My personal experience with the new 10 speed transmission has been excellent. I don't notice any rough shifts and find my F150 shifts smooth. It's the smoothest and most seamless transmission I've ever owned. My truck is a 2018 XLT SuperCrew 4x4 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. I tow a 7000 lb RV with mine and most times you wouldn't know you're towing anything. Fantastic truck......... comfortable, quiet, dependable, very fast and good fuel mileage. 50,000 kms of trouble free driving with one exception..... one rear door lock froze up after an ice storm. No biggy......
This is the car I would get if I was looking to buy a 2021 Ford F-150 XLT 4X4 SuperCrew
Same
so accurate
its a truck not a car.
We purchased a 2020 Ford F150 XLT sport Super crew with the 3.5 TwinTurbo eco-boost with a 10 speed automatic transmission back at the beginning of May 2020 and it is amazing! It is beyond smooth even with snow tires, and the power it has it is great.
I love the refined look glad I was able to snatch one last year
Love your videos. No unnecessary comments, just the facts. Keep up the good work.
I mean its just a great looking truck - wish I could afford it. $50k for an XLT feels....just ugggghhh.
It is a lot of truck, but yeah it’s too steep.
Go to a dealer. You won’t pay full price.
Truck always has huge discount, no one pay full price.
Thats nothing here in canada its 63k
Looks nice but the plastic inside feels so cheap to me. The mark up on modern trucks is wild
Bro your videos are amazing!! So in-depth!! Love it!
Topher goes deep
As I thumbed up this video I said the exact same thing in my head! Amazing point of view and detailed. 👍🏾
No one:
Me, a 14 year old european: Watches a video about an F-150
You should have made it about Albert Einstein
@@RealDerekFrost Probably wouldn't be a problem where I live. There are actually 2 similar sized trucks around. But yeah, you're right. Generally speaking streets are pretty tight. That was the joke😅
Al menos tienes más oportunidades que otros, deberías de sentirte afortunado
Never too young, never too far away to like good things
Thanks for doing a more practical model than the full tilt limited everyone is reviewing
Just bought mine yesterday and looking at all the features. Beautiful truck I recommend 👌
I got one of the very last 2020 f150’s produced (factory prod date 10/1/20) and I got the 3.5 long bed 4x4 XLT in silver spruce with camel interior and pano roof. I really like the thing. Got 7,700 miles on her already and recently did a straight thru drive back from Florida (15 hrs 10 min) and the thing is just comfortable. I also have a 19 f250 lariat diesel and on long highway drives, even with heated/cooled leather seats, the f250 isn’t quite as comfortable. I love both of the trucks I have but nothing beats the 150 on total comfort (and quick acceleration haha).
55k and you don’t even get leather seats?
Prices aren't pinned to seating material, there are also features and other trim levels that determine price. If you want leather, you can get a Lariat for around $49,000, which is before incentives.
@@AkioWasRight You can option a Lariat w/leather, tech and max tow package for $50k -- and that's before whatever dealer incentives you get. This one is only $55k because it's an XLT with basically every option Ford has + 4x4.
@@tealruby582 You can, but then you'll lose other features that this has. Price all depends on what you want and how you spec it.
Mark up price
Man these are sharp trucks, just clean and simple. Makes me want to upgrade from my Tacoma for a more grown up truck.
I personally will be buying the king ranch, I love for that cowboy feel and nice leather
Growing up in a family that only had German cars (I are German), I always wanted a Ford F150, thank you for this video. Makes me choose the right model easier. Seems like it's a very nice comparably to my Porsche and Volkswagen. Seems like the F-150 is not too loud either. I should go test drive it.
Clicked so fast. Great content! Your reviews are so high quality and honest yet you don't brag about that like everyone else. You will slowly climb in popularity but everyone that discovers you will be there to stay :)
That stereo sounds so much better than my computer speakers.
Hey Topher. Me again. Asking bout that playlist lol. I can definitely here some Skinshape somewhere on there. 👍🏽

Love Michigan ♥️love ford trucks 🛻 hope to own one day
Do a Chevrolet 2500 HD review, love seeing truck reviews
Im glad the base version is a 6 seater with dash shifter
Are those CLOTH seats in a $55K truck?? Yup. Exhibit #4814 on how truck prices have gone off the rails.
