Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly test vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. The Ram 1500 may be big, but believe it or not, it's one of the smallest full-sized truck offerings in terms of both the vehicle's width and length. I work at a Chevy dealership, but I have to admit that I love Chrysler products - particularly the Ram trucks. They seem easier to drive and place, and the sloped-down hood makes it easier to see things directly in front of you. They're comfortable, and of course, sound great,

To each their own ;) I love the Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, and Colorado. I'll admit the smaller vehicles generally don't impress me at all, especially compared to other brands that give you much better interiors and features for the price.
I haven't researched dimensions so if you're right than so be it but I've driven a late model Chevy and ford and I'll tell you my 2014 RAM 1500 feels and drives like a much bigger truck than both and i LOVE that. Plus it feels alot heavier which again I love. Chevy rides crazy smooth and ford has a smooth ride as well, but it feels like I'm driving a car! With RAM half tons coil suspension it does ride smooth also but it doesn't feel as "assisted" as the competition.
OSTKCabal I hate the GMC and Chevy 1500 trying to parallel park with that boxy front end drives me nuts Ford's seem like you will hit something but you still have room which I hate too but that's the Ford 1 tonne still haven't driven the 1500 but the ram what you see is what you have visibility in the ram is a lot better let's see this 2019 model hopefully they haven't changed it
Todd Jones That's your opinion. But it's actually not much better, the 5.7 hemi is miles better than the POS 5.0 ford and that's not opinion that's fact. You hear tons of complaints everywhere about the 5.0.

I have the Big Horn edition of this truck. I've had it about 6 months now. Mine has cloth seats and doesn't have the lowering....I think. I'll have to go look...lol. Lots of options and every time I read the owners manual I find something new. The 4wheel drive saved my life when I had to drive down 12 miles of mud and snow and ice in the dark. If it would have got stuck it was miles to get help in below freezing temperatures. I kissed my truck after getting me thru that. The Hemi with an 8 speed auto is a beast at just under 400 horsepower. Pet peeves, turning radius. The worst I've ever had. Parking in a grocery store parking lot is a challenge every time. I could go on and on about this truck....love it

I just purchased a new 2019 Ram classic Tradesman with the SXT package. This truck is loaded with options, 5.7 Hemi, limited slip rear, 4x4. I love this new Ram of mine, optioned out the way I would have had one built. I plan on having this truck for a long time.

Excellent video. I just bought my first pick up truck ever and I love it to death; 2019 Ram Rebel 1500 with a 5.7 engine. This truck is a beast and it’s the best good looking truck in the market, especially with those hood vent and badges. I only wish that my radio was a bit bigger so I can see more clearly when I use my back up camera. But other than that, no complaints. I even bought the package that covers it bumper to bumper for up to 150k miles. Don’t forget guys to always get Gap insurance when you finance, especially when you owe 70% or more.

Man that HEMI sounds amazing. I own a '16 2500 Laramie Longhorn with the Mega cab here, unbelievable truck with unbelievable interior and the Cummins destroys anything in its path.
The old 5.9s would destroy everything in its path in the 2000s model
I just purchased a brand new, left over 2019 Ram classic two days ago. 5.7 hemi, a true 4x4 with locking front and rear end. My weather tomorrow, 6-8 inches of snow, so I'll get to see what the 4x4 is like.

Owned a ford... nothing but problems. Now I have a ram and couldn’t be happier. I’d rather pay for a reliable engine and drivetrain that won’t cost me thousands in repairs than a 5 star interior. That being said, I love the ram interior it’s very nice and I have no complaints.
Really? My rear diff blew at 47500km on my 2019 ram 1500. Replaced and 3 days later it broke after waiting 2 months for the repair. Then i heard noise after the third repair... turned out rear wheel bearings went. Another 100km's later ac went out and i can hear it leaking behind the dash. This truck has been the biggest pos i have ever driven. New truck and more problema than any used dodge neon or jeep liberty i ever owned. When its no longer under warranty im selling it immediately. Parts for this truck are all ezpensive and subpar.

