanks!
I'm not sure what you're asking about
JD Cars sorry I meant the top nut on the front struts. I was having issues tightening them without the shaft spinning but I ended up impacting them since I didn't have a window socket to accommodate an allen wrench in there.
@@micraw714 they sell window sockets in many places like Turner Motorsports

Can you provide a link to the lift you used to raise the rear of the car? Or at least one like it.
I actually built that jack myself! I have a video about it
@@JDCarsChannel very nice. Can you link the video please
Can it be raised up to factory height? Especially the front?
Yes
Are you flexing on your thumbnail LOL
anyways thanks for this mate, imma get some coils after i get new turbos next week
Hahaha no sir, just been hittin the gym bro.
I definitely do recommend the coils though!
Hey man, just wondering. Im doing this now, and im stuck on getting the bolt on the control arm u make it look so easy. Idk why mine is so torqued
Hey Julian. It can definitely be difficult sometimes. Just keep messing with a floor jack and it should slide through
@@JDCarsChannel i got it off! I didnt use an impact, i used a ratchet and a long tube off of a floor jack and it worked. Thank God it did. Only problem i have right now is when im steering the wheel, its having that clucking sound. Idk what to do
Hi bro , I wanted to upgrade my headlights for a new led set , how much is a decent amount for a shop to charge me to have this done ? Im buying the headlights on my own
A shop will probably charge about $100-150 for headlight installation.
These look to be rebranded BC Coilovers
what front bumper lip do you have?
Check out the link in my front lip videos.
hey how did you remove that yellow tint on the front turn signals in the headlight?
Aftermarket headlights đ€đŒ
@@JDCarsChannel is it full led including led turn signals?
why have u mounted that rectangleur on the jack stand ?
For added stability
I installed these on my 335xi and I'm having issues where the front coilover is maxed out and the front doesnt really lower. So my front is sitting higher than my rears
That sounds to me like a mounting issue... you either did not fully insert the shock in the collar, or there is an unnecessary spacer somewhere.
dw yo front lift kit ;)
I went with HSD instead of ISC on my e46
Nice!
Hi, did you had problems with brake rotors? Mine shake when I apply the brake.. Annoying
Only noticing slight feedback, but that's expected with slotted rotors.
JD Cars Nah, ok
What package did you get? Im seeing that they have a street one and a race one
I got the street package
JD Cars đđŒđȘđŒ
How long did this take you to do, hours. thanks
It took me a weekend... probably 12-14 hours.
Is that make high clearance cause I need it for Indian roads.
Not very high clearance...
This suspension is air suspension like the original ?
I believe these are oil filled.
Anyone know what model porter cable impact he was using?
Andy, the porter cable impact is linked below in the description. Great tool- Iâve used it for 4 years and itâs still going strong!
@@JDCarsChannel thanks. I did not see it in the description.
whatâs the lowest you can lower it? like how many inches is the lowest max height
I haven't gone that low... so I couldn't tell you for sure
Ot get low im on the ground
Have these held up well?
Yes! They held up great for the remainder of my ownership
Wheels are clean, what are they
Avant Garde M310
How do you adjust them
This was covered in the video.
Is that mercedes plate mass? If so what part? Im from southeast mass?
Yes - northeast
Im from North too. JD make a car meet! Ill bring my F30 335i
If youâre from mass whereâs your front plate? Inside the car?
These or BC racing BR series?
ISC N1
Can u please tell me where u got those rims ?!?!?!
I bought them from car iD
I gt some for sale if interested
235/40/18 i believe
Are you awd?

They have AWD product. Install is the same. I have AWD.

Thanks, Nick. I appreciate comments like these!
What size Rims do u have
Kervins Auguste theyâre 18s
Correct, they're 18s
was this your first time doing coilovers?
Yes! Could you tell?