Ikr! Ridiculous!
and yet you will buy it anyway... well not you necessarily, but your neighbor will, or theirs... car companies are giving people what they want, super expensive shit with tons of gadgets. why do people want this? im not sure. but they sure as hell want it, the market has been trending this way for a long time now, only the last few years its been getting extreme, but its been heading this way for at least 20 years.
@@raiden000 His dad or grandad will. Average car buyer age has risen to 58 now. Pretty soon only senior citizens will be buying new cars, everyone else is going used since cars are lasting forever now with proper maintenance. I have a 2001 and a 2009 vehicle, both drive great and look practically new still. Especially trucks getting 300K miles out of them is not that amazing anymore.
@@BoopSnoot if you get a used one that was well maintained... i just bought a 2009 sienna last year and the alternator failed a week after buying it. 5 months later the radiator failed and leaked enough transmission fluid that i think it damaged the transmission along with it... im 34 and im done with used cars, this experience has been bullshit, only 110k miles too, these vans are known to go well past 300k, unlucky i guess.
@@raiden000 That's one problem with almost nobody selling private party anymore. Before you would just look for single-owner vehicles and actually meet the owner, and in less than 5 mins you could tell what kind of person they were, why they were selling, and possibly even get their service-record receipts. Instead you have professional salesman the mark up the price, send it to their shop to hide any problems, and give the illusion of less risk when its actually more risk since there's more unknowns and its still just sold "as is" unless you go CPO.
That's a badass truck 😍😍😍🔥🔥. Can't wait til im financially stable to get me one🙏🏾.
This is my favorite spec XLT with the Sport or FX4 package no leather and the 2.7 has all the power I need!
be careful with the ecoboosts, they wear down really quick
@@nates5642 No clue why they’re putting 4 cylinders in Chevy Silverado 1500s.
@@flavortown289 i have no clue why any truck other than rangers or colorados have anything less than a v6. i couldn’t even imagine pulling up to my construction site with less than a v8😂
@@nates5642 Because a turbocharged V6 is considerably more powerful than a V8 and burns far less gasoline?
@@ARCNA442 i do agree with that if your more or less daily driving but i prefer a v8 for working 🤷♂️just my preference
The 2021 trucks look like a step backwards in terms of exterior looks, but a step up in terms of interior design. The console shifters in these trucks are purely an affectation - the column shifter is far better in terms of functionality, both in terms of shifting, but also in that it allows for more console storage.
@TheTopher: May I recommend that you do a similar review, but on an XLT regular cab, shortbed truck? Or a long bed with the 3.5L? They drive infinitely better than the extended/crew cab trucks, with a better turning radius and far better visibility.
Standard stereo or the B&O upgrade for the XLT? ( not unleashed ) just the 8 speaker upgrade for the XLT
I really like the new hybrid F-150. Because it's nice that you can get a truck but not have to worry about spending so much money on gas.
How does Ford's transmission tuning compare to GM's on the 10 speed?
every single good feature he said about this truck I responded with “well it better for that ridiculous price” haha
I’m glad I went ahead and bought my 2020 Ram! Ford has definitely come to compete and I was on the fence about waiting for the 21s or getting a 2020 F150. The interior on the Ram is just something else though. I prefer my 12” screen in the Ram to what Ford is offering. I dislike the way they integrate CarPlay. Not sure if that’s adjustable or not. Regardless, I think if GM doesn’t step up their game soon Ford and Ram are going to run away with the truck offerings!
Fire bro💯
That turn signal sounds like a 1970s pong game on speed.
Got a chevy ad for this
I didnt even notice the outside was redesigned at all, until you mentioned it
Meanwhile, I just scoured the entire country for a 2020 because I think the 2021 is hideous, especially the napkin dispensers in the fenders.
@@TomRymes Same
Isn't this the engine with the water pump integrated into the timing cover where it costs $2000 to replace?
Looks great... but I think I'll be sticking with my 2018 XLT, thanks though
Why does the dash screen flash as your driving that would drive me nuts. does it do it at night too?
When you drove it, could you hear the air whooshing from the turbos? I just bought one and I hear it. Based on my past experiences, your not supposed to hear that
I just bought a 2020 and if I could go back I would have got a Chevy or dodge. Ford has made these trucks so light that they are a handful in snow or even wet roads. Plus the oil pans are not metal, but a composite material to save weight. I know because three weeks after I bought it new I had to have a new oil pan put on because it was leaking oil all over my garage. Warranty covered it obviously, but not what I expected from Built Ford Tough!🙄
Ford quality has gone down a lot. Which is why I'm in a 5th gen Ram
So cool
Yooooo, you're in my backyard homie!