As soon as you said "not as sophisticated as a Ford or Chevy" I knew you knew nothing about current trucks! The Ram is far more refined than either of them!
This was filmed three years ago before the current generation was even out before ram even redesign the entire interior on their 1/2 tons. So yeah this was not as sophisticated as Ford’s and Chevy’s that year

The reason the manual says you will take a hit in MPG is because some parts of the 4x4 system stay engaged all the time when in auto that would normally be disconnected when 4x4 is completely disengaged. More rotating mass the fuel it takes to turn. It makes the system faster to engage when in auto to have it all engaged but the actual transfer-case. I would only have it in 4x4 auto when the weather is questionable.
I think this video has help me make my decision to buy the Ram over the Silverado. Great video 👌👍

I like the way the Ram looks, I just don't trust them for reliability. I wanted a 2019 so bad, but I just went with Ford for safety. I'll check out Ram in the next 6 years to see how they have been doing
I have a friend who has always had Ford trucks but his latest one he says " nickel and dimed him to death and when the turbo went and they wanted $4000 to fix it he did it himself then drove it to the nearest Ram dealer to test drive one and that is what he drove home. He loves his Ram.

I have a '16 Power Wagon, and I've been very pleased in this first year and 25k miles. Zero issues, hopefully it will continue that way for years and miles to come. Impressive off-road beast, been to Moab twice, comparable to my '97 Lexus LX450 (with factory lockers). Just bigger and a shitload more power ;-)

God i love the sound of the 5.7, too bad the line of v8s is rapidly decreasing. We have a 2015 and its probably never seen above 4k rpm and rarely even over 3. Ive never unleashed its full potential but boy do i want to. The higher end rpm does sound a bit scary though lmao

Never in my life have I heard so many different sounds from the Dodge rams. The new ones have a very mechanical sound to it, metallic rumble and grumble resonations.
Ford and Chevy sound very different. They have a deep exhaust profile with that percussive rumble. Followed by the fans kicking in which sound wayy louder than the V8's natural Idle lmao.
Actually sounds very diesel-like in the new Hemi's when it idles. And when you put some throw into the throttle It doesnt revv up and go, it rumbles and goes. And when you're cruisin it has that chuggachuggachug sound, almost like an old train rumbling away at high-speed. You can really feel those combustions in the engine bay going off.
And then you floor it and try to top out above 100, it has that stereotypical V8 sound you all know and love. It just roars away thundering off into the sunset.
And best of all, it doesnt even feel like a truck when you drive it. Its very nimble and responsive. It doesnt chug, its not sluggish, doesnt feel like it has any heft to it. And also feels very comfortable when driving on bad roads and dirt trails. And then the room, omg. It feels like you can live in the truck too. Add to the fact its a powerhouse when you run it hard? Dodge has a special place in my heart for their Hemi Rams

The auto wipers injustice is it for u. Depending on the weather conditions. Basically u leave the wipers alone and let auto do its thing. It works great

since I ordered my '19 RAM 1500 with 10 ply ALL TERRAIN tires I am guessing my truck will do a bit better than yours in the snow. not a fan of ALL SEASON tires like yours came with. I do a little towing.

It may be me, but it didn't seem like a $60k truck; none of them actually do. Were the Honda Fit's (MSRP) worth of add-ons noticeable and were they actually necessary? Crazy how fast the price goes North when adding "stuff". What are your thoughts on some of the controls that used to have their own dial/button are now through the UConnect system/infotainment screen? Easier, harder, more/less convenient? The truck looks nice, but I'm not thinking 60k clams nice; that is GMC Denali territory.

I own a 15 big horn that I bought new. Currently at 31000. Besides 2 recalls check engine came on for a transmission coolant sensor that had to get reflashed under warranty. Hopefully I can get 200,000 out of her.