Is it wireless apple CarPlay in this truck?
I'm going to buy this car
I'm buying this truck.
I’d love to see a night POV drive with this. See how the headlights perform and the ambience of the interior lighting.
It’s looks the same. Except it’s night. And the headlights are on.
The reason why the shifter feels so easy and cheap is because it's actually electronic shifting, like the explorer rotary dial, but instead of a dial, its a fake shifter.
This car is a beast
not a car its a farming/construction/small business equipment, but people free from common sense turned pickups into fashion trend, now pickups are over complicated stupid expensive even in the WT confing, because you need a truck to tow groceries, kids and own ass to the office
Topher does anyone recognize you with the headcam when youre doing these? xD
$50k for a truck with cloth seats? Holy shit.
Tell me about it
What type of seats so you prefer
@@JakeB84936 Leather
@@alh06 See I've never really liked leather but I can see how it can be viewed as higher quality.

Have you ever gotten pulled over while testing a car?
Wow, So this is how it feels to be tall 😃
jeez imagine how much you have to spend for leather seats.
How’s the ride quality, interior and seat comfort compare to the RAM 1500 limited?!
Thanks for more killer content!
Both are a comfortable place to wait for a tow truck
@@MegaNinjaMonkeyZord Ha ha!
@@MegaNinjaMonkeyZord haha, you're probably right!
@@MegaNinjaMonkeyZord You just won the internet, SAM! TUNDRA, baby!
Can you do a 2021 Blazer 3LT?
Most people i know are fetting the 3.5 TT ecoboost. Oil Catch Can is a MUST from new
Only thing holding me back from the ford is the myriad amount of issues with drive train reliability particularly with 5.0 oil consumption and noises (I'd only go for the 5.0, and now it has cylinder deactivation and who knows what will happen in its first iteration, I just hate more complications), as well as issues with the 10 speed. Lots of documented issues on youtube and F-150 forums. Which is why I'll wait for the 2022 Toyota Tundra and bite the bullet on losing the V8.
You can still get a v8 F150
Why wait for the next Tundra when you can get one now with the 3UR V8? That's the best V8 engine line ever made (descending from the 1UZ to the 2UZ, 3UZ, and 1UR).
54,000 for cloth seats?
I got one ... however the rust issue is rediculous and not acceptable. ..
can we see a 2021 Camaro SS?
i guess the new XLT is what the old lariat used to be- in terms of price that is.
Have you test drive one of the Rangers? I’m trying to decide before this and a Lariat Ranger
I test drove both last weekend, for the price difference the f150 was much more of a truck in my opinion. The f150 drove much better and the ranger felt very cheap and old already. Hope that helps!
@@coltonrudolph1821 thank you ya I have a 2018 Escape SE and just want something more, I like that the Ranger offers the black out trim line and it would get the job done I feel. But my gut and heart is saying get the truck you really want. This being the F150 just not sure my wallet and brain thinks the same
I’m sea sick from the wavy camera.
Ford did a pretty nice job with this. Ram 1500 is still the strongest entry in this segment imo, but this is certainly a stronger offering than the GM or Japanese offerings in this segment. Wish Ford put as much effort into stuff like the Escape and Explorer as they do into this and the Bronco.
Yeah but there's that whole Chrysler quality thing..........RAM looks nice, until it starts falling apart.
I can wait to maybe afford a 2010 one.
Bro did you just drive with no plates??
Tow technology but not the tow package... whats the point?
I might be getting a 5.0 f150 or 5.7 ram 1500 as my first truck in high school cause I need a truck because of football and school and I have my first prom in April and I’m gonna need my truck for prom
DID YOU EVER GO TO A GRATEFUL DEAD CONCERT
Ford's prices are absolutely ridiculous You have to be an astronaut to afford them because their prices are out of this world
in europe the only f150s that are imported are the most specced for the best profit margin.. so they end up costing 100 grand. wish ford would sell these in europe too.
My new ford and a lot of other peoples newer fords have been adding miles when the vehicle is off. Mine went up an extra 10,000 miles in a year and ford is denying it. Write your mileage down every time you’re done driving and keep track. Ford needs to take accountability for this.
How much ?
I honestly want a new truck like that but they’re too expensive
F150 the 5.0 V8, non-turbo, is the engine to get. F250SD 7.3 liter V8, non-turbo, 10-speed, is the Ford truck engine to get (16 mpg cross country tested).
Why? Less power. Oil consumption issues. Cylinder deactivation. The Ecoboost engines are more reliable, more efficient, and more powerful.
This one or the one with 5.0 liter is better😥 idk can anyone tell me
When you accelerate at low speeds....shift shift shift shift....does that get annoying? I feel like 10 speeds is overkill.
yeah i've also noticed that. i dont know why they'd put a 10 speed gearbox in there at all if any one gear is barely usable.
The only way I see that being usable is when towing it shifts to keep you in the power band constantly
@@bubberlad epa
It’s not annoying you don’t even notice the first like 4 gears.
Actually, not that noticeable. Put the transmission in sport mode and it seems to hold the gears for longer and use fewer of them.
43,805 + options listed = 48,110
For all these features you can get a ram for $13000 less. Ram is giving them a run for their money. - Ford fan
I wish I was in U.S. Only thing from ford we have is ranger :( and small roads
Which country are you from?
ram will reign supreme in luxury as long as its competition still have leaf springs. it still stands alone in its coils, way better ride quality.
@Lukas zzstu Sikorski yea, thats a fair point. however, allow me to let you in on a little secret, a LOT of people dont use their trucks for truck things. shocker right? my boss has been driving trucks for 10 years now and the most ive ever seen in the back of his truck is maybe 300 lbs lol.
@@raiden000 But a lot of people do. Down here everybody has a boat, camper, trailer. I always see those RAMs bouncing pretty bad on the highway with a boat in tow.
Does this one have the upgraded $600-ish sound system?
What do you mean
@@Thalor does this particular truck have the upgraded $600 stereo option that you can spec on the xlt trim? What dont you understand...
Everyone's complaining about the price, they don't realize you're paying for the road head mode.
They realize, still overpriced.
The price is just yikes. I rather buy 5 used 2007 F250s for that price.
Yes!!
I wouldn't. I'd pay any amount of money to *not* have to deal with the 5.4L or 4.6L.
@@OSTKCabal understandable
@Steady Trolling its way too big for me lol I ain't tryna drive a tank
This is why I’m looking at the Ranger XLT now. I really don’t need a full-size & the price difference is more than some realize. Fully loaded 4x4 Ranger is selling for $32K locally (before any haggling), while a F-150 XLT is in the high $40s.
Apples to Oranges in terms of features & power; just saying that more people should look at mid-size trucks if you’re not doing serious hauling or construction.
$54,000 and cloth seats?! Truck prices are out of hand
they are but folks keep buying em unfortunately. until that stops we won't see a change!
I would buy this truck
If it wasn't over $50,000 for options
Edit: and if I wasn't 15
I will be heading to mid size trucks after hearing that price. Full size trucks getting to large anyway
43 grand for an XLT?! Where have we gone wrong...
How much is it supposed to be?
You’ll really be disappointed to hear you can spec an XLT over 60k now.
About 35 grand estimated usually
Because people who don't work with their hands, don't tow, don't off-road, are free from common sense, weren't blessed by the nature like to pretend otherwise and SUVs are not cool anymore now its time to ruin trucks. Well there is still cargo vans for working ppl, vans are better anyway
The dynamic of vehicles has inevitably changed. Technology, safety, and trucks are inherently more expensive given how much more they can do. Subjectively, I like where trucks and vehicles in general are heading-they’re making driving a truck more convenient, especially if you’re hauling.
My 2012 F150 platinum I had was 51k new.... this XLT is more expensive ...
Seems steep in 2012. My 2002 Chevy truck 5,3 ltr was 24,000 loaded. This is the price we must pay for ever increasing national debt.
@@voltecrules624 It has nothing to do with national debt, and inflation has been irrelevant to the government for the last decade, as government spending has been contained within government programs. It's just overpriced and inflation

I've wanted an 2.7L F-150 for a while now but I've always heard bad things about reliability and quality for both the engine and truck in general (plus the whole took forever to get anything repaired when they first switched to the aluminum bodies). Any owners have no problems with theirs?
I have a friend with a 2015 2.7 which was the first year of that engine, he now has around 125k on it with no issues. Think they did plugs and normal maintenance around 100k.They seem to be pretty solid engines but in any vehicle that sells in the volume of the f150 there will be problems with some.
You left out the most important thing. You can't park this tank anywhere easily. You better have an open field to park it in and plus you better own an Oil Company to run it.
